Legendary British guitarist and ex-member of The Smiths Johnny Marr has released a new double album entitled Fever Dreams Pt 1-4 via BMG as of February 25th. Marr has begun a two-week long tour of in-store signing appearances in celebration of the record’s release, where he will be meeting fans at record stores across the UK. You can listen to the new album on all streaming services, and physical copies can be purchased here.

Marr will be stopping at seven stores on this tour; yesterday marked his first stop at Piccadilly Records in Manchester, and later dates will see him appearing at Rough Trade East and West in London, Resident Records in Brighton, Rough Trade Nottingham, Bear Tree Records in Sheffield and Jumbo Records in Leeds, between February 28th and March 3rd. In order to guarantee a place at one of these signings, fans can order the new album from their local record store.

Fever Dreams Pt 1-4 includes the singles “Night and Day”, “Tenement Time”, “Sensory Street” and “Spirit, Power and Soul” and has already been warmly received by critics, with The Times calling it a “magnum opus, his most fully formed album yet” and NME calling it “a soulful record fuelled by fresh ideas” according to a recent press release. The album is Marr’s fourth solo effort, following on from 2018’s Call The Comet, and consist of sixteen songs.

Marr said of the album, again according to a press release: “There’s a set of influences and a very broad sound that I’ve been developing – really since getting out of The Smiths until now, and I hear it in this record. There are so many strands of music in it. We didn’t do that consciously, but I think I’ve got a vocabulary of sound. And I feel very satisfied that I’ve been able to harness it…It’s an inspired record and I couldn’t wait to get in to record every day. I still have that feeling of it being a privilege to make records, I almost feel a duty to bring the guitar, and a guitar attitude, to the fore of what I think is modern music.”

As well as the signing dates, the guitarist will also be embarking on a UK tour in April with Blondie. A full list of dates can be viewed down below, and tickets can be found here.
