Field Day Announce Additional Acts for 2019’s Festival Including Mahalia, Flohio and Many More

The London-based festival, Field Day has announced the second wave of artists that will be joining its already stellar 2019 line-up. Among the names revealed are some of today’s most biggest and current names, including rising neo-soul star Mahalia, London-based MC Flohio, and experimental rap collective, Death Grips. The two-day festival will take place, at Meridian Water, in North London, between the 7th and 8th of June 2019. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here.

The festival will see 2019’s edition moving venue to a “ground breaking” new location, Meridian Water, in North London. The new site is made up of a ten-acre outdoor space with four interlinked warehouses, the largest of which will be the biggest warehouse venue for music in the city, which has a capacity of 7,500. The new location, not only comes with a large capacity, it will allow Field Day to become the latest-running festival in London, with a 3am license.

Among the other names recently confirmed to appear at the two-day festival, and joining Mahalia, Flohio, and Death Grips, include Kojey Radical, Alfie Templeman, Homeshake and Femi Kuti. The announcement comes after additional names were added to the festival’s late-running DJ programme, which included John Talabot and Nocturnal Sunshine, who will be joining Modeselektor and George FitzGerald — both of whom had already been confirmed for live sets.

The additional names will join an already stellar line-up, which includes headliners Skepta and Jorja Smith. Among the other first names announced is Actress, Bonobo, Diplo, Earl Sweatshirt, Pusha-T, Sinkane, Diplo, Jungle, Octavian, and The Black Madonna.

The following acts are on the bill for Friday the 7th, and will be kick starting this year’s stellar edition, is headliner Skepta, Actress, Bonobo DJ Set, Boy Azooga, Charlotte Adigéry, Death Grips, Deerhunter, Earl Sweatshirt, Femi Kuti, George FitzGerald, HÆLOS, Homeshake, Jessica Winter, Julia Holter, Jungle, Kelly Lee Owens, Kojey Radical, Leon Vynehall, Lost Souls of Saturn (live), Mahalia, Methyl Ethel, Modeselektor, and Pip Blom. Cncluding the show, on Friday, and featuring on the late night show are George FitzGerald, Leon Vynehall, Modeselektor, and Nocturnal Sunshine.

Meanwhile, the acts on the bill, for Saturday the 8th, and following on from the stellar Friday line-up is headliner Jorja Smith, Diplo, Alfie Templeman, The Black Madonna, Celeste, Courtesy, Denis Sulta, DJ Seinfeld, Eclair Fifi, Erol Alkan, Fall Forward, Flohio, Grainger, HAAi, John Talabot, Jvck James, JPEGMAFIA, Mall Grab, Marie Davidson (live), The Mauskovic Dance Band, Mella Dee, MorMor, Octavian, Pusha-T, Rachel Chinouriri, Red Axes DJ Set, Roosevelt, Seth Troxler, Sinkane, Skee Mask, Todd Terje DJ Set. While, rounding off the show, on Saturday, and featuring on the late night performances are Denis Sulta, HAAi, Mella Dee, and Tiga.

The BBC Sound of 2019 Longlist has been Announced which Includes Rising Star Mahalia

The BBC Sound of 2019 longlist has been revealed, and it’s a list that leans strongly on solo artist as the stars of the next year. This year’s top five will be revealed in January, on Radio 1 and BBC News, with one artist announced each day from Monday the 7th of January. The winner will then be revealed on Friday the 11th of January.

Now in its 17th year, the list showcases the hottest rising stars, that we should keep our eye on in 2019. Mahalia and Slowthai, flamenco singer Rosalía, R&B star Ella Mai, and pop artist King Princess are all among the rising stars, who have made it onto the BBC’s Sound of 2019 longlist.

The prestigious accolade celebrates acts that have been tipped for success in the forthcoming year, with previous winners including the like of 2018 victor Sigrid, Years & Years & Sam Smith, and Adele. Topping the list “helped me so much with reaching a new audience and giving my music some extra exposure on the radio,” says, last years winner, Sigrid.

