Diana Ross is an American singer, actress, and cultural icon who rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the legendary Motown group The Supremes in the 1960s. After leaving The Supremes in 1970, she launched a solo career that produced numerous chart-topping hits, such as ‘I’m Coming Out‘ and ‘Upside Down‘. Ross has a long history of successful tours in the UK, frequently selling out venues such as The O2 Arena in London and the Royal Albert Hall. The singer also received the Special Recognition Award at the BRIT Awards in 1994 and was named a Guinness World Record holder as the most successful female artist in music history. Ross also performed at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, further cementing her iconic status.

Diana Ross’s biggest hit on the UK Singles Chart is ‘I’m Still Waiting’. Released in 1971, the song reached No. 1, marking her first solo chart-topping single in the UK. It became one of her most beloved tracks, and its success helped solidify her place as a major solo artist after leaving The Supremes.

Ross’s ‘Symphonic Celebration’ is designed to offer a fresh and elegant take on her catalogue of hits, blending the soul and pop magic of her music with the emotional depth of orchestral arrangements. The announcement has already stirred excitement among fans, who can secure tickets through pre-sale starting January 30 at 10am, with general sales opening on January 31 at 10am. Ross’ highly anticipated appearance at the festival received more than a huge audience, the set has been heralded online and championed by various music publications. The Guardian provided a review of Ross’ set and described it as an “Explosion of Joy”, NME also sang Ross’ praises and referred to her set as “Euphoric”. The Legends slot at Glastonbury is largely reserved for highly influential artists and those with incredibly full back catalogues, both elements which Ross has acquired through her long career. The singer filled the set with her biggest hits such as “My Old Piano”, “Upside Down” and “I’m Coming Out” which quickly became the official theme for Glastonbury 2022. The former The Supremes bandmember also played hits from her time in the group including the hit “You Keep Me Hanging On”.

The singer balanced her set list with a collection of new material, audience members were treated to tracks off her newest album Thank You. The album was released in 2021 and marked the singer’s first studio album since the 2006 release I Love You, Thank You also signalled the singer’s first release of new material since 1999. Included in her set was the album’s title track and its second single “ If The World just Danced”.

The now infamous set also included the rousing anthem “Tomorrow”, during its performance Ross dedicated the song to the audience and her fans. The iconic artist expressed her gratitude to those in attendance and stated, “Everybody here and everybody watching on global television around the world, I want you to know I am so grateful for this life, so grateful to be here with you, I’m filled with thankfulness.”

This year’s Glastonbury also gave the BBC its highest recorded streams and views since the Broadcasting giant began to cover the festival, the statistics showed record-breaking figures for its Glastonbury coverage across its digital platforms. Since the festival was held in person in 2019, streams have soared over 15.8 million/116% via BBC iPlayer and 765,000/205% via BBC Sounds. The broadcasting company’s Glastonbury content was accessed via BBC Sounds over 2.3 million times and streamed via BBC iPlayer 34.1 million times, the high figure incorporates the 23 million streams of its live footage

Speaking on the record-breaking figures, Lora Clarke BBC Director of Music has provided the following statement, “The BBC provided the ultimate armchair experience of the world’s best-loved festival this weekend with a dedicated Glastonbury channel on BBC iPlayer, 6 Music’s All Day Glastonbury coverage, performances from the biggest artists on demand on BBC Sounds and over 35 hours of coverage across our TV channels.  The party isn’t over yet, with over 90 sets and key tracks from the five filmed stages available to watch on BBC iPlayer – including Pyramid Stage performances in Ultra High Definition.”

“ThankYou” included four singles, “Thank You”, “If the World Just Danced”, “All Is Well” and “I Still Believe”. Debut single “Thank you” peaked at number 38 on the UK Singles Sales Chart and number 37 on the UK Singles Download Chart. “If the World Just Danced” peaked at number 57 on the UK Singles Sales Chart and 56 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart. In a review on Pitchfork, the album “Thank You” was described as offering “a timely reminder of the vast pop smarts and emotional range that made Ross the diva’s diva. The title has a faint ring of finality; if, God forbid, this should prove to be Ms. Ross’ last studio album, then it would be a fitting tribute to one of the most formidable careers in American musical history.”

During the four-day bank holiday in June, there is set to be a royal celebration marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (70 years on the throne). The celebrations will include a live pop concert at Buckingham Palace in name of the 96 year-old Queen of England, as well as lots of festive parties on the UK (and global) streets – including a London carnival pageant and Jubilee feast. The Platinum concert is set to have three stages, and will host an in-person audience of 10,000 people. This is in addition to multiple 3D projections across the entirety of the palace.

