The 80-year-old was recently put on vocal rest which forced him to move his residency concert at The Colosseum, Las Vegas to June 10th. Sir Stewart announced the news via an Instagram story which read: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date.” Last month, Rod was seen with a sign around his neck informing anyone he came into contact with that he could not speak after his concert at Milan’s Unipol Forum. It read: “Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest.”

The iconic artist is set to perform on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage later this month, in the coveted legends slot. He will be joined by former bandmate Ronnie Wood on June 29th. Talking with The Telegraph, he said: “After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there!”

The English singer returned to the stage a few days after cancelling his Vegas show at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal and reassured fans by confirming he had no plans to retire. He wrote to Instagram: “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love.”I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not…”

After Glastonbury, the ‘Maggie May’ singer-songwriter will be travelling the U.S. for his One Last Time tour in July and August.

Tickets are now available via Ticketmaster.

Shangri-La – Glastonbury’s legendary field of counterculture and alternative music – has announced details of it’s reinvention ahead of this year’s festival, along with over 200 new acts added to the line-up.

The area known for it’s unique look and late night parties will adopt a whole new look this year, as the redesigned field will be known as ‘The Wilding’.

Fatboy Slim will mark his 100th Glastonbury gig at the stage, whilst politically charged hip-hop group Kneecap will be sure to bring the area to a standstill for a second consecutive year. Keep reading to see the fully announced line-up.

@kneecapceolBig thanks to Grian Chatten for joining us at 2am on Shangri-la stage♬ original sound – KNEECAP

Although full details of the revamped area will be kept under wraps until the festival kicks off on June 25, the organisers will be sure to drip feed hints and clues over the next few months.

Creative Director Kaye Dunnings and her team have been working on the new concept, with a key aim being to recapture the feeling of genuine discovery: “That feeling of getting lost, I think, is missed.” Dunnings said.

“Shangri-La used to be a bit like that in the very early days, 18 years ago, when we didn’t all have smartphones, Google Maps, and What3Words. We were new. We were in the furthest corner from the Pyramid Stage. It was a discovery. And I want to bring a bit of that magic back this year.”

This theme of moving away from technology runs throughout the creative teams process, as they have largely ignored social media for promotional purposes, instead focusing on newsletters and physical printings.

Speaking about what made them venture away from social media, Dunnings said: “I’ve been increasingly disillusioned by social media and what it does, how divisive it can be, and how you can’t really avoid adverts anymore.

“When we first joined social media, you felt part of a community. The same goes for when the internet started: the promise of utopia felt real. Since then, it’s been used for so many things; it’s not what we signed up for anymore.”

You can sign up for Shangri-La’s newsletter and keep up to date with news, stories, information and secrets here, www.weareshangrila.com/signupforjoy.

Not only have the exciting details of the new-look area been released, but also over 200 acts have been announced as playing at Shangri-La this summer.

Glasto’ legends such as Roni Size and Fatboy Slim will be joined by exciting artists such as Kae Tempest, Bambie Thug and Kneecap. Check out the full line-up on the poster below.

Shangri-La Director Robin Collings has shared his excitement and reiterated the desire for bringing the idea of ‘discovery’ back, stating: “Shangri-La’s music programme has always been led by the artists and communities who take over our stages, bringing people together for truly beautiful moments.

“This year’s line-up is possibly our best yet, and we’re over the moon to have some of our long time friends like Fatboy Slim and Roni Size returning, but the magic of Shangri-La is in the discovery; we want people to come with open hearts and find something completely new.”

This will be Glastonbury’s final event before heading for a fallow year in 2026, with Pyramid Stage headliners already confirmed as The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Neil Young. Although tickets sold out last November, there are two official resales taking place next week.

Transgressive Records will be taking over the stages of some of the UK’s most anticipated festivals this summer to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The set will include performances from Moonchild Sanelly, Miso Extra, Future Bounce B2B DJs, and other Transgressive DJs however fans are still waiting on the full-line up to be released.

