South London-based Patrick Wolf has released his latest EP ‘Better or Worse’ shortly after his comeback album ‘Crying the Neck’, released last month. Blending folk music with baroque pop, Wolf creates music that sounds full and rich whilst still maintaining an intimate feel. Wolf takes inspiration from music around the world, with this latest release including elements of Irish folk and Spanish traditional music.

Patrick Wolf teased the release of his new EP on Instagram, playing a rendition of the title song ‘Better or Worse’ on the octave lyre. He also states in the Instagram post that he has had a five string electric viola made especially for his current tour, showcasing his creativity. Early in Wolf’s career, he made his own instruments whilst part of London’s underground art and music scenes. Wolf also studied French and lived in Malaga, Spain allowing him to speak both Spanish and French in his music.

His latest EP is a perfect example of this, the third track ‘Hymne Des Étrangers’ is a slow ballad sang in French while the 4th song ‘Mejora O Empeorar’ is a electronic-folk song sang in Spanish. On Instagram, Wolf wrote “I guess this a good time to tell you a “better or worse” e.p will be yours on Monday, with my first song I’ve written in the French language “Hymne Des Étrangers” and the Spanish language reworking and summer of 2025 re-production of Better or Worse called “Mejora O Empeorar””.

Patrick wolf released his debut album ‘Lycanthropy’ in 2004, first showcasing his unique blend of folk, electronica and baroque pop. In this album, he struggles with themes of isolation and addiction. These themes continue through his next releases, ‘Wind in the Wires’, released in 2005, through to ‘Lupercalia’, released in 2011. After the release of ‘Lupercalia’, Wolf took a long hiatus to focus on personal growth, sobriety and creativity. When he returned in 2023 with the ‘Night Safari EP’, it marked the beginning of a new chapter – one shaped by sobriety, reflection, and a deepening interest in language and cultural expression. ‘Better Or Worse’ continues that journey.

Wolf is currently touring his latest full-length album “Crying the Neck’ , fan honest and intimate album that includes highlights such as ‘Limbo’ featuring Zola Jesus, and ‘The Last of England’ a single Wolf calls “his national anthem”. Here is the music video to his latest single.

Patrick Wolf is playing a show at the beautiful open air Minack Theatre in Penzance, Cornwall on September 5 2025, where he will play his 2005 seminal album ‘Wind in the Wires’ to celebrate it’s 20 year anniversary, before heading over to the USA and Canada to begin his tour there.

Edinburgh based electronic music extraordinaire Eyes of Others has put out a new single today, “Once, Twice, Thrice“, as part of a series of releases in anticipation of the release of his debut self-titled album next month.

The track is the third part of a trilogy of songs and music videos that will be found on Eyes of Others, with the debut album scheduled to be released on May 19th. The first song and music video, “New Hair New Me“, was released on February 28th, while the second, “Big Companies Large Tentacles”, came out on March 27th.

Watch the music video for “Once, Twice, Thrice” below:

This will be the first chance Eyes of Others will have to showcase his astonishing talent and love of different music genres. These three teaser tracks alone incorporate a hugely diverse set of sounds that will undoubtedly leave his listeners mesmerised and blissfully dizzied. “New Hair New Me” brings with it elements of indie, psychedelic and folk rock, combining joyful and hopeful lyrics with an uplifting energy.

“Big Companies Large Tentacles“, conversely, contains a different kind of energy with its abstract lyrics accompanied by a gritty, darker, Suicide-esque dub/techno sound. The track suddenly transforms with vibrant electricity towards the end with a spray of energetic acid techno, before returning once more to base.

“Once, Twice, Thrice“, the album opener, returns to positivity with its upbeat loops, dreamy vocals, and sounds of a psychedelic nature lurking in the background.

The artist behind Eyes of Others is John Bryden, who has been using the moniker since 2017 and the release of his first track “I See You in the Shrubs“. Prior to this, he had been in various bands, toiling away without much success. He thus decided to pursue a solo career, seeing music, as stated by his bandcamp biography, as a vehicle of freedom and a “space for expressing yourself”, and the extent of this new-found musical freedom is extravagantly illustrated within his genre-breaking debut LP. He describes his music as “post-pub couldn’t get in the club music”, thereby effectively confirming his contentment with his place in the music world and the freedom said place allows him to enjoy.

Listen to “I See You in the Shrubs” below:

English synth-pop icon Gary Numan has announced an acoustic tour that will span the UK this October. The announcement was made public on Friday on Numan’s twitter page.

