Speaking to The Line Of Best Fit, Josh Law commented: “I think Brian Wilson is a bit like the north star for depressed musicians who spend too much time in their own heads…His music has made me feel as many things as you could hope to feel from music. Cheers Brian!” And also went on to say “He made me realise there are more ways that music can hit you than loud guitar solos. If I hadn’t got into the beach boys I don’t think I’d have the same level of conviction to just follow my nose and trust my gut when making music.”

Mumble Tide’s Ryan Rogers echoed this sentiment, adding that Wilson’s artistry: “defied convention whilst simultaneously adoring pop sensibilities…endlessly pushing to create work that defied convention.” 

Since emerging during the isolation of lockdown, Getdown Services have rapidly become one of the UK’s most talked about acts. Their sound blends dance-punk, disco, and biting satire—think Sleaford Mods meets LCD Soundsystem.

Their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Crisps’ was filled with explosive wit, taking jabs at landlords, Jamie Oliver, and the mundanity of suburban life, all accompanied by playful energetic grooves. They followed up with EPs like ‘Crumbs’, ‘Your Medal’s in the Post’, and most recently, ‘Primordial Slot Machine’.

Live, Getdown Services are known for anarchic, laughter fuelled performances.Their 2024 UK tour sold out, followed by their first full EU tour in early 2025. Getdown Services continue to carve their own vibrant sound. With ‘Don’t Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)’ they not only nod to a big influence of theirs, but also prove their ability to reshape a classic with warmth and wit.

Friday evening at Glastonbury 2025 saw the likes of Loyle Carner, Alanis Morissette and Wet Leg take to the stages at Worthy farm, but Getdown Services cut the the crowd with an announcement that they would be performing a secret set the following evening. 

On Saturday morning, the band announced that they would be taking to the Crow’s Nest stage at 00:15. Located at the top of The Park stage, the Crow’s Nest is one of the smallest stages at the festival, so unsurprisingly, the tent was packed to the rafters by midnight on Saturday.

The only performance that the band were originally scheduled for was on Sunday, in the Croissant Neuf stage. Taking to the stage at 17:30 and clashing with Rod Stewart, Getdown Services had a lot of competition for their slot. However, Ben & Josh soon made their feelings apparent, stating “Rod Stewart looks like an old sofa – but he has great hair”.

The Croissant Neuf tent was even busier than the Crow’s Nest the previous night, with fans standing in the blistering heat just to try and get a look at the stage. 

The duo stated at many points throughout their set that they have been overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned up to both of their shows so far and expressed their gratitude profusely. Guitarist Josh Law went as far as to say that “I’ll probably cry later on”.

Having poked fun at his face, hair and political views throughout the set, Getdown Services concluded their performance with a satirical rendition of Rod Stewart’s “D’ya Think I’m Sexy?”, with both members reading lyrics from their phone.

Having been announced earlier in the week, Getdown Services finished their Glastonbury with a teatime television performance on BBC 2.

Looking nervous and stating “I’ve never been on the beeb before”, the band performed their song ‘Dog Dribble’ as part of the BBC’s Sunday highlights coverage.

After the cult success of their previous EP ‘Your Medal’s In The Post’, Getdown Services have wasted no time in riding the wave and announcing a batch of new releases in the form a six track record, ‘Primordial Slot Machine’.

The first single off the EP came in the form of ‘Eat Quiche, Sleep, Repeat’, a mellow number, but still tinged with that funky playfulness that has quickly become a motif that appears throughout the band’s brief discography, and ‘Chrysalis’ also carries the same infectious energy along with it.

In other news, Getdown Services have just finished a run of festivals this week including: Wide Awake, Bearded Theory and Live At Leeds, alongside performances their Spring 2025 UK tour. The band have also announced a huge tour across the UK, Europe and the US later in the year, as well as slots at End Of The Road, Victorious and Glastonbury Festival this summer. 2025 looks to be a very busy year for the Minehead natives… Getdown Services have been lucky enough to play shows all over the world already, and, speaking on podcast ‘101 Part Time Jobs’, they attribute that to having a small crew, which makes the logistics of travelling around the world a lot more cost-effective. On the podcast, Ben and Josh also reminisced over times they spent working together in an ice cream parlour, a touching sentiment ahead of the band’s upcoming world tour.