The independent label, which also consists of a publisher and management company, will then head to Latitude Festival later this summer on July 25th to stage the Sunrise Arena which includes acts from he WAEVE, Graham Coxon, Mystery Jets, KOKOKO!, HotWax and a DJ set from Let’s Eat Grandma – these are some of Transgressive’s more revered creatives. Some of these show stoppers will also be taking on Green Man Festival’s Walled Garden on the 16th of August, with sets from HotWax and a collection of other DJs from Transgressive.

On September the 25th Transgressive Records are set to throw a party in New York, where they have just opened their first overseas office.
As for the previously announced gigs, which you can get tickets for here, they are in collaboration with charities War Child and Music Venue Trust, and are due to take place across London venues this year.
The late singer’s set on the Pyramid Stage is regarded as an all-time highlight of the festival’s long history. Glastonbury’s co-organiser Emily Eavis has given the following statement concerning the release, “Amy Winehouse was a Glastonbury-goer through and through. She either came and played or, when she wasn’t working, came and camped. She played in the blistering heat and the heavy rain, and there were so many magical moments to her performances.”

The upcoming release marks and celebrates the 15th anniversary of the performance, included within the Vinyl’s artwork will be a dedication by Eavis. Within the famed set, ticketholders were treated to a range of the singer’s back catalogue including the hits “Valerie”, “Tears Dry On Their Own”, “You Know I’m No Good” and megahit “Rehab”. Within the same day, Winehouse performed across two stages. After her headlining set on the Pyramid stage, the singer then took to the Jazz World stage in the evening.

The memorialised 2007 performance was Winehouse’s second appearance at Worthy Farm, the singer made her Glastonbury debut three years earlier. After the release of her debut album Frank, the singer began to gain traction within the industry and the album was shortlisted for the 2004 Mercury Music Prize. During the summer of 2004 Winehouse took the stage at Glastonbury for the first time, the singer was billed to perform on the Jazz world Stage alongside funk legend Roy Ayers and blues singer Bonnie Raitt. The iconic singer would go on to perform at the historic festival again in 2008; Winehouse headlined the Pyramid Stage on Saturday alongside Jay-Z and Manu Chao.

Fans were left devastated in 2011 when the tragic news of Winehouse’s passing was announced, it was confirmed that the 27-year-old singer had died from alcohol poisoning. The iconic artist’s discography consists of two highly acclaimed studio albums, Frank and her breakthrough release Back to Black. Winehouse’s enduring legacy and influence are apparent within all aspects of popular culture; with many of her hits canonised to preserve modern music, the singer is forever immortalised.

Memorabilia from Winehouse’s career and items from her estate were placed at auction last year. The Fender Stratocaster guitar used by the singer on stage and in the music video for “Take the Box” was sold for £117,00. A dress that Winehouse wore during her final performance was also placed on auction and the item was sold for £18,000. The dress was part of a huge auction that included 800 pieces from the late singer’s estate, the overall sales totalled over £3 million which was donated to charity.

The hotly anticipated Vinyl release is to be pressed on 2 black LPs as well as a crystal-clear edition which can be purchased exclusively from Universal Music. The release is available to pre-order the here.

The new release is the first track in which includes a traditional vocal appearance from Bez and also features vocals from Firouzeh. Previously known for his maraca playing and famed interactive stage antics, it is exciting news for fans old and new to hear Bez take centre stage. The press release for the new track has provided the following description, “hypnotic homage to the glory days of acid house“.

The track seems to serve as a dedication to the Second Summer of Love, the cultural phenomenon which took the United Kingdom by storm within the late 1980s, most predominately the summer of 1988. The cultural wave saw the rise in popularity of acid house, electronic dance music and the rave scene, fuelled by certain drug influences such as MDMA, the psychedelic and hedonistic scene was particularly taken upon by the nation’s youth. With these factors mixed together, this new musical philosophy embodied itself within the ideologies of freedom, pleasure and indulgence.

