The singer was wearing a  Vivienne Westwood mini dress with a traditional veil, Jimmy Choo heels, and her infamous sunnies. Photos and videos were quick to surface on social media on Saturday with captions such as “Mrs and Mr XCX”. The couple plan to have a bigger ceremony in Sicily, Italy where they first met. The Sun reported last month: “Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there. There will be no expense spared.”

After her collaboration on No Rome’s song ‘Spinning’ in 2021, Charli and Daniel started dating in 2022 and announced their engagement in November 2023 whilst working on ‘Brat’ whit his collaboration. In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stones UK, Charli opened up about their relationship saying: “We want to impress each other, and we think we’re both really good, but I’m actually such a b**ch in the studio with George. Because we’re obviously so close, you lose everything in terms of the normal studio boundaries.”

The pop singer shared a couple of TikToks from the party, one seeing her pretending to be annoyed and walking away, captioned: “When George isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle.” But “Luckily he did xx” was the accompanying sentence. A later video, included shots of Daniel wearing his now-wife’s veil, surrounded by friends and captioned “bridal party energy”, by XCX.

The couple’s wedings rings have both been individualy valued as £10k and £15k, with matching wedding bands for both musicians. Laura Taylor from Lorel Diomands told MailOnline: “Charli’s wedding band is where she’s really made it her own. Rather than going for a traditional band to sit next to the solitaire, or even an eternity band like we’re seeing with other celebrities, she’s chosen something much bolder.”

The British power couple both performed at Glastonbury at the begining of the summer, Charli being a headliner as well as The 1975. The Guardian reviewer Shaad D’Souza gave Charli’s performance five stars and wrote: “Despite being a prodigiously talented mainstream songwriter, she has dedicated her career to exploring the most caustic, hallucinatory sounds of the underground, and working out how best to synthesise them with the pleasures of pure pop music.”

The 1975’s performance, was also received with acclaims from The Guardian’s Alexis Petridis, referring to the set as “bold, experimental, occasionally confounding, but ultimately hugely impressive”.

Charli refers to her partner, now husband, on stage and in song. “I wanna dance with George,” she sings on song ‘Club Classics’, a song co-produced by Daniel who also co-wrote the song ‘Apple’.

The 1975’s significant financial success can be attributed to their ‘At Their Very Best’ tour, which spanned from 2022 to 2023. This extensive tour supported their fifth studio album ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language‘ (2022) and included performances across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. The tour encompassed seven legs with a total of 93 shows, significantly boosting the band’s financial reserves. Following this, the band embarked on the ‘Still… At Their Very Best’ tour in September 2023, which ended in March 2024 and further bolstered their financial success.

The band, consisting of frontman Matty Healy, guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel, has cultivated a devoted fanbase since forming in 2002. Known for their genre-blending sound, introspective lyrics, and socially conscious themes, The 1975 has released multiple chart-topping albums, including their self-titled debut ‘The 1975‘ (2013), ‘i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it‘ (2016), and ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language‘ (2022). While their song ‘If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)‘ achieved the highest chart position on UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 14,  ‘Chocolate‘ remains the band’s most commercially successful single in the UK. It was released in 2013 and peaked at number 19. It has accumulated 120 million streams and 370,000 downloads.

The band is currently gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album, for which Matty Healy is said to write about his relationship with Taylor Swift. The frontman has been sharing glimpses into the album’s development on X. In November 2024, he posted a tentative tracklist, featuring titles such as ‘Alone Together’, ‘Give Us Back Our Present’, and ‘EVERYTHINGAMAZINGNOBODYHAPPY’. As of now, Healy has deactivated his X account following a series of public controversies.

In addition to the band’s musical success, The 1975’s drummer George Daniel is also in the spotlight as he plans a high-profile wedding in Italy with pop star fiancée Charli XCX. The couple has been a focal point of the UK’s music scene, further elevating the band’s presence beyond their musical endeavours.

Scheduled for February 22, the highly anticipated Boiler Room event has already ignited speculation regarding its venue. While the location remains under wraps, rumours suggest a likely setting in London, these rumours beckoning the possibility of The Colour Factor in Hackney Wick. As excitement builds, tickets for Boiler Room events are notorious for being elusive due to their overwhelming popularity. In a recent text alert, Charli XCX personally invited fans to join the revelry, stating, “LET’S RAVE – BOILER ROOM 2/22. gonna play some stuff from the album. think i’m also giving away tickets later this week.” Those seeking updates and exclusive alerts can subscribe to text notifications by dialing ‘1-310-861-2831′, as advertised on the artist’s Twitter feed.