The 79-year old Queen of Motown, will be headlining and closing the royal Platinum Party at the Palace on June 4th.  This will be Ross’s first UK show since 2007 on her “I Love You” Tour. The entire Jubilee celebration will be broadcasted live on BBC One on Saturday, June 4th.

Diana is also set to headline the legends stage ay Glastonbury on June 26th, Ross announced it saying, “I’m so excited and grateful to finally know, that I’ll be seeing you at Glastonbury while on my UK Thank U Tour celebrating my new album of songs.”

While the idea of a Parker/Ross crossover has been in the zeitgeist since late last year, the news stagnated pretty quickly. Parker was going to produce a track for Ross’ last album Thank You. In a quote from The Sun, an unknown source explained “She’s really excited to work with Tame Impala, and is ecstatic with the track,” concluding, “She can’t wait for fans to hear it.” As far as I’m aware, no credits were ever given to Parker on the album, so fans were left a little confused. But now, more than 6 months later, it seems we’ve got a whole project to chew on.

The scale of the headline collaborators would normally be enough to turn this project into something worth building some hype. No one was ever wondering if anyone else was involved with Silk Sonic, for instance. But if you take a little look at the poster… it just get better. First of all, produced by Jack Antonoff, then an extra mention to his band Bleachers, a bit of gnarly guitar playing from St. Vincent and Gary Clarke Jr (?), BROCKHAMPTON are coming back together – or maybe just a few of them – there’s even space for RZA.

Outside of new tunes, Tame Impala are currently in the midst of an extensive world tour. The tour takes the band through the US and Europe hitting most of the major festivals along the way, both weekends of Barcelona’s Primavera Sound and Budapest’s Sziget festival stand out as cracking line-ups. But if you don’t fancy a trip abroad, Tame Impala’s only confirmed UK date this year sees them play London’s Victoria Park at All Points East. Swedish fusion group Goat, South-London based post-punk outfit Dry Cleaning, and the fabulous Caroline Polachek will be joining them this August. McCartney is set to perform at the famous Pyramid Stage on Saturday 25th June 2022, where the former Beatle last took the stage eighteen years ago. McCartney made his previous Glastonbury appearance in 2004, performing alongside Muse, Oasis and James Brown. By this June, McCartney will be 80 years old and will be the oldest act to perform, and 20-year-old Eilish will be the youngest act to perform at the festival. Glastonbury organiser, Emily Eavis has spoken on McCartney’s upcoming performance, “When he finally confirmed, we were beyond [excited], For us, having Paul McCartney is obviously a dream, a huge moment in our history. It means the world getting Paul McCartney to Glastonbury.”  

Lamar is billed to headline the festival on Sunday 26th June 2022, and has also been confirmed to headline this year’s Rolling Loud Festival. The Miami event will also feature Kanye West and Future, other acts billed to perform include Three 6 Mafia, Saweetie and Soulja Boy. The Pulitzer Prize-winning artist recently made waves for his explosive performance at this year’s Super Bowl, also siring success at the 2022 Grammy Awards, receiving two nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his 2021 single “Family Ties“. The highly influential rapper has remained a regular at the esteemed ceremony, with Lamar having won thirteen Grammy awards during his career.

During the initial lineup announcement confirming the appearance of Eilish, more than eighty acts were verified to play the festival. Included within the line-up are Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, Megan The Stallion, Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds, Wolf Alice, Years and Years, Charli XCX, Crowded House, Celeste, Arlo Parks, Doja Cat, Haim, Pet Shop Boys, The Jesus And Mary Chain, TLC, Foals and Glass Animals. Many more bands and acts are set to be announced over the coming weeks, and an announcement confirming the full line up for the festival will be shared in May.

As well as being the youngest artist to take the Pyramid Stage, Eilish will also be the first female headlining act since 2016. The “Bad Guy” singer will perform on Friday 24th June 2022. The five-day event’s lineup showcases the festival’s dedication to gender equality, forty seven of the eighty-nine confirmed acts are all female-fronted. Ross is set to take the coveted Legends slot on Sunday 26th June 2022, the iconic singer confirmed her return to Worthy Farm in November last year. Ross took to Instagram to announce her triumphant return, the singer’s post also gave information concerning her UK Thank You tour.

Eavis spoke on the exciting news and stated that she was “thrilled” that Ross would be coming back to the iconic venue, “We were so excited to book such a legend for Glastonbury 2020 and are so happy that she’s the first to re-confirm for next year.” Michael and Emily Eavis, the father and daughter team in charge of the event have also disclosed that the festival will raise money for the Red Cross Ukraine appeal, alongside WaterAid, Oxfam and Greenpeace.

