The whole video seems indeed to be dedicated to the concept of touching: The people in the video are hugging, kissing, dancing – basically are doing all the things we currently can’t do. And of course, there’s a lot of watermelon involved as well.

“Tastes like strawberries on a summer evenin’ and it sounds just like a song. I want more berries and that summer feelin’ it’s so wonderful and warm”, Styles sings, and we can basically feel the temperature in the room heating up, just like the sun shining at the beach displayed on screen. With loads of bright and warm colours and a filter that gives the whole video a retro vibe, it makes one feel nostalgic.

Harry Styles is not only known for his music but also his extravagant and unique style (just last year he co-hosted the Met Gala as the youngest co-host in history of the event), and of course he had his designer Harry Lambert add a touch of that to the video. The sun-kissed models are wearing knit bikinis and in the opening scene of the video Styles himself is sitting at a table on the beach, wearing a knit cropped top, paired with a huge pair of blue sunglasses. Throughout the video he changes his outfit a couple of times, from hippie shirts to pop art shirts and another cropped jumper paired with a floral scarf, Styles has got it all – and the fans are loving it. All over Twitter, his fans are comparing the footage of Harry in the music video to Elton John. And they seem to like it: The photo Styles has posted on Instagram to announce the release of the music video has gained over 1 million likes in less than 20 minutes.

During those difficult times where many are questioning if they will experience any kind of summer vacation or the joy of hugging their friends, Harry Styles has managed to make us feel the happiness of summer nights with friends, even if it’s just for a few minutes of the Watermelon Sugar music video.

Taking to his Instagram, Styles wrote: “Anyone who knows me, knows that performing has always been my favourite part of working in music. However, during times like these, the safety and protection of touring crew, fans, and everyone else around the world is an immediate priority.

Styles, who will be joined on his trek of the UK and Europe by King Princess, was originally supposed to kick start the UK leg of his 26-day tour in Birmingham, on April 15 2020. However, is now scheduled to begin the UK leg of the tour in Birmingham, on March 11 2021. Styles will then make stops across the UK hitting venues in Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield, and Dublin before he concludes in London, on March 24 2021.

Harry concluded his announcement by saying, “For the safety of yourself and others, please self-isolate. We’re all in this together. I can’t wait to see you out on the road as soon as it’s safe to do so. Until then, treat people with kindness. H”

The upcoming tour was in support of his second solo album, ‘Fine Line’, which has already given us tracks like ‘Adore You’. He has not made a formal announcement about his North American shows, with Jenny Lewis and Koffee, just yet but he did write that he and his team are “closely monitoring the situation around the world and will continue updating you in the months to come.”
