“I love, admire and respect Fugazi with my whole heart… always have,” the Warpaint bassist shared her admiration for the band with The Line of Best Fit. She also added, “The sentiment of “I’m So Tired” is deeply moving and extremely relatable. It was such a pleasure and a pleasant surprise I was able to pull this off. I hope I did it justice, it sure was FUN (and that’s the point of it all). Big love and kudos to Fugazi forever.”

It has been around over months since the 38-year-old musician graced the indie fans with music. Her last work was a collaboration with Trentemøller for the track “Try a Little” to which jennylee contributes her vocal.

More good news for Warpaint’s fans: the bassist hinted back in December 2019 that the four-piece were cooking new material for the follow-up of 2016’s ‘Heads Up‘. Even though Warpaint has not released anything under their own name since 2016, they went on tour as an opening act for Harry Styles’ Asia tour in 2018, while dropping a track titled “The Brakes” as a soundtrack for horror film ‘The Turning‘. The four members also composed an original score for podcast ‘Motherhacker‘.

Supported by BBC Sounds, Record Store Day is the one single day in which over 200 independent record stores around the UK join force in celebrating the “unique culture”. On this day, there will be exclusive releases of special vinyls made for that day, while many shops and cities will host intimate performances of wide-ranging artists. Record Store Day is held not only in the UK but in many countries around the world. Founding member Wayne Kramer will be joined by an all-star cast of a line-up during the tour, in Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Dug Pinnick (King’s X), Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla),
Don Was (Was Not Was) and Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam).

The tour will also commemorate the release of Kramer’s memoir, The Hard Stuff: Dope, Crime, the MC5, and My Life of Impossibilities, to be published August 16^th by Faber & Faber in UK. The book chronicles his abusive childhood, the influence of rock and roll found in artists like Chuck Berry and The Yardbirds, as well as the life and times of the band and it’s excessive legacy.

The book also documents Kramer’s life after the band, including jail time, addiction, and reconnecting with his estranged father.

Kramer wrote “I will come to England, where some of the greatest live shows of my life were performed in the MC5, to play Kick Out the Jams again with these great musicians. Doing so is the best possible tribute to the legacy. To borrow from Claude Lanzmann, there will be ‘No Retirement and No Retreat.” Let’s rock.” The tour kicks off in Bristol in early November, before culminating at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
