New Jersey rock outfit The Gaslight Anthem have announced their return to touring after a four-year break from being on the road. The New Brunswick quartet have announced a run of North American shows and EU/UK shows, with their North American tour scheduled to commence in September, and their EU/UK dates to kick off in August. You can purchase tickets for these upcoming shows here.

For any US fans, the band will be joined by two special guests on their North American tour; indie rock outfit Tigers Jaw, and indie/folk punk rocker Jeff Rosenstock. Brian Fallon, frontman of The Gaslight Anthem, stated on social media: “I am very pleased to announce to you all that The Gaslight Anthem is returning to full time status as a band.” Fallon went on to mention that the band had started putting together new music, saying: “We’re also beginning to write new songs for what will be our sixth LP. We’re looking forward to the future and seeing you all again. We want to thank you for staying with us.”

Hello everyone, Brian here. I hate to disappoint you, but I need to inform you that there will not be a 10th anniversary Handwritten Tour, or a documentary… However, I am very pleased to announce to you all that The Gaslight Anthem is returning to full time status as a band. pic.twitter.com/XtAZEDOWdw

The Gaslight Anthem is comprised of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Brian Fallon, lead guitarist Alex Rosamilia, bassist Alex Levine and drummer Benny Horowitz. Formed in 2006, the band have presently released five full-length albums since their inception, commencing with 2007’s Sink or Swim.

In 2008, the band found success with their second album The ’59 Sound, which was voted the number 1 album of 2008 by eMusic, and received high praise from Pitchfork, who gave the album an 8.6 rating. The group’s success also led them to occupy an unusual but noteworthy position in the world of music journalism; Kerrang! magazine featured the band on their front page without ever having written about the group or any of their past releases. The group received airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, an embarked on their first UK and European tour in November of 2008.

The Gaslight Anthem released three albums following this; 2010’s American Slang, 2012’s Handwritten and 2014’s Get Hurt. Following the band’s 2015 tour in support of Get Hurt, they went on an indefinite hiatus, reuniting briefly in 2018 for a run of shows to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of The ’59 Sound. At this time, frontman Brian Fallon made it clear that The Gaslight Anthem would not be working on new material, and following the show, the band’s hiatus resumed.

Illinois-based industrial metal outfit Ministry have announced their forthcoming UK and EU “Moral Hygiene” tour, which will commence in Dortmund, Germany on the 28th of October. The group will be accompanied by Finnish rock band and Nuclear Blast labelmates The 69 Eyes. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Friday March 25th) at 10AM GMT.

The tour’s namesake comes from the group’s fifteenth studio album Moral Hygiene, which was originally released on October 1st of last year. The album was warmly received by critics and fans alike, with Sonic Perspectives praising both the sonic power of the album and its themes, saying: Not many bands know how to make a statement quite like Ministry, who have long brandished tenets of antifascism, staunch distaste of political corruption, and strong belief in equal rights…With blistering and aggressive riffage, “Moral Hygiene” tears through the wreckage and devastation of a broken world to make a statement while affirming Ministry’s legacy in industrial metal.”

Since their inception in the early 1980s, Ministry have put out a steady stream of musical releases, commencing with their debut full length With Sympathy in 1983. For anyone who know Ministry for their blistering riffs and monstrous vocals, it might come as quite the surprise that the band’s debut was actually a synthpop album, sharing more in common with bands such as Depeche Mode or New Order than the heavy industrial metal sound that the group would later hone. With Sympathy even featured singer Al Jourgensen singing in a somewhat convincing British accent, which he later stated was a homage to bands he loved at the time.

The group ventured into heavier territory with their 1986 sophomore album Twitch, which once again fit snugly into the “new wave” category, but was notably harsher and more intense. This record seems like a natural bridge to the territory that Ministry would inhabit with their next album, 1988’s The Land of Rape and Honey, which saw the band incorporating heavy metal style electric guitars into their sound. Their third album The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste put even more emphasis on the use of guitars, making for a record filled to the brim with urgent, thrashy songs and nightmarish soundscapes.

San Francisco rockers Osees (previously known as The Oh Sees, Thee Oh Sees and Oh Sees, among other monikers) have announced a UK/EU tour for the Summer of this year. The tour will commence on May 7th at The Crossing in Birmingham and will conclude on 15th of July at Welcome to The Village Festival in the Netherlands. Ticket information can be found here.

Osees are set up for a busy year in regard to their touring schedule, and will be embarking on a run of US dates in March before their UK/EU run, and will also be embarking on another four week North American tour which will commence on September 5th in San Francisco, and will conclude in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 3rd. During this tour, the group will be performing all across the US, with dates in Washington, Minnesota, Texas and New York. There will also be a stop in Toronto, Canada. For North American fans, ticket information can be found here.

Osees, who are known for their noisy and psychedelic style of rock music, released their last album Weirdo Hairdo in 2020, a year that saw them changing their name from Oh Sees to Osees. Not only did the group once again change their name in 2020, but they released a whopping four studio albums; Protean Threat, Metamorphosed, Panther Rotate and Weirdo Hairdo, which has taken them up to a grand total of twenty-six studio albums since their formation under the “OCS” moniker.