Diana Ross is an American singer, songwriter, actress and mother who rose to fame with the sixties group The Supremes. The group was deemed Motown’s most successful act in the 1960s and one of the best selling female groups of all time. The group are known for their memorable singles “Come See About Me”, “Baby Love” and “Stop! In The Name of Love”.

The singer embarked on her solo career in 1970 and also made a career in film, television and on the stage. The musician released popular singles “Upside Down”, “Endless Love”, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “Touch Me In The Morning”  and the UK number two smash hit “When You Tell Me That You Love Me” throughout her musical career.      

The singer shared a special bond with the late singer Michael Jackson who sadly passed away in 2009, the late singer wrote and produced Ross’s 1982 single “Muscles”  and they both starred in the movie The Wiz. The duo also released their hit single “Ease On Down The Road” from the movie.

The singer will appear at Glastonbury during her Thank You UK Tour, the title of the tour is taken from her first album release for 15 years, Thank You with her new record label UK’s Decca Records. Upon releasing the album Ross said “I dedicate this songbook of love to all of you, the listeners. As you hear my voice you hear my heart.” The singer was the first artist to be announced to appear at Glastonbury in October 2019 and is now the first artist to re-commit to the popular event. Glastonbury was postponed due to the Covid 19 Pandemic and the 50th Anniversary Celebrations were also cancelled due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Glastonbury’s Co-Producer Emily Evans expressed her delight in respect to Ross appearing on the Pyramid Stage in this tweet.

Ross will be joining artists Dolly Parton, Kylie, Barry Gibb, Lionel Ritchie and Stormzy who have also graced the pyramid stage. In view of her upcoming Glastonbury appearance, Ross said “I’m so excited and grateful to finally know that I’ll be seeing you at Glastonbury” The singer has recently released her single “I Still Believe” on November 3rd and also teased her video for the single “All Is Well” both from her Thank You album.

Following her 15-year music hiatus, Ross’s followers will receive a musical treat with the Motown legend’s performances during her Thank You UK Tour and her legendary performance at Glastonbury in 2022.

Co-founder and director of the festival Peter Taylor commented, “Live music and entertainment is part of the beating heart of the UK and we plan to make Lytham Festival bigger and better than ever before for 2021.” After the event was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19 concerns, so both organisers, artists and fans are looking forward to its return.

Snow Patrol posted about the event, saying “Lytham Festival we’re coming back! We’ll be seeing you on Friday 2nd July 2021 as part of a HUGE line up!” The band recently released a collaborative EP written during lockdown with fans via Instagram Live, under the name Snow Patrol and the Saturday Songwriters. Next year, the band will finally be able to perform ‘The Fireside Sessions’ live and the fans can hear their songs.

Five-day tickets are available now, with individual day tickets arriving this Friday, 30th October. There will even be a ticket option to relax in what has been named The Lounge. Buyers will be reserved a private area for up to 12 people on a raised platform for viewing, with dedicated event staff, and premium food options. The Eden Project, which hosts the concert series in Cornwall, was due to welcome some of music’s biggest names including My Chemical Romance, Lionel Richie, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Script, and Diana Ross. The summer event was supposed to take place between June 17th and July 21st 2020.

The organisers of the Eden Sessions have today (April 17) confirmed that their summer schedule of shows will not take place this year due to the current coronavirus crisis. Taking to Instagram to announce the news organisers said: “Organisers have been closely assessing the impacts of the global coronavirus pandemic and decided that to ensure the safety and wellbeing of concert-goers, artists, crews, Eden Sessions staff and supporting teams, the Sessions could not go ahead this year,” a statement from the Eden Sessions, which you can read in full below, explains.”

The continued, “[We are] working hard to reschedule the artists booked for 2020 to play next year. When shows are rescheduled and dates confirmed, the Eden Project will contact all existing ticketholders with details. The news will come as a double blow to fans as My Chemical Romance was due to have their first UK comeback show at the summer series, but due to the coronavirus crisis it has now been postponed. My Chemical Romance had been due to make their UK live comeback with the Eden Sessions gig on June 16 2020. As it stands, the band’s sold-out Stadium MK residency in Milton Keynes, between June 18 and 21, is still going ahead.

