Many Oasis fans have been left disappointed as an area at the rear of Heaton Park has fenced off to avoid people catching a glimpse of the band at their three shows next week.

‘Gallagher Hill’ is a term coined by fans of the 90s britpop band, referring to a raised portion of land within Heaton Park, that allowed fans to gaze over the trees and actually see the performance at the band’s hailed homecoming performances last weekend.

Sixteen years since the band separated, the news of an Oasis reunion sent shockwaves throughout the world, as some fans thought the day would never come. But when it did, an estimated 10 million people were poised and waiting, attempting to buy tickets for the band’s reunion tour, according to LADbible.

Many people were unsuccessful and many reported waiting in online queues of over 500,000 people. However, some die hard fans were not going to let their lack of a ticket stop them from seeing the band they love. Being the first open-air show on the Oasis Live ’25 tour, fans soon scouted out a patch of land that earned them that precious view of the stage – albeit from very far away.

Nevertheless, fans hoping to do the same at this week’s Heaton Park shows will have to make alternative arrangements as footage has emerged of a towering steel fence being installed by security teams. Also, the area in front of the fence has now become home to a herd of local bulls, in the hope to deter even the most intrepid Oasis enthusiasts.

The fence is the work of Manchester City Council who said that the site had to be fenced off in order to “dissuade people from gathering there,” protecting livestock and recently planted trees. Oasis fans and Manchester City Council critics alike wasted no time in making their feelings known on social media, with many calling out the council’s incompetence in other civil matters.

Weather warnings have been issues by both organisers and Oasis themselves as the Gallagher brothers gear up for their first show at Manchester’s Heaton Park tonight (July 11).

This weekends two shows will mark the bands first performances in their hometown since 2009 – with more than 80,000 people expected each night – with temperatures forecast to reach 30 degrees Celsius.

These high temperatures have led to Oasis taking to social media to offer a warning to those in attendance. They have urged fans to take special care, giving the instructions: “Please prepare for extreme sun and heat. Wear sun screen. Stay hydrated – at the concert and when travelling. Wear a (bucket) hat. Where possible stay in shade. Look after yourself and each other.”

The dangerous heat is not the only warning given to concert-goers ahead of tonights show, as the Police have released a statement to discourage any anti-social behaviour.

Posting on Facebook, Bury Police said (via Far Out): “There is a S34 dispersal in place for Heaton Park and surrounding areas until 2am tomorrow – there is no immediate risk but safety is our main priority; officers can ask anyone to leave the area if they are engaging in, or likely to engage in, anti-social behaviour.”

This warning comes after Manchester City Council expressed safety fears about ticket-less fans trying to sneak into Heaton Park. The Council explained in a statement how it’ll be near-impossible to breach the area.

The statement read: “There are no facilities for them at the park and they will not be able to see the concert or get into the event arena – which is double-walled with solid high security fencing all the way round and in excess of 2,000 event security staff and police officers on duty around the site to ensure both the safety and wellbeing of ticketholders and that only those who have tickets access the concert.”

Despite all the warnings, the anticipation is building for the massive homecoming shows. Fans have been spotted queuing at the gates since before 7am this morning, including fans from all over the world such as Australia, Italy and South Korea.

Cast are due to take the stage at 6pm before Richard Ashcroft at 7pm, with Oasis kicking things off at 8:15pm. If last weeks shows in Cardiff are anything to go by, it can be expected that the Britpop icons will remain on stage until around 10:30pm.

Check out all the news from the first weekend of the historic ‘Oasis Live ’25’ tour here at mxdwn.co.uk.

Manchester’s Parklife festival, which is held annually in June, has announced that it will take place from September 11-12th 2021. The event which has an 80,000 capacity, was cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival will take place in the city’s Heaton Park and was originally scheduled for the 12-13th June, but after ongoing concerns that have arisen from the pandemic, this has been pushed back to later in the year.

The 2020 edition which was cancelled in March, was due to host performances by musical talent such as Lewis Capaldi, Skepta, Robyn and Tyler and The Creator. NME reported that after the festival was cancelled, organisers promised a return in 2021 to be ‘Stronger than ever,’ before releasing the June 2021 dates this August.

Music Week have noted the statement given by the festival organisers saying, “With all the good recent news, we’re now looking ahead to 2021, and a return to the fields and good times we all love,” said a statement on the festival’s website. “It’s a party two years in the making that we all deserve. It’s why with that in mind that we have decided to move next year’s festival to the new dates of 11th-12th September, so we can be sure of the good times coming. A huge line-up is almost ready, that we can’t wait to show you in January. Trust us when we say it’s going to be worth the wait.”

The CEO of Live Nation, Michael Rapino told NME in a recent interview that he expects a “robust, outdoor Summer season,” for the live music industry upon it’s return next year. He mentioned that the ‘Download Festival’ and ‘Isle of Wight Festival’ were already ahead in their ticket sales than the previous year. “Importantly, we remain confident that fans will return to live events when it is safe to do so,” he wrote. “Our strongest indicator of demand is that fans are holding on to their tickets, even when given the option of a refund.” He added, “Our expectations for a robust outdoor summer season in 2021 are also reinforced by the two-thirds of fans keeping their tickets for cancelled festivals so they can go to next year’s show, along with strong early ticket sales for festivals in the UK next summer,”

Manchester Parklife is a independent music festival that began in 2010 and was co founded by Sacha Lord. It began in Platt Fields Park in Rusholme, but as the numbers increased with the festivals popularity in 2013, the festival moved to Heaton Park In North Manchester. It is now jointly organised by other groups which include ‘Live Nation’ and ‘The Warehouse Project.’

As the return of 2000 spectators at outdoor sports events is now in place, festival organisers will be keen to know the governments plans for outdoor music events next Summer so that they can begin to put measures in place, to allow a safe environment for the festivals to go ahead. With ticket sales still booming for live music events, it is clear that the public are eagerly waiting for this news, along with those that work in the live music sector.
