British punk-rap duo Bob Vylan finds themselves yet again in a state of post-concert controversy after their live performance in Amsterdam’s Paradiso on September 13. Following pointed remarks about the late Charlie Kirk, the venue set to host them in Tilburg, 013, has announced that it will no longer be hosting the band as they proceed on their European tour.

The planned venue has declared this comes as a direct result of comments made by the band’s frontman, Bobby Vylan, in regards to the recent death of right-wing American activist, Charlie Kirk. During their Paradiso performance, Bobby Vylan referred to Charlie Kirk – shot and killed three days prior in Utah – as “an absolute piece of s*** of a human being”, adding “The pronouns was/were. ‘Cause if you chat s*** you will get banged. Rest in piss, Charlie Kirk”. Within the preceding 48 hours, Tilburg’s 013 removed Bob Vylan from their upcoming events schedule.

The venue itself, in tone with its renowned reputation in preserving and replenishing the local cultural climate, acknowledge that punk and political activism exist as a test of boundaries. However, in this case, Bob Vylan has gone ‘too far’ in the eyes of 013, ultimately prompting the venue to believe Bob Vylan no longer encompasses the scope of what the venue seeks to offer as a musical platform.

Boby Vylan, for their involvement, has published a responding video statement on X, specifically rejecting the fact that their concert was labelled as a ‘celebration’ of Charlie Kirk’s death. In the video, Bobby Vylan makes an effort to differentiate his criticism of a public figure with a confused message for applauding violence, stating, “At no point was Charlie Kirk’s death celebrated… If it was, go find me a quote… you’re not gonna find it”.

This is not the first time the band has suffered direct cancellations following controversial comments. Earlier this year, Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury performance and the chants of ‘Death to the IDF’ prompted a police investigation, and their US visas were revoked.

Bob Vylan have built their musical reputation upon their stance as fiercely independent artists, adamant on releasing music free of major-label control in an attempt to speak directly to fans. However, in a run of cancellation and controversy, the Tilburg’s cancellation could demand further venue losses.

For venues and promoters, the band is increasingly associating itself with a career built on friction. Smaller venues like Tilburg’s 013 demonstrate the risk that middle-ground inhabitants occupy, caught between promoting musical activism and safeguarding their patrons, audience, and reputation.

Nick Cave, the dark poet of rock and roll, is returning to Europe for an exclusive solo tour in summer 2025, bringing his singular intensity to a string of intimate venues across the continent. Armed with just a grand piano and the brooding basslines of Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, Cave will strip his music down to its rawest form—offering fans an unfiltered experience of his haunting storytelling and devastating ballads.

The tour begins June 10 in Zurich, Switzerland, and winds its way through Germany, Italy, France, Norway, Latvia, and Bulgaria, culminating in a final, spellbinding performance at the ancient Plovdiv Amphitheater on August 19. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 31 at 10 AM local time on Cave’s website.

Nick Cave’s concerts have long been considered as more than just gigs—they’re spiritual experiences. Whether he’s whispering at the piano or unleashing his full fury, his performances are a communion between artist and audience, where every lyric feels carved from the depths of his soul.

His musical style is a haunting blend of gothic rock, blues, and post-punk, but it’s his ability to turn every song into a narrative that truly sets him apart. His lyrics, often steeped in biblical allusion and steeped in a kind of fevered mysticism, are more akin to literary prose than standard songwriting. He sings of love, death, violence, and redemption with a delivery that moves from sultry crooning to full-throated, manic rants. His early work with The Bad Seeds pulsed with raw, chaotic energy, but as his career evolved, so did his sound. Cave’s later albums lean toward lush orchestration and minimalistic piano ballads, creating a sound as simply heartbreaking as it is sweepingly cinematic. His music is both timeless and otherworldly, a space where the shadows of old gospel, blues, and noir cinema collide in a whirlpool of dark intensity.

Cave has only undertaken two solo tours before, making his upcoming tour his highly anticipated third. The first, Conversations with Nick Cave (2018-2020), was an intimate, unscripted experience where Cave performed solo on piano and shared personal stories, including his grief after the loss of his son, Arthur. A film, recorded at the Ally Pally, was released in September 2020. In 2022, Cave returned for his second solo tour, joined by Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood on bass, with minimalist performances that mixed Bad Seeds classics and newer material from Ghosteen and Carnage.

This solo tour follows his North American run with St. Vincent and comes just months after the release of ‘Wild God,’ his latest album with The Bad Seeds. Known for his ability to reimagine his catalog with each new tour, Cave may surprise fans with stripped-down versions of both old classics and new masterpieces.

