The London headliners included artists Turnstile, Alex G, Sunny Day Real Estate, Glassjaw, and Knocked Loose. The majority of them also performed on the Manchester days of Outbreak Fest, including other artists, Danny Brown, Flesh Water, Superheaven, and Pest Control.

Turnstile, the rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, headlined on the 13th of June at Victoria Park. The band recently released their new album, titled ‘NEVER ENOUGH’, in early June, performing some of their new songs, including ‘SEEIN’ STARS’, ‘BIRDS’, ‘DULL’, and ‘NEVER ENOUGH’. They also performed songs from past albums, including ‘BLACKOUT’, ‘Come Back For More’, and ‘WILD WRLD’. Turnstile also brought out Blood Orange as a guest appearance; the two performed their song ‘ALIEN LOVE CALL’ together.   

Alex G, American singer-songwriter from Pennsylvania, headlined two back-to-back days in London and Manchester. The singer has an upcoming album set to release on July 18, titled ‘Headlights’, and debuted a new, unidentified song both nights at the festival. Alex G also released a song featured on the new album, titled ‘Afterlife’. He performed well-known songs, ‘Harvey’, ‘Advice’, ‘Forever’, ‘Headroom Piano’, and ‘Immunity’.

Pest Control, a punk band from Leeds, England, gave a high-intensity performance to their fans on the 3rd day of Outbreak Fest with a backdrop on stage quoting ‘I wondered when metal bands would run out of cool names and I guess if finally happened (There is a band called Pest Control)’. They performed songs including ‘Time Bomb’, ‘Year of the Pest’, and ‘Don’t Test the Pest’.

Glassjaw, a post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York, performed all three days of Outbreak Fest. During their Manchester sets, they performed a full run-through of their album ‘Worship And Tribute’ on day one, and the complete run-through of their ‘Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence’ album on day two.  

Outbreak Fest was successful and unique for adding a London show this year before the scheduled festival in Manchester. Don’t miss out on important dates and information for next year.

Fans of the Sheffield based band were eagerly awaiting the next few weeks, before beloved metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon’s next effort in the Post Human chapter was set to be released. Now, frontman Oli Sykes has had to dash expectations as he announced via social media that the band have had to postpone the release until sometime in the near future.

Sykes cited that the band has had to push back the release due to the album not quite achieving the lofty standards the band have for it, due to unforeseen circumstances. The singer acknowledged his fanbase’s patience over the setbacks the record has had and has promised them that the album will be released some time very soon.

The news will undoubtedly come as a disappointing surprise to Bring Me The Horizon’s legion of fans, but they will also indubitably take heart that the delay is only temporary and many will be pleased to hear that the band is unwilling to comprise on their music-only deciding to release the album when they are satisfied it is of the most perfect quality.

The disappointment will certainly be felt by the band as well, with Bring Me The Horizon enjoying a huge amount of success over the course of the year-the band’s relentless efforts culminating in a triumphantly successful headlining slot at this summer’s Download Festival, where the group began intensifying the marketing campaign for the new album.

Set to be the second instalment of four in the planned Post Human series, Bring Me The Horizon have already released two singles from the upcoming album, “Lost” and “Amen,” featuring guest spots by hip hop artist, Lil Uzi Vert and Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw.

Sykes has often expressed his excitement over the new material, saying recently, “we’re definitely tapping into bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Glassjaw. There is not that much difference between a metalcore song and when you get into that world of like post-hardcore and stuff, but its more about the freeness and the kind of frantic energy of it, which was really fun to tap back into, because I always feel like even when we’re heavy, we’ve become quite a polished band. And it was very fun to kind of just throw all that out and just be, like, rough and ready again.”

Fans will be hoping Post Human: Nex Gen is not delayed too long but in the meantime, the band has released the finished version of the album’s cover art-shared by the band on social media accounts. Album artwork and a full tracklist for the LP have also been released, and Material Control will mark Daryl Palumbo and co.’s first album since 2002’s outstanding Worship and Tribute, and their first release of any kind since 2011’s Coloring Book EP.

As of yet there are no confirmed tour dates, but this might be expected given the band’s fondness of taking their time for releases and tours in the past. It’s worth noting that the album kicks off with ‘New White Extremity’, a standalone single released by the band back in 2015.

The release of a full-length album could be considered something of a surprise to fans of the band, as Palumbo has frequently spoken about not needing to release another album, arguing that “full-length records are becoming irrelevant”.

In a 2011 interview with Kerrang!, Palumbo elaborated on his point, stating that “People are so hung up on us not having a full-length out that they’re overlooking the fact that record labels are becoming increasingly irrelevant, that full-length records are becoming irrelevant and the whole album/tour cycle is pretty irrelevant.”

He added that the band want to “put music out as it occurs and not bore people with 15 songs,” which is fair enough, as  Material Control has 12 songs to its name.
