Deadmau5 is further due to play at Creamfields 2020 in August. He will be headlining alongside Calvin Harris and the reformed Swedish House Mafia. The event includes what they call “the world’s biggest electronic festival line-up”.

Undoubtedly, it’s going to be a big year for electronic dance music. Creamfields runs from August 22-25, held at the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire. Zimmerman is scheduled for Friday, (August 23), with Harris on the night after, and to conclude proceedings, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso, (Swedish House Mafia), on August 25.

It can’t get much better than that. But it does. Fatboy Slim, Martin Garrix, Shy FX, Headhunterz, Duke Damont and Benny Benassi are among those also billed to hit the stage.

Deadmau5’s last studio album, ‘W:/2016Album/’, was released back in 2016. Two years later, he released an orchestral compilation album, ‘Where’s The Drop?’. Last year, he scored the Netflix film Polar.

Last year, Deadmau5 was banned from Twitch for homophobic language. He criticized the video game streaming platform for what he deemed “double standards”. While playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Zimmerman called another player a f****t. The player had killed him during the game, which led to the remark.

He since clarified that he does not blame Twitch for banning him. On Reddit, he said: “I know what the fuck I said and why I said it and in what contextual universe it belonged in,”

“I just don’t agree with their policy on who gets to decide whats freedom of expression and whats blatant extreme right wing crazy shit that’s actually harmful. Coz whats the difference I guess.”

Deadmau5 has just been announced as Creamfields first Friday headliner along with Swedish House Mafia who will headline on the Sunday. The electronic and dance music festival will be held once again at the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire from August 22nd till the 25th. Tickets for Creamfields will go on sale on Friday 14th December (still at 2018 prices) and you can purchase them here.

Swedish House Mafia, who reformed earlier this year, have been announced as the festivals first Sunday headliner. The Swedish house music group consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso formed way back in 2008 and then went their separate ways in 2013. However, now that they are back together they will certainly be one not to miss at Creamfields this year.

Speaking about their return Swedish House Mafia said: ‘The UK truly is our second home, whether it be at our very first Creamfields – or our last Milton Keynes Bowl, we want to bring it back to the festival. We’ve missed you guys and we can’t wait for festival season! See you at Creamfields.’

Deadmau5 will headline Friday night at Creamfields, he is a Canadian electronic music producer, DJ and musician. Deadmau5 produces a different variety of house styles within the progressive house genre and sometimes other forms of electronic music. First appearing at Creamfields back in 2008, he has since then been a regular at the festival and is always a fan favourite. In his shows he always uses a strong visual element which provides an extra hit to the senses on top of his exquisite performance. Until Friday Barclaycard customers can get 10% back on every presale ticket that is purchased.

More acts are yet to be announced, but can be expected in the coming weeks and months. The festival which has been running for the past 20 years now, attracts more than 70,000 people per day and has seen the biggest names in the electronic dance and music scene. The likes of Tiesto, The Chainsmokers, Sigma and Annie Mac have all performed at the festival in the last few years and these headliners are going to be just as good.

Creamfields will return to Daresbury, Cheshire on Thursday 22 August until Sunday 25th August 2019. With huge acts such as Deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia set to headline this will be sure to be an unforgettable show. General tickets will be on sale from Friday the 14th December at 9am and you can purchase them here.

DJ’ing kingpin Deadmau5 has called out The Chainsmokers on Twitter, after the duo released their debut album Memories… Do Not Open on April 7.

Easy. You suck a shitload of Grammy dick and pay a ghost producer. Next question. https://t.co/x8336Kbeas

The most notable part about the DJ/Producer’s tweet, was the direct accusation that they use a ghost producer on their work, as well as saying that the duo ‘suck a shitload of Grammy dick’. Deadmau5 was tweeting in response to the New York Times, who issued a promoted Tweet, which featured the paper’s pop music editor, alongside other American journalists, discussing the topic ‘How do you solve a problem like The Chainsmokers?’, which is linked in the tweet above.

The Chainsmokers themselves took to Twitter shortly after Deadmau5 showed his disdain for the duo, although there is some ambiguity about whether or not their tweets are in direct response to his criticism.

Learning so much everyday! Really feeling lucky to be in the position we are. We catch lots of heat but we … https://t.co/pjApzv5Cn2

And that's all that matters. Not everyone is gonna get it or like it but a lot of you guys do and that's what pushes us ❤️

The Canadian DJ has something of a history for starting Twitter beefs, engaging in virtual, verbal warfare, with everyone from Skrillex, to Madonna, to Afrojack, leaving behind a legacy of hilarious tweets and responses through the years.

Possibly the funniest came last year, when Deadmau5 himself was actually defeated by Kanye West, who well and truly silenced the DJ, after he accused the Chicago rapper of using pirated software. Kanye responded in spectacular fashion, and showed the world that Deadmau5 (or dead-mow-five) can sometimes bite off more than he can chew when vocalising on Twitter.

Zane Lowe’s Apple Music radio station Beats1 has helped Apple Music take off since its inception in June last year, with the service currently holding over 11 million subscribers and defying initial doubts regarding how the service would fare when competing with rival music streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer.

It was recently confirmed that Canadian music producer and DJ Deadmau5 is the latest musician to have been given a slot hosting his own radio show on Beats1, alongside other esteemed figures in the world of music such as Elton John, Dr Dre, Charli XCX, Haim and Skrillex who currently host their own shows on the station.

HERE WE GO.@deadmau5 is coming to #Beats1.
Catch mau5trap presents…
Friday at 3PM PT/6PM ET. pic.twitter.com/lE1WAoKyDn

— Beats 1 (@Beats1) March 14, 2016

Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, is an influential and established artist on the electronic and EDM scene, and is also well-known for his distinctive visual branding – performing wearing a mask based upon Deadmau5’s logo “mau5head” and featuring the image on the majority of his album artworks.

The news of a radio show may alleviate some of the negative press towards Deadmau5 following his numerous online rants and clashes with other musicians last year, most notably with Justin Bieber in the firing line. Deadmau5 has since apologised for this behaviour and opened up about his struggles with mental illness, as well as promising fans via a post on his Tumblr blog in December of last year that he would be back in the studio soon, that he would continue making music and that he would keep being himself:

Like many other human beings, I’ve been dealing with some depression issues that I don’t need to go into detail with. I’d consider myself far from emotionally stable, though not unstable enough to know support when I see it. […] I’d like to apologize to my fans and supporters for f**king off so abruptly, and leaving them out of the loop in terms of developments in my career and some small glimpses into my personal life […] I’ll slow things down until the new year, and chill out with friends and loved ones on vacation till the 17th or so. Then it’s back into the new studio, where I’ll just keep being me, and making music.

Deadmau5’s show “Mau5trap Presents” will air for the first time on Friday March 18th at 10pm in the UK.