Something a little different (for me anyway) is coming. In October I’ll be playing an 8 date acoustic tour in the UK. Pre sale tickets will be available at 9am on April 19th. https://t.co/0LHwSIp985 pic.twitter.com/u07jPrDzn3

— Gary Numan (@numanofficial) April 14, 2023

Last night, a day after the tour announcement, Numan completed his 1000th show, completing a set of three nights at the Electric Ballroom, London, and is set to follow this colossal landmark event with a North American tour, starting on April 21st in Salt Lake City and concluding at Cruel World festival in Pasadena on May 20th. An appearance at Bearded Theory festival at the end of May will precede a break for the summer for Numan, which will then be followed by the acoustic tour in October, a tour which promises to be unique and wholly different for Numan’s devoted cult following, given his synth-pop and industrial rock background. The tour will commence on October 8th at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle and will end with two dates on October 16th and 17th at Hackney Church in London.

Gary Numan (real name Gary Webb) commenced his music career as frontman of new wave band Tubeway Army. The group released their self-titled debut album in 1978 but it wasn’t until the following year, upon the release of “Are Friends Electric?”, that Numan shot to prominence. The track, showcasing Numan’s adoration of synthesisers and science fiction (with its lyrical referencing of Philip K Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?), was released in May and found its way to the number one spot of the UK Singles chart in June.

Numan’s Tubeway Army performing hit single “Are Friends Electric?” on Top of the Pops in 1979:

Following his initial success Numan disbanded Tubeway Army and embarked on a solo career, employing a new backing band in the process. Later on in 1979 Numan’s second, and perhaps most famous hit, “Cars”, was released, soon also reaching number one, and was soon followed by the release of Numan’s first solo studio album, The Pleasure Principle, which too reached number one on the UK Albums chart. He went on to have a remarkably prolific decade, releasing nine albums in as many years, and has released a total on nineteen studio albums to date, with the latest, Intruder, being released in May 2021.

The pre-sale for tour tickets starts at 9am on April 19th and you can get yours here.

The Unum Festival is in partnership with Swallow Events who have made it possible for the concerts to be Covid-19 secured and Swallow Events will be the company to provide the rapid testing services for the event. The Unum Festival announces that they are certain that with this partnership they can “ensure everyone who enters is tested and virus-free before entering the event itself. We are taking all measures required to ensure safety measures are followed at all times and there will be zero tolerance on this matter.”

As the first to attempt this, The Unum Festival will be setting the stage quite literally for what the future of live in-person music will become and there have ensured their show-goers that it will be safe to purchase tickets today. Tickets are currently available here for early purchase. As this is a widely sought after event, the ticket prices have been boosted to nearly 140 euros for general admission.

‘Russian Doll’ is the first new music we’ve heard from Ulver since their live album ‘Done Activity’, released in 2019. The single has gained almost 1 million streams on Spotify, taking on a dark synth-pop sound – for Ulver, this is as pop as it gets. Lead singer Kristoffer Rygg said “Although this is pop music in our heads, the images and connotations in the lyrics are probably far away from what one usually associated with this genre”. This certainly comes through in the music video, released the same day as the song. It shows dancer Annija Raibekaze wearing an Ulver t-shirt from their 1995 black metal era.

Prior to ‘Drone Activity’, the band released their album ‘The Assassination of Julius Caesar’ in 2017, seeing 2020 as three years later and the perfect time for new studio album. In Ballade, a Norwegian magazine, it was announced that “Ulver is working on a new album, planned to be released in 2020″.

Ulver was founded in 1993, as a black metal band, with three core members (Kristoffer Rygg, Tore Ylwizaker, and Jørn H. Sværen) and six supporting members. The instrumentation is eclectic, including vocals, keyboards, drums, percussion, theremin, guitar, bass and programming, with many of the instruments doubling up to create a bigger sound.

They have 12 studio albums and many live and compilation albums, as well as EPs, currently signed to record label House of Mythology. Receiving two nominations for the Norwegian Grammy Awards and winning Album of the Year at the Oslo Awards, the band are hugely popular in Norway and around the world.

With nods towards 90s house and a glimpse into future electronica, Satellite is a feel good pop hit determined to keep spirits warm and dry following the recent drizzle that has hit the UK. The video features a dazzling ballet performance from rising star Annalise Gray, and was shot in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, a place very close to home for Little Boots, real name Victoria Hesketh, having been born and raised in Blackpool. The video was also co-directed by Hesketh herself, showing that she is much more than a pretty face with an astounding voice.

Satellite is the fifth single to be taken from Nocturnes, which was released in May earlier this year to positive reviews. She will embark on a string of shows in the US before returning to the UK for a headline show at Heavens in London on the 28th of November. It’s sure to be an electric night, with a constant buzz circling the club, so grab your tickets early to avoid disappointment. You can check out the video for Satellite below.
