Du Blonde, real name Beth Jeans Houghton has just released a new single from her upcoming album ‘Homecoming’ that is out on 2nd April. The new track ‘Pull The Plug’ is an opening song of her new LP, alongside two others singles released earlier this year: ‘I’m Glad That We Broke Up‘ with Ezra Furman and ‘Medicated’ with Shirley Manson’.

Musician shared the news on her social media saying: “This is the first track on the album and one of my faves. The juicy burp is just for you. It’s about being trapped by certain mental health issues and accepting that as part of your being, coming to terms with the fact this will inevitably affect your relationships and being ok with that in the knowledge that someone somewhere will eventually be ok with who you are”.

The Newcastle Upon Tyne born artist’s new album is 4th in her career after ‘Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose’ from 2012, ‘Welcome Back To Milk’ from 2015 and ‘Lung Bread for Daddy’ from 2019. The upcoming release is fully “engineered, produced and self released by Du Blonde. Written and recorded over several sessions between Los Angeles, London and Newcastle, ‘Homecoming’ is a no holds barred collection of Garage, Glam and hard rock finery, featuring a couple of tear-your-hair-out slow saddies for good measure”.

In the interview with Guitar World she said: “It’s been such an awful year. But for me, it’s probably been the biggest turning point. The restrictions of not being able to go to a studio forced me to do what I always wanted to do. It gave me the excuse because I was like, ‘Well, if it’s shit, I’ll tell everyone, it was my pandemic record”.

Du Blonde also commented on self – producing an album on Twitter: “I have to say self releasing this record has been the most fun. I’ve retained my rights, my dignity and for the first time in my career, recouped the costs of the album before it’s been released because I have control over my finances.” She added: “Anyone concerned about their experiences with labels but unsure about self releasing I highly recommend giving it a try. Understandingably working with labels comes with it’s merits for some, but it isn’t for everyone and there are other options. It’s hard work but it’s not hard”.

‘Homecoming’ is out on 2nd April on Du Blonde’s own label Daemon TV and available to preorder here.

Du Blonde and Ezra Furman have announced their new collaborative single I’m Glad That We Broke Up will be released this week on Wednesday, February 3rd. It is yet to be announced if this new track will feature on the upcoming Homecoming, which is Du Blonde’s third full-length album that is scheduled to be released this spring 2021 and is currently available for pre-order now.

Du Blonde announced the collaboration over social-media and described the single as being “about breaking up, regretting it and getting back together. It’s about realising that sometimes being in love doesn’t have to be all fireworks and excitement and that having someone you can fart next to is precious.” The track can be pre-saved via all streaming platforms here.

When describing the track’s sound, Du Blonde stated on social media that “it’s our take on a 60s girl group/glam rock explosion.” The Newcastle upon Tyne artist has been known for the punk-glamour genre that has featured in all of the previous records they have released. Ezra has been known for much the same in the States and when regarding their collaboration, Du Blonde continued with “I feel like Ezra and I have been travelling towards a duet for years and we finally got our shit together.”