While no official setlist has been revealed, Cave’s solo shows often include deeply personal, piano-driven favourites. ‘Into My Arms’—written during his time in rehab—seems inevitable, as does ‘O Children,’ a track discovered by a new generation after its inclusion in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Songs like ‘Jubilee Street’ and ‘The Mercy Seat’ have taken on mythic status in his live repertoire, and with ‘Wild God’ still fresh, tracks like ‘Joy’ or ‘The Break’ could take on even greater emotional weight in this stripped-back format.

This tour’s venues are as much a part of the experience as the music itself. From the grand Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg to the ruins of Pompei’s amphitheater, every space has been carefully chosen to amplify Cave’s dark magic. Expect candlelit intensity, whispered prayers, and a sense that for a few hours, the outside world has ceased to exist.

British pop rock band The 1975 have shared their first single since 2022, a cover of ‘Now Is The Hour’ for the soundtrack of the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series The New Look. Starring Emmy Award winner Ben Mendelsohn, Oscar recipient Juliette Binoche and Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, the series will explore the rise of legendary fashion designers Christian Dior and his contemporaries Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, and Cristóbal Balenciaga during World War II. Jack Antonoff produced the series soundtrack, which features many of his collaborators and friends covering celebrated songs from the era. Antonoff co-produced The 1975’s fifth studio album ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’, and also recorded covers for the soundtrack from other major UK acts such as Florence + The Machine and Beabadoobee.

The 10-song soundtrack’s first single is fronted by Florence + The Machine in a haunting cover of ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ popularised by British singer Vera Lynn. The 1975 followed suit with ‘Now Is The Hour’, a traditional Māori song once used to bid farewell to soldiers leaving to fight in World War I. The piece has been credited to various artists and songwriters over the years but was first made famous in the 1940s and 50s by Hollywood stars like Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. The 1975’s Matt Healy offers a hushed, delicate take on the song, with ambient vocals erupting into horns, only to return to a gentle instrumental. The remaining half of the soundtrack features covers from the likes of Perfume Genius, Nick Cave and Lana Del Rey.

The historical drama, which was created by Todd A. Kessler, will span 10 episodes, with the first three episodes set to arrive globally next Wednesday, February 14 on Apple TV+. Meanwhile, The 1975 are set to embark on their upcoming 2024 ‘Still…At Their Very Best’ UK tour this evening, with their first show taking place at the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow which has seen superfans camp out overnight in icy conditions.

Despite a series of controversies looming over Healy last year, the frontman has since made a public apology to his fans and those he has allegedly offended. The group boast four sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena, continuing on to their European leg of the tour which will conclude in Copenhagen on March 10. All remaining tickets for the UK tour are available here.

The New Look full soundtrack:

British funk group Cymande have officially reformed after splitting more than five decades ago. Finding their success one muggy summer in the early 1970s, the group went on to bag overnight recognition, concocting an eclectic mix of funk, soul, reggae, rock, African music, calypso, and jazz which they dubbed ‘nyah-rock’, a genre that appealed to a variety of music fans from different backgrounds, and shaped an entire nation. The group released three albums before making the decision to part ways in 1974, just less than three years after they had formed, but with a European and Australian tour just around the corner, it’s safe to say that Cymande’s journey is far from over yet.

Original members Steve Scipio (bass) and Patrick Patterson (guitar) had previously jammed together in the jazz fusion group Metre. The love affair with music began when Scipio had followed his family as a young boy from Guyana to Balham in South London in 1963, soon befriending Patterson who at the time was developing a real passion for rock music. Scipio, however, was a jazz lover, and took up bass. Before they knew it, they were enlisting other members to join them on their quest to tackle the British jazz circuit.

After a series of gigs at universities and working man’s clubs in the north, the dream had seemingly been snuffed out after drummer Phil Gibbs upped sticks and moved to Australia, pushing the duo to find a more permanent home – this time, at the prestigious Ronnie Scott’s in Soho. The pair were discovered by British R&B singer John Schroeder after he had stumbled upon them upstairs during rehearsals. Schroeder decided to take them under his wing, recording some of their demos and convincing Janus Records to sign them.

Cymande’s name derives from the calypso word for ‘dove’, which also shares the same name and lies in duality with one of their more known tracks, which followed their first single ‘The Message’. Once released into the ether, the group quickly began to make a name for themselves across the pond, with the song charting in the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B charts in the United States – a quasi-jazz-funk groove with hints of reggae that captured their essence perfectly. This quickly extended into invitations to tour with iconic American acts such as Al Green, funk-rock band Mandrill and jazz musician Ramsey Lewis.

Despite all of the buzz surrounding them, disagreements on style began to creep to the surface. Original lead singer Ray King’s departure pushed him to guide other artists on their journeys to success, including the formation of The Specials, and inevitably led him to be replaced by Joey Dee.