This marks Charli’s return to Boiler Room after her memorable live-streamed performance in 2020, where she showcased tracks from the pandemic-inspired album ‘how i’m feeling now.’ A groundbreaking project, the album was among the first major artist releases entirely crafted during the COVID-19 lockdown, reflecting 38 days of intense collaboration with her dedicated fanbase.

Charli XCX’s artistic endeavours extend beyond her solo career, as she is reportedly contributing to the upcoming Britney Spears album. Additionally, she recently announced her engagement to George Daniel, the drummer for the 1975 and her Boiler Room collaborator, via Instagram in November of last year.

The 1975 have once again teamed up with War Child UK, releasing a limited edition set of signed prints in an effort to raise funds for Children in Conflict.

The band have created prints in collaboration with Soundwaves Art, a non-profit organisation that creates art using the soundwaves of artists’ songs to then sell in support of various global charities.

Soundwaves Art was established in 2005 by Tim Wakefield, a British artist with a passion for music. He has collaborated with over 500 artists since Soundwaves Art’s conception, raising in excess of $7.5 million for a number of charities. Tim creates his art pieces through a multimedia process to capture the soundwaves of iconic songs.

War Child UK is celebrating its 30^th anniversary of offering invaluable support to children caught in war zones, and in honour of this, Soundwaves Art will be releasing 30 artworks throughout the year to raise proceeds for the charity.

The team at Soundwaves Art said, “We’re starting off with a banger!”

“The guys signed artwork of “I’m In Love With You” a few weeks back and were so excited to release them today to raise money for War Child’s programs with children displaced by war.”

A limited selection of signed and unsigned prints are available, as well as the one-of-a-kind original artworks hand signed by Matty Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, George Daniel and Soundwaves Art creator, Tim Wakefield. Lead singer Matty Healy has also written ‘I’m In Love With You’ on the originals with added framing optional for each version.

The 1975 have paired up with War Child UK on various occasions, most recently playing an intimate show on 1^st February on their home turf at Gorilla in Manchester to raise money for the charity. Matty took to social media to publicise the show and to raise awareness for War Child UK’s efforts.

The show was part of Brits Week 2023 which saw artists including Sugababes, The Hunna and Years & Years also staging intimate shows in partnership with War Child UK. The Soundwaves Art proceeds will go to Children in Conflict, a non-profit that’s working with War Child UK to provide aid to children in need. They are currently providing emergency relief to those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. You can learn more about their efforts here.

Charli has now made waves with her decision to part with Atlantic Records, whom she signed a five album deal with at just 16 years old. The details of her new record deal have not yet been revealed, but Charli did tease fans with a glimpse of her “brand new recording contract” in her ‘In the Bag’ video for British Vogue.

Charli reveals that she has signed a two album deal, stating in the video “We’re in business!” Rumours subsequently began to circulate that she had signed with Dirty Hit, an independent label home to No Rome, Pale Waves and Charli’s boyfriend George Daniel’s band, The 1975.

Charli has previously worked with numerous artists signed with Dirty Hit, most recently teaming up with George Daniel to remix Caroline Polachek’s new single, ‘Welcome To My Island’, so it wasn’t surprising that fans thought she may have signed with Dirty Hit herself.

However, she quickly put these rumours to rest, replying to a fan on Twitter saying “i’m too expensive for them.”

Speaking to NME in October 2022, Charli revealed that she wasn’t sure about becoming an independent artist, saying, “I like not having to foot the bill for everything at the beginning, that’s quite scary. Especially when you want to do things on the kind of scale that I did on the last record. I’m still exploring, definitely.”

She concluded that, “there’s so many interesting options that would work for me.”

Charli’s latest album CRASH released in March 2022 debuted at No.1 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming her first album to top the chart. CRASH also became her highest charting album in the US to date, debuting at No.7 on the Billboard 200.

Following this success, Charli expressed her confusion surrounding the lack of recognition for female artists at the Brits, tweeting “i only came to speak the truth hunny.’

Despite her lack of nomination for Best Artist, Charli was later seen wearing a very on-brand tongue in cheek outfit, with a slogan t-shirt reading ‘REAL WINNER.’
