The feature list is impressive; featuring Offset, Wretch 32, M Huncho, Central Cee, Tion Wayne, and AJ Tracey, among others. While it is certainly impressive to feature two of Drill’s biggest artists (Tion Wayne and Central Cee), the greatest feat is having Offset from Migos on their feature list. Broadening international appeal is a goal for artists in Drill, with Headie One featuring with Drake last year on ‘Only You Freestyle’. While massive UK artists like Skepta have found themselves featuring on American tracks, having American artist feature on UK tracks is indictive of a changing tide; UK music is ammassing greater prestige and recognition across the pond.

D-Block Europe have had an active 2021. They made headlines earlier in the year when Aitch made a suprise visit on stage with DBE during Parklife, as well as dropping a new single in the summer, ‘Lake 29′. The track, a celebration of DBE member Young Adz’s 26th birthday, was their first single after their debut LP released last October, The Blue Print – Us vs. Them. The project had a similarly impressive feature list, with Aitch and Stefflon Don contributing verses. The album peaked at No.2 in the charts, and with the upcoming project having a more impressive feature list, it is likely The Blue Print‘s success will be matched if not superseded.

Alongside the announcement of Home Alone 2, they simultaneously dropped a new single, ‘No Competition’, complete with a music video. At the time of writing, the video has amassed a quarter of a million views within 20 hours. The track, two minutes in length, serves as a little teaser for their highly anticipated new album. Young adz posted the information on his Instagram with the instructions; “Send an email with pics of ur car and info who you are from lamb truck to tuner cars include your ig etc in email come and pull up on the gang and show ur cars off. DBECARMEET@GMAIL.COM”.

The pair, known for their eccentric and lavish lifestyles invited all their fans no matter their car, stating in the caption “From lamb truck to turner cars”.

DBE last released a project in 2020, in the form of their debut album The blueprint – us vs. them which debuted at number 2 in the official charts and stayed in the charts for 43 weeks.

Whether it is their music output or the lifestyles they convey to their fans, D-Block Europe is a group that takes a lot of influence from the American trap music culture, taking inspiration from the likes of Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne. Before their hiatus, the duo had released 4 projects in the space of 2 years which included a total of 102 songs, with all the projects managing top 10 entries into the charts.

The south Londoners have released two singles in 2021 titled “Lake 29” and “Kevin Mccaliseter”, which were released in June and July. The singles both came very close to a top 40 Lake 29 gained 40th but “Kevin Mccalister” missed out debuting at 42nd.

With the return of live shows, the duo has already performed on the mainstages of the biggest festivals this summer including a 49,000 capacity Wireless festival and 80,000 capacity at Manchester Park life. The pair will begin their rescheduled UK arena tour at the end of November. 

The 7 stop tour will be for their debut album The Blueprint: Us vs Them and will stop at some of the biggest arenas in the country including the London 02 on the 2nd of December as well as 6 other arenas in Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Bournemouth, Nottingham and Glasgow. D-Block Europe car meet is yet to be given an official date but all information can be found on the artists Instagram pages and the at the email DBECARMEET@GMAIL.COM.

D- Block Europe is a duo formed by Young Adz and Dirtbike LB. The pair from Lewisham, South London are childhood friends who were announced as D-block Europe by Jadakiss in 2013 when the pair were only 16 and 17 years of age.

The single is their first in 2021 having made three features on songs with Yxng bane, Ghost Killer track and Franglish.

The new single announcement was posted on Young adz Instagram with the caption “DBE szn new music out now”.

Since the release of their debut album ‘The blueprint – Us vs them’ in 2020 the duo have gone very quiet with their only appearances being on features and on a daily duppy that Young adz did for GRM daily, taking it back to his old rapping style without autotune.

DBE are the biggest UK act for the trap/ wave sound and had adopted the US trap model with their output prior to their hiatus, US trap acts tend to release a high quantity of projects and singles. Some of the biggest artists such as Gucci mane who has released 100 projects in his career, and Lil Wayne who has released over 30 projects are examples of this model of output in the trap music scene.

 The south London duo released 5 projects in the space of 2 years which contained over 100 songs, including their debut album ‘The blueprint – us vs them’, which charted 2nd on the official charts behind Headie one’s chart-topping project ‘Edna’, and featured 29 songs.  

Lil Pino features on the song, having always been the unofficial third member of DBE the 19-year-old can always be spotted in the background of freestyles or music videos that D-block Europe release. In Febuary 2020 he kick-started his own career releasing ‘Mya Mills’ which currently sits on just under 10 million Spotify streams. The young rapper is believed to have recently been released from prison as in June 2020 the duo Dirtbike LB and Young Adz released a track titled ‘Free 22’ a name the rapper better known as Lil Pino also goes by.