It is this sense of freedom in which ‘Flying Bus’ sets out to embody and along with a nostalgic wish for the past, Bez, DJ Doorly and Firouzeh are determined to take the listener back to their youth, full of fun and parties. Bez’s vocal line tells the story of the iconic Glastonbury stage Flying Bus, which is said to be the most rambunctious and often the last to close with parties going on until the early morning and the inspiration behind the song’s title

The accompanying music video also keeps within these cultural themes, the video sees Bez play a colourful bus conductor with DJ Doorly as the magical Bus’s driver. Again, staying within the theme of the 1980’s cultural and music scene, a passenger seemingly dragged down by the burdens of corporate life is taken to the legendary nightclub and music venue, The Hacienda. The Hacienda became a vital part of the dance and rave scene within the 1980s, situated in Manchester, the club became an important role within the career of Happy Mondays and many other bands involved within the genre. The new release’s music video sees Bez and DJ Doorly work with fellow Manchester artists and animators, Friend Party Studios.

The description affixed to the new release’s promo and its music video gives the video’s storyboard and the emotions it aims to conveys: “An office worker’s day gets off to a bad start after being stung by a psychedelic bee, but things get even more trippy when the Flying Bus pulls up. Bus conductor Bez and bus driver Doorly take our hapless hero on an adventure like no other, as he discovers a world of trippy visuals and pure party excess, ending up on the dancefloor of the iconic Manchester club The Haçienda. There’s only one thing to do: free your mind and take a one-way ticket on the Flying Bus!”

The Bolton born cultural personality has provided the following statement concerning his recent collaboration, reinforcing the song’s musical and lyrical themes. “It was a brilliant work trip to Ibiza to collaborate with Doorly at his studio that created this tune, My Flying Bus stage at Glastonbury is really special to me and a great hangout for the hardcore party people. I’ve been missing it so much and this track conjures up that Flying Bus magic. The song is about that freedom you feel when you’re gathered with like-minded people. This is the first vocal track I’ve ever brought out and I’m nervous and excited at the same time. I hope people will get ‘on the bus’ and enjoy it, get lost in a moment in time, that’s the whole vibe!”

DJ Doorly has also spoken about the experience working with Bez and what fans can expect next from the duo. “Writing a track together with the legend Bez was a hell of a lot of fun, not sure if you’ve met him but he’s a bit of a character, We really bonded over our shared love for the transatlantic Acid House movement from the late 80s/early 90s. Our aim was to bring a slice of that magic coming out of Chicago and Manchester around that time, with a celebration of Bez’s bonkers Flying Bus party at Glastonbury. It all came together and it’s a real pleasure to have Bez on my Reptile Dysfunction label, you can expect more from us both this year.”

As well as the promise for even more material, Bez and DJ Doorly have been confirmed to embark on a tour jammed full of dates this Summer. Fans can now also catch Bez on YouTube, since the lockdown this year the performer has started a new career path as a fitness advisor. His courses and workshops can be found as online fitness videos on the channel Spoke TV, entitled ‘Get Buzzin’ With Bez‘.

British band Coldplay have released their new music video, the new video is for the group’s new single ‘Higher Power’ released on 7th May 2021. The single was recently performed for the recent ‘Live at Worthy Farm’ event and this year’s Radio 1’s Big Weekend against the apt setting of Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for the 1992 horror film, ‘Bram Stocker’s Dracula’.

The new video features a heavy theme of an Intergalactic fantasy world, the video’s premise sees the ‘Yellow’ performers embark on a journey to the fictional planet Kaotica, described as a “colourful trash planet”. The group are accompanied by dancing aliens. Playing the group of dancing aliens characterised as a street gang, is the Ambiguous Dance Company, a modern dance act located in Seoul. The band are also joined by a gaggle of otherworldly characters such as robot dogs.

Throughout the video giant holograms are also at play, further confirming the video’s fantastical theme. The resident aliens featured in the video communicate with a make-believe language, this language is also a component amid the artwork. The Mercury prize nominee’s new video exists within a science fiction world akin to films within the same genre. The video itself references such films as ‘The Terminator’, ‘Blade Runner’ and 1997 film ‘The Fifth Element‘ which stars Bruce Willis also on an intergalactic journey to find a cosmic weapon.

