The tour will be in support of Ghost’s upcoming fifth full-length studio album, which the band has reportedly spent the majority of 2021 recording, according to Metal Injection. Songwriter and frontman Tobias Forge discussed the concept of the upcoming record in an interview with KLAQ, where he stated that it followed the theme of the rise and fall of empires, citing Timothy H. Parsons’ book The Rule of Empires as an inspiration.

Forge said; “I remember that day I came up with the idea for this record, this upcoming record. Because I got a book called The Rule Of Empires. So, basically, I wanted to make a record about the rise and ultimately the unescapable fails and falls of empires…So once you get that idea of, like, ‘Oh, now I know what the pile is gonna look like. I know now what not to put in there.’ And it was the same thing with Prequelle; it was gonna be about the great death, a medieval, primordial threat of annihilation which was, I guess I wouldn’t say carnal but maybe a tiny tad more spiritual and philosophical death, with the ever presence of actual termination, whereas this record about the empires was gonna be a little bit more practical, I guess; a little bit more, I don’t wanna say political. So it wasn’t really hard to be inspired by the last couple of years.”

The band originally aimed to release the album in Winter 2020, with a supporting tour to go forward in March of 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this of course did not go forward, however the group entered the studio in January to start recording. Regardless of the delay, the band have had a productive year, having been featured on the Metallica tribute album The Metallica Blacklist with their cover of “Enter Sandman” alongside the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Royal Blood and a huge host of other artists. Additionally, the band recently released a new single entitled “Hunter’s Moon” which was featured on the soundtrack to the 2021 film Halloween Kills. You can find these songs on all available streaming services.

Tickets for Ghost’s 2022 tour will go on sale on Friday November 26th, and will be available here. You can find the UK dates listed down below.

The Rolling Stones have released their first original material in 8 years. The brand new track was recorded last year in LA and London and was finished recently in isolation.

The new song premiered on the official YouTube channel of the band on April 23. The video for the song is a compilation of short clips, taken on the empty streets of London, Los Angeles, Kyoto, and other cities. It was directed by Joe Connor.

The song is a contemplation on difficulties that people around the world are currently struggling with. In an interview for AppleMusic, Mick Jagger clarified that initially the song’s lyrics were written for a place, that was full of life and eventually became bereft of it.

The Rolling Stones’ frontman also added that when he came back to the lyrics he has originally written, they were full of “Plague terms” he never really used in the final version of the song. With the global pandemic situation progressively affecting people’s lives, the song was rewritten in order to reflect on the problems of its time.

The complete interview can be seen on the official YouTube page of Beats 1.

Four days before they release their new single, The Rolling Stones performed a live version of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” for Global Citizen’s series of live shows “One World: Together At Home”. In this rendition of the song, Keith Richards was playing an acoustic guitar from his couch, while Charlie Watts kept the beat from an improvised drum set.
