London Rock band Wolf Alice joined The Evening Show with Dan O’Connell on Radio X last night to talk some more about their upcoming album. Lead singer, Ellie Rowsell teased new details about the band’s new album ‘The Clearing’, telling fans that they will be “surprised” by it and letting them know that there is a “bunch more” tracks varying from their freshly released new single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’.

Ellie explained the band’s new material to the host saying: “I feel like yes, it is a taste, but I think you’ll maybe be surprised when you listen to the rest of the record in the context of ‘Bloom Baby Bloom.’ But yeah, a little bit of a taster, but don’t think there’s going to be a bunch more ‘Bloom Baby Blooms.’”

Also discussing the band’s brand new single, Rowsell explained the track explores themes of self-empowerment, noting: “I like that you said it feels like a mantra, because I like the idea that of someone listening to it and feeling like that about themselves.”

When asked about the vocal style on ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ and comparisons to Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, Rowsell responded: “Oh my God, I would never dare try to do that! But I think I was kind of thinking about rock singers who sing in falsetto, and he’s obviously like… I get scared that I mentioned Axl Rose, because I don’t actually know a lot of his music! But yeah, stylistically he can go very high, can’t he?”

The band is also set to go back on tour later this year after the album release on August 29th. ‘The Clearing’ leans on a golden palette of ’70s sounds with some Latin jazz flavours. Talking to NME, the band said: “The Clearing encapsulates that freeing feeling of finding a moment of peace and clarity, having survived the freewheeling frivolity of your 20s, emerging into your future and is a portrait of Wolf Alice standing on the precipice of a new decade in both life and art.”

You can pre-order the album here. The band will play a trio of intimate Irish shows next week before appearances at BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend and Glastonbury 2025.

Iconic British Band The Cure has released their new album, “Songs of a Lost World”, last Friday, and the record is currently expected to reach number one on UK charts. It would mark the band’s fourteenth record to reach the official chart’s top 10. A poignant testament to love and loss, “Songs of a Lost World” might be The Cure’s deepest album yet with dark and melancholic sounds and emotional lyrics that are certainly guaranteed to leave a mark on any listener.

Considered one of the most influential British Bands of all times, The Cure has had a successful career that has landed them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019: more than 30 million sales, four times headliners of Glastonbury and tours over tours. More recently, their tour “Shows of a Lost World”, has taken the British band around 33 countries with almost a million and a half tickets sold: even after almost fifty years from its creation, The Cure does not seem to stop.

After their extraordinary success with hits such as “Friday I’m in Love”, “Boys don’t Cry” and “Close to Me”, 13 top-ten charting albums and seven top-ten charting songs, The Cure have released what is perhaps their best album yet. Following the singles “Alone” and “A fragile Thing” released earlier this autumn, their newest album “Songs of a Lost World” is quickly topping charts, with thousands of Vinyl and CDs sold on amazon and sold-out shows.

“Songs of a Lost World” is the band’s first album in almost two decades. They had released their 13th studio album “4:13 Dream” in 2008 under Suretone Records, and in the sixteen years between this and the announcement of their upcoming record, they have released various collections, including a live album in 2019 recorded from Hyde Park. To celebrate the release of their new album, The Cure played two intimate shows dedicated to fans at the BBC Radio Theatre in London. The sets are now available on BBC iPlayer and the setlists include both songs from the latest album as well as iconic hits from the band. Furthermore, The Cure played the Troxy in London for a sold out show last week on the same day of the album and latest single’s, “All I Ever Am” were released.

Over the past few years while recording the album, The Cure has toured “Shows of a Lost World” all over the world, and they have plans for another tour taking place in 2025 and even for a sister album to “Songs of a Lost World”.

Now, The Cure hopes to tour more, release another record and celebrate their 50 years as one of England’s top rock bands. Watch their full performance at Troxy London here:

Robert Smith has revealed in an exclusive interview with Matt Everitt, available on their website, that the band’s next album is “virtually finished” and teased a documentary which could be released to celebrate The Cure’s 50th anniversary in 2028.
