Festival manager Emily Eavis took to her social media, announcing the another exciting appearance of huge musical star Lana Del Rey at Glastonbury this year. The announcement makes Del Rey the fourth leading act to appear at the festival, together with Sir Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Diana Ross who is booked for the legend’s slot.

The news about the “Summertime Sadness” singer’s performance was initially delivered by Eavis at the recent NME Awards 2020 (February 12) at O2 Academy Brixton. “I’m very pleased to tell you that we have the most incredible Lana Del Rey. I believe it’s her only UK festival which is even better,” boasted Eavis about the upcoming gig of Del Rey at Glastonbury.

She added, “She’s nearly played a few times actually, and for one reason or another it hasn’t happened, and she was one of our very first confirmations for this year. It’s amazing, one of the best records of last year and for me a real coup getting her. She’s playing the pyramid on Friday, underneath our headliner.”

Eavis then confirmed the arrival of Del Rey at the Somerset festival on her Twitter, which can be seen below.

Am very happy to tell you that the wonderful Lana Del Rey will he playing on the Pyramid stage this year. pic.twitter.com/Ti0iE399qM

Elsewhere at the bill this year, legendary rock band Aerosmith also self-confirmed about their slot at Glastonbury. The news emerged along with the band’s tour announcement in Europe in June and July. Glastonbury was included in the dates, which is the only gig that the Steve Tyler-led group will play in the UK.

More about the festival, NME just crowned Glastonbury as Best British Festival and Best Festival in the World. Meanwhile, manager Emily Eavis was also granted the Godlike Genius award, following the previous grantees like Blondie, U2, The Cure, Coldplay, The Pet Shop Boys, and her very own father Michael Eavis who won this award in 1996. Receiving the accolade thanks to her contribution to the 50th Glastonbury, she has become the first non-musical act to be named Godlike Genius in over 20 years.

“Thank you so much! Thanks NME. I watched my dad pick this up when I was 16, and I was like ‘I would never do it’. But now, I’m just in so deep,” gratefully said Eavis. “This is for all the female artists as well,” added her. Read the full speech here.

Regarding Lana Del Rey, the 34-year-old singer just released Norman Fucking Rockwell! back in 2019. The album has become the most critically acclaimed record of Del Rey’s discography, sweeping numerous accolades from music critics and awards; NME recently declared the album as Best Album in the World at its award show, along with it being nominated for Album of the Year at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards and other accolades from Billboard, The Guardian, Rolling Stones, etc.

At the end of February, the sadcore songstress will arrive in the UK for the ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell!’ Tour. The UK leg consists of four-date shows in London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Birmingham. Tickets are on sale, but the availability is unfortunately extremely low to none. However, check out Ticketmaster in case of any luck and see the dates below.

Standard tickets for Glastonbury 2020 ran out in a staggering 33 minutes. The infamous music event in Somerset’s Worthy Farm takes place next year from July 24 to July 28. The standard tickets for Glastonbury 2020 were put on sale at 9am on October 6, with See Tickets tweeting confirmation at 9.33am that the tickets had all been sold, as seen in the post below. Just last week, as the first set of coach package tickets went on sale for the music festival, these were sold out in less than half an hour, (27 minutes).

The 2020 line up has yet to be announced, but rumours are beginning to circulate of headlining appearances from Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, Foals and Elton John.

Tickets for @GlastoFest 2020 are now SOLD OUT. Congratulations to everyone who got tickets. Confirmation emails are going out now. Sorry to those who missed out. The coach + ticket resale will take place on Thurs 16th April followed by the main resale Sun 19th April 2020.

— See (@seetickets) October 6, 2019

The remainder of unwanted and unpaid coach tickets will go on sale on Thursday April 16 2020, before a main resale on Sunday 19, 2020. Those however who were fortunate enough to secure themselves tickets for next year’s five day event posted their responses across social media.

However, on the flip side, there were those unlucky in their hopes of grabbing tickets for the world famous festival, and these fans angrily took to social media, with their frustrations ranging from the ticket website’s technical issues to one user, Graham Lloyd-Roberts summarising that it’d be “easier to get into Glastonbury by learning an instrument, forming a band, going on tour, getting signed, releasing a few albums, making millions and getting invited to headline the pyramid stage. Rather than just buying tickets off that website”

Hannah Bennett posted a popular meme from Titanic with the boomerang caption, “it’s been 84 years”.

The festival co-organiser, Emily Eavis, tweeted, “We have now sold out. Thank you all for your incredible, continued support. Demand was higher than ever, with over 2.4 million people registered. Bring on 2020!”

An official post by Glastonbury said. “Tickets for Glastonbury 2020 have now Sold Out. Thank you to everyone who bought one, and sorry to those who missed out.