See below to watch Coldplay’s new psychedelic video.

The music video was directed by Dave Meyers, an American director responsible for such videos as DMX’s 1999 hit ‘Party Up (Up in Here)‘, ‘Adore You’ by Harry Styles and the smash hit ‘Bad Guy’ by Billie Eilish. With an impressive list of work from 1995, Meyers has accumulated a lot of accolades during his career. The director’s most recent being Best Video from MTV Europe Music Awards for his work on the music video ‘ME!’ by songstress Taylor Swift.

Meyers had this to say concerning his recent collaboration with Coldplay: “The video is a metaphor for how, right now, we all feel alienated, far removed from our world, almost like we’re on an alien planet. And ultimately we find love in the streets and that euphoria shoots us off into the stratosphere of our own energy and higher power.”

The single ‘Higher Power’ is one of the singles from the band’s upcoming ninth studio album and is the first instalment in a three-part musical journey entitled ‘Music Of The Spheres‘. This will be the name of the band’s ninth studio, a release date has yet to be confirmed.

Stage times for the event have been revealed and what a line up it is. The evening is set to kick off with Wolf Alice, who are gearing up for the release of album three, ‘Blue Weekend’ Followed swiftly by Mercury Prize winner Michael Kiwanuka, who’s self titled album was a real highlight of 2019. Another singer-songwriter in the shape of George Ezra joins the fray just before 8pm. His melancholic, pop ballads are sure to fit the early evening vibe. Drink anyone?

Post-punk Bristol boys IDLES are next, sure to jolt you out of your seat after two, soothing crooners. Fresh from album three, number one record, ‘Ultra Mono’, IDLES are sure to bring the noise. BRIT Award stars Coldplay and Haim follow, they’re sure to be (virtual) crowd pleasers as the sun goes down.

blur and Gorillaz frontman, Damon Albarn is the next performer – his unique genre-bending career is sure to bring about a quality performance. Jorja Smith and a “Special Guest” follow, this is the real big slot to fill, prime headliner time, so I’m sure we’ll get a big name to fill the gap. Kano and DJ Honey Dijon takes over form midnight, as the drinks flow and the DJ-sets begin to take hold.

Irish singer-songwriter Róisín Murphy rounds off the night. Her fantastic sounds will get the lighters swaying before we head to bed. Just as we edge nearer to venues re-opening, a big night of music, dancing, cans and bands is exactly what we need to get in the party mood.

Covid-19, as we know, has already had a devastating impact on the music industry. So, it”s little surprise that the organizers of Glastonbury have canceled the 2020 run. It isn’t the first casualty of the epidemic within the live music scene. However, it will stand as one of the biggest.

Worse still, is the fact that this year, Glastonbury would have been celebrating its 50th anniversary. It’s a momentous milestone for a festival that has welcomed the likes of Kanye West, Primal Scream, Orbital, Oasis, and David Bowie over the years. Sadly, it seems, 2020’s edition isn’t one for the history books.

Due to headline the fiftieth anniversary, Glastonbury was Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and Kendrick Lamar. Set to run from 24-28 June, the news came via Twitter today that the Worthy Farm gig would no longer go ahead.

Michael and Emily Eavis made a statement on Twitter, saying: “We are so sorry to announce this, but we are going to have to cancel Glastonbury 2020. Tickets for this year will roll over to next year. Full statement below and on our website. Michael & Emily.”

Read below via Twitter for the statement in its entirety.

A more thorough statement via Twitter was released soon after. It began with: “We are so sorry to announce this, but Glastonbury 2020 will have to be cancelled, and this will be an enforced fallow year for the festival.

In what they describe as “times of such unprecedented uncertainty”, the organizers declared that the decision to cancel was their “only viable option.”

However, on a somewhat brighter note, the statement does affirm that ticket holders can roll over their £50 deposit into next year’s concert, or have it refunded.

Further information for accommodation, coach packages, and local Sunday tickets are expected “in the coming days.”
