American rock band Good Charlotte have had a lengthy career spanning just under two decades, even releasing a greatest hits album back in 2010 – however, after a four year hiatus, the band are set to release a long awaited sixth album on July 15th this year.

This news comes several months after the release of comeback single Makeshift Love in November 2015, which the band followed up by touring with All Time Low as support on the UK leg of their Future Hearts tour earlier this year. With this in mind, it seems that their upcoming album will mark the beginning of a new era for Good Charlotte – and a tour to promote the album is likely to be on the cards, too.

The announcement was made via a short video teaser on Apple Music which was posted by the band on Twitter earlier today – see below:

ANNOUNCMENT: see the full visual on @AppleMusic now for GC ALBUM news!! #WelcomeBackGC https://t.co/pyN3u49V6O pic.twitter.com/SN5ly22w1E

— Good Charlotte (@GoodCharlotte) March 30, 2016

The two minute video takes a reflective look back at the band’s career, commemorating their highs and lows and ultimately creating some well justified suspense for their upcoming album – which is yet to have a confirmed title, although we do know that it will feature guest vocals from Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil and Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens.

Good Charlotte’s comeback could see them rise to the heights they saw back in the early 2000s, meaning that long term fans of the band will have high expectations – however with new material mere months away, it’s safe to say that the hiatus is definitely over and we can expect to see far more from Good Charlotte in the near future.

Watch the video for Good Charlotte’s latest single Makeshift Love below!

To be released this summer Good Charlotte’s new album is highly anticipated since their 2010 album, Cardiology.

A statement featured on ew.com, Good Charlotte said:

“The new album is like our previous albums in that it’s for people who love music and are constantly motivated and trying to live a rad life.”

“Everyone has something to prove to themselves, waking up every day and deciding to change their life for the better and help others do the same. GC has always been about doing this together, motivating each other, finding the unity and energy that exists in taking life’s challenges and coming out on the other side. It’s about being inspired and excited to be both who you are and who you want to be.”

Formed by the Madden twins back in 1996, it was the all-important second album The Young and the Hopeless which gave them their name.

A short tour of the USA till kick of the promotion of this sixth album, the first single of which will be released in April.

18/4 – Philadelphia, PA – TLA

20/4 – Washington, D.C. – 930 Club

21/4 – New York, NY – Webster Hall

22/4 – Boston, MA – Paradise Rock Club

Initially described as post-grunge/pop-punk, their sixth album will reflect the influences from the 90s but as they say in their statement:

“finding the unity and energy that exists in taking life’s challenges and coming out on the other side. It’s about being inspired and excited to be both who you are and who you want to be.”

Good Charlotte will complement the post-grunge scene with the adaptability of modern times – a demonstration of how music develops and evolves.