With a mixed Afro-Caribbean heritage, there was a real sense of community, with sometimes up to eight or nine members of the group interchangeably. Boasting a rich cultural identity and symbiotic relationship, the group were able to explore their sound a little deeper. ‘Brothers On The Slide’ was then born, and the group began to take over. Unbeknownst to them, Cymande had become the soundtrack to summer outings in the park, sticky basement jams and nightclubs throughout New York. By the turn of the 90s, their sound had grown particularly popular during the dawn of the hip-hop and house scene and had spread across numerous genres, with musicians like the Fugees and Wu-Tang Clan scrambling to sample them. Flattered by the recognition from different artists, the group have been promoting a specially curated Spotify playlist that includes all of the songs that have sampled their music.

Fast-forward to 2024, Cymande have embraced the digital age with open arms, taking to Instagram to announce their 2024 European and Australian tour, as well as a performance at O2 Shepherd’s Bush in London on April 20. The group said: “Our April show at @abconcerts in Brussels is now SOLD OUT. Thank you all very much. It’s been thrilling to see the excitement from all of you around this tour. Tickets are moving very quickly for Amsterdam and London so don’t miss out!”

The first page in a remarkable new chapter, the band have also unveiled the upcoming release of their own documentary Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande which was first launched at film festivals in 2022. Directed by Tim Mackenzie-Smith, the documentary is said to tell the ultimate musical survival story, transporting you from 70s Brixton to 90s New York to a present revival decades later.

Showcasing their legacy, influence and cult following throughout the ages, it will also feature interviews with Mark Ronson, Laura Lee and Mark Speer (Khruangbin), DJ Maseo (De La Soul), Jazzie B (Soul II Soul), Cut Chemist, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Louie Vega and Kool DJ Red Alert.

Getting It Back will touch down in UK and Irish cinemas on February 16 2024, with tickets available to pre-book now. The film will be screened in select theatres, including BFI (Southbank), Bertha DocHouse, Ritzy, Ealing Picturehouse, Picturehouse FACT, Hackney Picturehouse, Picturehouse Central, West Norwood Picturehouse, and many more to come.

Sharing their excitement surrounding the film’s premiere, the band commented: “We are thrilled to announce that Getting It Back: The Story Of Cymande will premiere at @britishfilminstitute Southbank in London on February 13th! That event will feature a Q&A and an after party as well...Come celebrate with us!”

An inspiration to musicians around the globe, Cymande’s discography has clearly stood the test of time, and with bands like Ezra Collective being crowned Mercury Prize winners, it appears there is a welcomed return of jazz and funk to the UK soundscape. Voiced in a statement posted on their official website, the band are said to be “currently working on new music to be released later in 2024.” You can listen to and browse through Cymande’s musical history here.

The group, originally from Halifax, had not played at the West Yorkshire venue since 1995, with their return marking the 30th anniversary of the release of their critically acclaimed fourth studio album Icon.

The show at St George’s Hall formed part of the group’s ‘Embers of Europe’ tour, which kicked off at the o2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on December 1 and will conclude at the Altice Arena in Lisbon tomorrow evening (December 16). The tour also saw Paradise Lost perform in four other European cities, including Istanbul, Sofia, Thessaloniki and Athens.

Lead vocalist Nick Holmes returned to St George’s Hall after telling the BBC about his prior experiences there, including seeing legendary metal band Metallica at the iconic Bradford venue. He stated, ‘I went to see Metallica playing there as a kid in 1986. There was a mosh pit going and I remember being a bit scared, I’d never experienced anything like that before. The more extreme end of music completely spoke to me on so many levels, I just fell in love with it.”

Paradise Lost were formed in Halifax in 1988, with a line-up consisting of vocalist Nick Holmes, guitarists Greg Mackintosh and Aaron Aedy, bassist Steve Edmonson and drummer Matthew Archer. Each member bar the drummer has remained a constant in the group, with Guido Montanarini, the sixth drummer in the band’s history, taking up the role presently.

The band have amassed a strong cult following in the past three decades, particularly in Northern and Eastern Europe, areas where heavy metal has traditionally flourished as a genre. Paradise Lost are also considered to be among the pioneers of the death-doom genre, and are regarded as the main influence for the rise in popularity of gothic metal. They have released a total of sixteen studio albums, with their first LP, Lost Paradise, coming in 1990 and their most recent original release, Obsidian, arriving in 2020.

South Wales rock band Casey are ramping up the excitement in anticipation of their new album after announcing a UK and European run of shows in 2024. The band released the lead off single to their third album, “Puncture Wounds To Heaven” back in September and are now looking forward to bringing some new material to the UK and mainland Europe beginning in March.

Casey are in celebratory mood after their reformation and announcement of their third studio record. And what better way to revel in the band’s newly formed iteration than with a tour through the UK and Europe. The band enthused, “we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be returning to mainland Europe, along with some shows in the UK, to celebrate our upcoming album. You’ll hear more about that very soon!”