Also going ahead as planned is their show at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, in Dublin, on June 23. My Chemical Romance have already been forced to postpone their planned tour dates in Asia, Australia and New Zealand due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The ‘Lover’ singer, following much speculation, took to Twitter on December 15 to confirm the rumours by announcing that she will be headlining the Pyramid Stage, on Sunday June 28 2020. Taking to Twitter, Swift, said: “I’m ecstatic to tell you that I’ll be headlining Glastonbury on its 50th anniversary – See you there!” Swift wrote. She also shared an image of herself holding the Glastonbury Free Press announcement, which reads: “Sunday night Taylor made for Glastonbury!”

Meanwhile, Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis shared a video, in which he announced Swift as the second headliner. Taking to social media, Michael Eavis, said: “I’m so pleased to announce Taylor Swift will be headlining the Sunday at Glastonbury 2020. She’s one of the biggest stars in the world and her songs are absolutely amazing. We’re so delighted.”

Swift, who performed on this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing final, will join the previously announced headliners Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. Speaking about the announcement, Emily Eavis, said: “Taylor is one of the biggest and best artists on the planet, and we’re just so pleased that she’s coming here to Worthy Farm to join us for our 50th birthday celebrations.”

Paul McCartney was the first headliner to be confirmed to play at Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary, in November. The 50th anniversary performance will mark McCartney’s first appearance at the festival since 2004. Speaking about McCartney’s headline slot, Emily, said: “It’s amazing having him back. It’s the ultimate way to celebrate.”

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Diana Ross will be tackling the coveted “legends slot”, on Sunday afternoon. Earlier this month, Aerosmith announced that they would be heading to Glastonbury, next year as part of their European 2020 tour. However, the Friday headliner has still to be announced and currently American rapper, Kendrick Lamar is heading up bookies odds for the  slot.

Meanwhile, Swift is taking a new approach to touring, next year. After 2018’s ambitious, 53-date ‘Reputation’ stadium tour, which played to 2.8m fans and took £259.3m at the box office, Swift is taking her new album, ‘Lover’, to festivals around the world. The star, who celebrated her 30th birthday this week with a Christmas-themed party, will play one further date in the UK next summer, at London’s BST festival, in Hyde Park.

Speaking about her live performances, Swift, said: “The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, and summer. I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and play festivals,” Swift said as she took to social media to discuss her new way of touring.

Emily Eavis, Glastonbury organiser, confirmed the news of November 18 2019 by taking to social media to say: “IT’S REAL!! So excited.. Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary.”

The news comes just hours after the Beatles icon seemingly confirmed that he will headline the festival next year, after sharing a cryptic clue on his Twitter account. McCartney has now also confirmed the news, writing: “Hey Glasto – excited to be part of your Anniversary celebrations. See ya next summer!” McCartney apparently confirmed the news a few days before the official announcement by sharing an image of American composer Philip Glass, actress Emma Stone and rock legend Chuck Berry. When the surnames of all three are combined, the not-so-subtle clue of ‘Glass-Stone-Bury’ is provided.

In April, Eavis’ father, festival founder Michael Eavis, admitted to a BBC reporter that had the star in his sights saying: “Hopefully for the 50th. Don’t make a big thing of it though, will you?”

Speaking to Zoe Ball, on BBC Radio 2, McCartney said: “My kids are saying, ‘Dad, we’ve got to talk about Glastonbury’, and I think I know what they mean. We played there quite a long time ago so maybe it is time to go back. I don’t know. I’d have to put a few things in place.

“So they go every year, like a lot of people these days, and it is a great festival and we played there quite a long time ago so, maybe it is time to go back, I don’t know, I’d have to put a few things in place and try and do that but it’s starting to become some sort of remote possibility.”

McCartney last took to the Pyramid Stage, in 2004, and his appearance came after a day of heavy rain that left fans soaked through. He played through the horrible British weather to give fans a two-and-a-half hour performance of greatest hits including Wings classic Jet and racing through 22 Beatles songs, including Helter Skelter, Back In The USSR and Yesterday.

The Beatles star is the first headliner to be confirmed for Glastonbury 2020, but his confirmation comes after Diana Ross was announced to play the Sunday afternoon “legends slot”. Meanwhile there has been a lot of speculation about who else will be headlining, with the likes of Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, The 1975 and Foals among the names.

Fleetwood Mac, who have also long been linked with the festival, also prompted speculation that they would be heading to Somerset next year when Mick Fleetwood told fans at Wembley Stadium they still “had a big field to play”.

But speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival last month, Emily Eavis ruled the band out after negotiations apparently stalled over money. “I can’t afford them at the moment,” Michael told fans in June. “But they said the other day that they really want to do it and if they don’t do it before they die they’ll go to hell.”