All 10 artists on the longlist were selected by a panel of 136 influential figures inside the music industry, broadcasters and DJs, including Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis, former nominees Ellie Goulding and Stormzy, and Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander. To qualify for the accolade, nominees can’t be “widely known by the UK general public”, and will not qualify if they have been the main artist on a single or record that has charted in the UK top 10 prior to the 22nd of October 2018.

The BBC Sound of 2019 longlist was voted for by 136 critics, broadcasters and DJs, including former nominees Ellie Goulding and Stormzy.This year’s selection focuses more on solo acts, with only one band in the top 10, and for the first time, the list includes an artist who performs in Spanish.

Catalan-born singer Rosalía has hit a gold mine, by fusing flamenco rhythms with the aesthetics of trap and hip-hop, with the star recently winning two Latin Grammys for her breakout hit ‘Malamente’. Rosalía, signed to Sony, is being promoted as a mainstream act in the UK, rather than being relegated to the ghetto of “world music” – a sure sign of Latin pop’s increasing significance.

James Stirling, the head of BBC Music and BBC Music Introducing, said: “For 17 years the BBC Music Sound Of list has been celebrating exciting up-and-coming talent and this year we are proud to recognise the work of such an eclectic mix of musicians. There’s a wealth of talent coming through and I look forward to seeing the artists build their reputations in 2019”.

As 2019 rolls round, the BBC reckons that it could be the year that the likes of Mahalia, Grace Carter, King Princess and Slowthai could achieve huge success. The full list of nominees includes Dermot Kennedy – ‘Power Over Me’, Ella Mai – ‘Boo’d Up’, Flohio – ‘Wild Yout’, Grace Carter – ‘Silence’, King Princes – ‘1950’, Mahalia – ‘Wish I Missed My Ex’, Octavian – ‘Party Here’, Rosalía – ‘Malamente’, Sea Girls – ‘Too Much Fun’, and Slowthai – ‘Ladies’.

Speaking about the list, BBC Radio 1 DJ, Annie Mac said: “The list is filled with incredibly talented people and is a real reflection of where music is heading in 2019. So many of the artists are truly innovating in their fields. It’s exciting to champion new music across the BBC and share these artists with the audience.”

The 2019 Longitude Festival Reveals First Acts of Lineup

The first series of acts have been revealed for the 2019 Longitude Festival, with the likes of ASAP Rocky, Chance the Rapper, and Brockhampton amongst those leading the line up for the summer 2019 festival. Dublin’s Longitude Festival will take place in Marley Park between the July 5 to July 7. The full list of names, which has been announced can be found below.

The first series of acts have been announced with ASAP Rocky and Chance the Rapper leading the line-up announcement. Among the other acts to be announced are Future, Brockhampton, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Uzi Vert, Juice WRLD, Versatile, Aminé, and Denzel Curry. Other artists included in the announcement are $uicideboy$, Lil Baby, Sheck Wes, Clairo, Slowthai, and Flohio.

Luckily enough tickets for the festival will go on sale before the 2019 VAT increase is put in place, as tickets will go on sale this Friday (7 December) at 10 am, allowing fans to enjoy the 2018 prices. There is said to be a limited amount of weekend tickets priced at €189.50. Tickets will be available for purchase via Ticketmaster.

Excitement levels remain high as tensions rise regarding the performances. Fans are looking forward to see what Future and Juice WRLD have to offer after releasing a joint album mid-October, titled ‘World On Drugs’. Flohio is a female which we should keep a lookout for, despite being at the beginning of her career, she is making bigger moves than the majority of the artists that are out right now.

Longitude is well-known for its immaculate hip-hop lineups each year. The 2018 line up included the likes of Migos, Travis Scott, Solange, and J-Cole. The year before Dublin welcomed Skepta and Mac Miller to their stage. Whether or not this year’s line up will be as strong is yet to be revealed, however, as it stands right now the 2019 line up is a strong contender.

The full line-up alongside the day tickets will become available at the start of the new year.