The band went on to add, “Thank you for your patience; we’re aware it’s been a long time since our last headline shows in January, and we’re excited to be able to play some additional cities this time out. Along with our headline shows, we’re thrilled to be joining the Impericon Festivals this year. We can’t wait to celebrate the upcoming album with you at these shows!”

The band will begin the tour in Islington in London before heading onto the continent and ending full circle with a performance in Glasgow, Scotland. In between, some of the European dates include appearances at the Impericon Festivals tour which will run through Germany, Austria and Switzerland in early Spring.

Almost exactly to the day, one month ago, Casey dropped their first single off of what will become their third album, “Puncture Wounds To Heaven.” Speaking about the meaning behind the song, frontman Tom Weaver said that the song “centres around the themes of apathy and the guilt that can arise as a result. The ‘coming up for air’ sensation as you briefly snap out of a depressive episode, and survey how life has progressed around you.”

As far as what fans can expect from the band on their third release, Weaver added, “This is a core theme that carries throughout the new record, and musically the dichotomy between the smooth verses and the chaotic middle 8 really demonstrated that in a visceral way for us.”

After releasing two studio albums, Casey decided to call it quits in 2019, with various members of the band going off to begin new projects. But, much to their fans delighted surprise, the band announced in 2022 that they would be reforming and quickly set about touring and recording a new album.

The ‘Spicy Meatball‘ tour has been ongoing since the duo, made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, performed their song of the same name as the tour at Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta in May 2023.
Tenacious D was formed in Los Angeles in 1994 by actors and friends Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Prior to signing with Epic Records in 2000, the comedy rock duo supported larger rock acts such as Weezer, Tool and Beck, and released their debut, self-titled album Tenacious D in 2001, an album that featured a backing band, including Dave Grohl on drums. This first album also contained the track ‘Tribute‘, a song that has since catapulted the duo to worldwide fame.

Tenacious D released their second album, The Pick of Destiny, in 2006, an album that also featured as the soundtrack to Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, a film the duo starred in. Their third album, Rize of the Fenix, was released in 2012 via Columbia Records and their fourth and most recent album came in 2018 as the duo released Post-Apocalypto, an LP that accompanied the hand-drawn Youtube web series Tenacious D in Post-Apocalypto.

British shoegaze legends Slowdive have announced a UK/EU tour off the back of their new album ‘everything is alive’ which was released last Friday (September 1). Tickets can be purchased here.

The academy sized tour starts at the Parsdiso in Amsterdam on January 24th and commences in Manchester on February 27th. The band announced the tour alongside releasing new single ‘alife’.
‘everything is alive’ marks the band’s second album since reunifying in 2014 and releasing their self-titled album in 2017.

The new album ‘everything is alive’ deals with emotionally heavy themes as band members Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead both dealt with the death of a parent before beginning to record the album. Halstead has however gone on to say: “I thought it was going to be quite a dark record but once we got together as a band, I think some of that darkness lifted and some of the tunes became a bit lighter,”

The band has gained a big cult-following since disbanding in 1995, thanks to the influence of albums like ‘Souvlaki’ and ‘Just for a Day’. The cult-favourite band also played Glastonbury for the first time ever earlier this year.

We are also very pleased to announce our UK and European tour in 2024.

The first part of the tour consists of dates mostly in Northern Europe in cities like Paris, Stockholm and Copenhagen whilst rounding out the latter half of the tour across academy venues in the UK.

The UK dates include stops in Brighton, London, Birmingham, Glasgow and many more.

The band are about to undergo a mostly sold out tour of the United States across September and October, before heading back to the UK and Ireland in October and November to play a selection of shows, of which most are already sold out.

Tickets for the UK shows will go on sale on Wednesday, September 16th and tickets can be purchased here.

British shoegaze band Bdrmm have started a crowdfunder to fund their upcoming autumn tour after a non-payment following a festival appearance has left them out of pocket. The band claim to be owed an outstanding payment of £6,500, without which they will struggle to continue with their autumn European tour, which is scheduled to kick off in Bruges, Belgium on 17 October and end on 5 November in Nijmegen, Netherlands.

The Hull based band last Friday 1 September issued a statement via Twitter (X) concerning their unfortunate circumstances. It read, “Hello! As a band we’re going through some financial hardship due to non-payment by promoters for a performance outside of the country – a show which heavily cost us to get to. This, paired with inflating tour costs, has left us unable to fund our October/November tour. As an independent band, touring is vital to our survival and we rely on promoters to do the decent thing and actually pay us. This is something that hasn’t happened recently regarding a show that promised a substantial fee and has left us seriously out of pocket.”

It continued, “Therefore, we’ve set up a crowdfund to help us recoup the money we have lost due to non-payment.
