‘Red Card‘ is a typical grime track. The instrumental has a home studio feel, which rolls over a chilling pipe sound and a fast-paced drum beat. The emcee’s are no strangers to the genre, and therefore it comes together with a vintage sound which will fill raves and dance tents.

Frisco released the track alongside a music video. The clip is simple. It depicts the rap group delivering their respective verses in front of Nelson’s column. It is a visual statement that affirms the rap groups iconography. This is because the group shot it in front of London’s most renowned landmarks. Through the clip, BBK essentially convey a sentiment that they are the Grime scene equivalent of the column; a towering beacon that represents London’s global influence.

Boy Better Know’s iconic squad of Grime artists flood ‘Red Card‘ with a potent sound. The recognisable deliveries of Skepta, JME and Frisco are iconic, and this is recognised by the music video which places them alongside Nelson’s column.

Dizzee Rascal collaborated with Chip, to release the single ‘L.L.L.L‘, on the 20th of August. Dizzee released the single alongside a music video.

The four L’s stand for ‘Love Life Live Large‘, which is the track’s chorus. The two East London emcees delivered powerful verses over a typically energetic instrumental. Dizzee Rascal’s flow is imperious and it augments the track’s potency. Chip adds a dash of panache with his word-play.

The music video shows the pair living the high life in a stately home. Fast cars and jet-skis appear as Dizzee, dressed in a flash tweed suit, tries his hand at clay pigeon shooting. The result is a clip that crackles with vigour.

‘L.L.L.L‘ is the first single from Dizzee Rascal’s upcoming album, ‘E3 AF’. The project is set to be released on October the 9th. It will feature huge grime acts such as Ghetts, Kano and Frisco. Dizzee is a veteran. His new project is his 7th studio album, he rose to fame with his gritty debut ‘Boy in Da Corner‘ (2003).

Dizzee Rascal is British grime royalty. He pioneered the scene, alongside Wiley. E3 AF may become a triumphant homecoming, if the snarling ‘L.L.L.L‘ is anything to go by.

Frisco, D Double E and Ghetts dropped a collaboration named ‘Colours’, on Friday the 24th of July. The single displays a vintage Grime sound, and is available to stream on all platforms.

Production duo Splurgeboys create the instrumental that underpins ‘Colours‘. A creeping pipe sound slithers over a classic, stripped-back, Grime beat. It provides a blank canvas for the emcee’s to flex their lyrical talent. The trident of artists provide separate, unique, dimensions to the track. Frisco’s flow meanders with the beat to indulge a melodic opening, whereas Ghetts contributes his characteristic punchy word-play to add a splash of flair. Finally, D Double E’s sickly tone echoes through the track’s final stages. He reverberates over a bridge and verse, casting a shadowy presence that sticks with the listener.

Publicity over the new release has been limited. Out of the artists involved, only Frisco released a teaser on social media. The lack of press indicates the artist’s skill and magnitude. Confidence in their abilities and outreach means that they do not need promotion in order for fans to listen. Early reviews indicate that Ghetts, Frisco and D Double E made the correct assumption. GRM Daily labelled the track ‘hard‘ and a ‘steady, head-popping tune‘.

The collaboration is memorable due to the artists involved. D Double E is one of Grime’s founding fathers. He is one half of the legendary Grime group, The Newham Generals. His distinctive Ad-Libs and flow have filled Grime raves for 20 years, and inspired many of today’s artists. Ghetts and Frisco occupy similar iconic status within the UK Grime scene. Ghetts is one of the most prolific emcees around, whilst Frisco is a key figure within the iconic BBK record label. Therefore the trident of talent represents a significant combination of individuals within the genre.

‘Colours‘ is a triumphant combination of Grime’s biggest names A raw, uncut, instrumental provides the artists with a background on which they are able to demonstrate their talent. The result is a single which bubbles, threatens and excites in a way that is unique to the music genre. The release will be a pleasant surprise for fans, given its lack of publicity. ‘Colours’ is a diverse listening experience which demonstrates the abilities of Ghetts, D Double E and Frisco.

Chase & Status have released the fourth and final installment in their series of Grime tracks featuring some of the scene’s finest MC’s.

The London Bars series has already seen the likes of Giggs, Frisco, and Bonkaz, spitting over some seriously heavyweight cuts from the Drum & Bass heroes. The final volume, ‘Bigger Man Sound’, has rounded off the series with Grime 2.0 prodigy Novelist – the de facto leader of Lewisham based ‘The Square’ crew.

Unlike the other entries into the series, which employ the the pulse wave basslines and Eskibeats Grime is famous for, ‘Bigger Man Sound’ features devastating brass sounds over trap flavoured beats, reminiscent of Chase & Status’ Pusha T collab ‘Machine Gun’, off of their album Brand New Machine. You can check out the video for ‘Bigger Man Sound’ below:

This isn’t the first time Chase & Status have featured Grime MC’s on their tracks. In 2011 they released ‘Hypest Hype’ featuring Tempa T, the spiritual successor to Tempz’ legendary ’09 anthem ‘Next Hype’.

While we’re all waiting with bated breath for a follow up album to 2013’s Brand New Machine the London Bars series is reaffirmation that Chase & Status can start a fire with any bass heavy genre. However until we do get any information about a new album there is a Craig David collaboration on the horizon for the duo, which he described as “pure flames, man”.