From the group’s staggering output, there is no doubt that Osees are a prolific outfit, but more than this, they certainly do not sacrifice quality solely to keep adding to their catalogue. Each album the band has released this year has accrued plenty of warm reception from both fans and critics alike. In a glowing review of Protean Threat, Louder Than War said: “It sounds nothing like they have ever done, yet, at the same time, like something that only they could do. It’s those oxymoronical twists and turns that make Osees a delight to hear from every time as they power through their blend of scuzzy garage psych-punk and throw everything possible at you, just to keep you on your toes.”

The band’s discography can be found on all streaming services, and physical copies of their material can be found here.

Listed down below are the band’s upcoming UK tour dates.

The tour announcement comes two months after the release of the band’s fifth full-length studio album Swan Song. The album finds the band experimenting beyond their established heavy sound, with the vicious down tuned guitars prevalent on the record sharing the spotlight with brooding, atmospheric electronics that inhabit the more low-key moments. The first single the band released from the album was “Face Me”, alongside a music video for the song, and the album’s artwork, track list and release date. The second single from the album “Enemy” was released on August 19th, and the third single “Paradigm” was released just a week before the album’s release, with a music video to go along with it. The album is available on all streaming services, and physical media can be bought here.

The Plot In You have never been a band to shy away from gritty, dark lyrical themes, and Swan Song is no different in this regard. Take for example the album’s opening track “Letters To A Dead Friend”, a slow-burning song that sees vocalist Landon Tewers opening up and reflecting on memories of now deceased loved-ones; “I get choked up thinkin’ of things we used to say and do, We probably fucked each other’s lives but now we’re makin’ do.”

The album has received favourable reviews from critics, with Distorted Sound praising it highly, saying; “it is something of a musical progression for the Ohio quartet; a band never exactly known for their conformity to mediocrity. As they drive away from their demons with tyres screeching and smoking, they have also well and truly continued to leave their metalcore beginnings stranded in their wake”.

The Plot In You are currently on tour in the United States in support of the album alongside Silverstein, who are celebrating their twentieth anniversary as a band.

UK indie artist Declan McKenna has recently announced a series of rescheduled tour dates for 2022, following the unfortunate cancellation of a few dates of his recent UK tour for his second album “Zeros” due to positive COVID-19 tests.

McKenna has rescheduled four dates: one in Liverpool, two in Manchester and one in Nottingham, and has confirmed that these will now take place ahead of his rescheduled European tour that commences in May 2022.

Rescheduled shows in Liverpool, Nottingham and Manchester have been added to the front of our tour next year. For those who can’t make the new dates please head to point of purchase for returns etc, so excited to finish this tour off properly, thanks for your patience xx pic.twitter.com/tjK8TSRztA

— Declan mckenna (@DeclanMcKenna) September 29, 2021

The “Zeros” tour was initially announced in July of 2020; however, it sadly suffered the same fate as every prospective tour at the time and was postponed in February of 2021, with McKenna originally planning for the tour to run from March to May of 2021. McKenna finally embarked on the tour in August of this year, kicking off the run of shows with a performance at Junction in Cambridge.

On September 6th, prior to the gig at Liverpool’s O2 Academy, McKenna announced via social media that one of his band members had tested positive for COVID-19, and consequently, the next two shows had to be cancelled. The tour resumed on September 9th at the O2 Academy in Leicester, however, McKenna informed fans on September 13th that he himself had tested positive, stating: “Although I had covid just 2 months ago, and it is largely advised not to take tests for 90 days after having covid due to potential for false positives, it’s been standard procedure among my whole team to test very regularly in the interest of safety, and one of the tests that I took has come up as positive.”

Much to the relief of fans who had booked tickets for the remainder of the tour, McKenna announced that he had tested negative on September 16th, and was able to proceed with his show at the UEA campus in Norwich.

In other recent news, Declan McKenna has teased a possible musical collaboration with fellow UK artist Sam Fender, with McKenna telling NME in a video interview at Reading Festival; “Sam Fender and I will get in the studio at some point”. Fender joined McKenna on stage at Leeds Festival for a performance of McKenna’s hit song “Brazil”, making the prospect of a creative collaboration between the two seem even more likely.

As mentioned previously, Declan McKenna’s rescheduled tour dates will take place ahead of his EU tour in May 2022, the first of which being the Liverpool show at the O2 Academy on May 4th. The rescheduled tour dates are listed down below. Tickets for the EU tour can be purchased here, along with any remaining tickets for the next few shows of his current UK tour.

04/05/2022- O2 Academy- Liverpool
05/05- Albert Hall- Manchester
06/05- Albert Hall- Manchester
09/05- Rock City, Nottingham

“Roots Below” remains true to the sound that metalcore fans associate with As I Lay Dying, featuring a flurry of tremolo picking and relentless double bass drum hits from the outset, wasting little time with slow-burn introductions. Guitarist Phil Sgrosso said of the new single: ” ‘Roots Below’ was a track I initially wrote for the “Shaped By Fire” album, but at the time we collectively felt it needed more time and attention to develop to its fullest potential.”

As I Lay Dying was founded in 2000 by vocalist Tim Lambesis, and are widely regarded as a quintessential metalcore group, standing alongside the likes of Killswitch Engage, Unearth and Chimaira, to name just a few. The band currently has seven full-length studio albums to their name, with arguably their most popular of these being their fourth album “An Ocean Between Us” (2007), an album that set a standard for the metalcore genre with its brutal synergy between screamed vocals and ferocious and melodic riffs, contrasted by moody, instrumental lulls.

The band’s last album “Shaped By Fire” was released in 2019, and the group has recently announced a full track list of the upcoming deluxe edition. The full track list can be seen below.
