After a career full of commercial success the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2011, the band made headlines last month when they confirmed their reformation. To further cement their return, the group released their comeback single “Charmer”, the track dropped on 19th May 2022 via record label Xploded and marks their first single release in eleven years. The trio’s last single “Morning Star” was released in 2011, the track dropped via digital platforms shortly after the announcement of their hiatus. The band’s new single “Charmer” was written by the group, Junior Edwards and the track’s producer Rymez, after its premiere on BBC Radio 1Xtra the new song was then made available across all major streaming platforms.

Formed in London’s musical mecca Camden Town, the group first rose to fame with the release of their second studio album Against All Odds. The album was released on 16th November 2009 via record label All Around the World and reached number 6 on the UK album charts. Within the same year, the group won Best UK act at the renowned MOBO Awards, two years prior N-Dubz won the MOBO award for Best UK Newcomer. The band’s popularity increased after they collaborated with British rapper Tinchy Stryder, the group appeared as a featured artist on the chart-topping single “Number 1”.

“Charmer” has already enjoyed great commercial success and has secured a spot within the official top 40 UK single charts, the new track is currently sitting at number 32. Since the news of their reformation the trio consisting of bandmembers Tulisa, Dappy and Frazer have enjoyed a resurgence of interest in their back catalogue. The group’s compilation release, Greatest Hits, has placed within this week’s Official UK album charts top 100. Released in 2011 via Universal and Island Records, the album has placed at number 76 on the UK album charts.

If you ever find yourself thinking back on the noughties, captured with a nostalgic glow of cheesy music videos and pop-tunes soon to be made fodder for the meme culture of today, you might find yourself wondering how it ever got away from us. Luckily for you though, it seems some parts of the past have managed to keep relevant to today. As we’ve seen with groups such as Spice Girls, another favourite group from the past are now taking their chances in the 2020s.

Hip hop group N-Dubz, made of Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer, were making their hits throughout the 2006-2011 period, with songs like “Playing With Fire” and “I Need You” amounting to tens of millions of views on YouTube. Despite having been apart for over ten years (splitting back in 2011) they officially announced a special reunion yesterday on Instagram.

The post features a video of the band landing from a helicopter before a black screen announces their upcoming single for this Thursday (titled “Charmer“), as well as a UK arena tour set for November.

The new single was written by the group, and produced by Rymez (known for working with artists such as D Block Europe, Stefflon Don and Adekunle Gold). BBC 1 Xtra will have the privilege of premiering the song on Thursday, so you can stay in tune for that via this link.

As for the live shows, it’s been called their Back to the Future Tour, dates for which you can see at the end down below.
The news has certainly made the fans happy, with one reportedly saying “This is the best day of my life“. According to a source for The Sun, “Fans have been calling for this for years but timing has never been right. Finally all Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer are all onboard and the music they have recorded is genuinely some of their best yet”.

As for the tour, that’s “going to be massive. They have seen all the success other groups have enjoyed coming back and want a piece of the action”.

Dappy has been announced today as the winner of Best Male Artist of 2020 on the Domin8 Entertainment rosta. According to the company, who are based in London, ‘from features to freestyles, it’s safe to say everything he’s touched has turned to gold,’ they congratulate him on 2018’s hit ‘Oh My ft. Ay Em,’ ‘hitting platinum.’ Fans have a lot to look forward to in 2021, Domin8 assure us, with the long awaited follow up to 2012’s ‘Bad Intentions,’ due with the ‘Intro,’ leaked December 3rd just in time for the new year.

Since rising to fame with N-Dubz who came to the public’s attention with the release of 2008’s ‘Uncle B,’ Dappy has pursued a prolific solo career which includes dozens of single releases throughout the last decade as well as a debut album release with 2012’s ‘Bad Intentions.’ Many fans of Hip-Hop today will be mourning the loss of MF Doom, an American producer who helped pioneer the format which Dappy uses for his own albums, the Beat Tape approach which always includes an Intro track and multiple Skits throughout.

2020 has been a good year for UK Rap, with Aitch and AJ Tracy’s ‘Rain,’ clocking over 39 minion views on Youtube since its release in March and the genre promises to continue to rise in popularity in 2021. This is promising news for Dappy who is preparing the ground for a follow up tape to 2012’s ‘Bad Intentions,’ and will likely benefit from the renewed appetite for UK rap which is occurring at the moment.

The lyrics for ‘Intro,’ which was released in advance of Dappy’s follow up album next year earlier this month, are largely autobiographical and shed some light on the rapper’s background. The track tells the story of Dappy’s humble upbringing and he talks about ‘dotting pebbles up in Margate,’ in reference to his mother’s difficult financial situation which meant the family could only holiday at the British seaside and would often be ‘dodging bailiffs.’

As well as his own track, Dappy has also been very busy collaborating with other artist this year featuring on singles with the likes of Term & Rvchet, Tom Zanetti, Swarmz, 23 Unofficial and many more. There has been no shortage of Dappy’s presence on the record this year and he’s certainly well to get his name out of there while building up a buzz for his own work to land next year.

As well as releasing his hotly anticipated new record, Dappy also has tour dates scheduled for the summer of 2021 which fans will be desperately looking forward to especially now that the year’s early months are likely to be spent in a state of near lockdown until the vaccine can be rolled out and live music return. Full UK dates are as follows:

18/05/2021 – SWG3 – Glasgow
19/05 – Leadmill – Sheffield
20/05 – Newcastle University – Newcastle
22/05 – Stylus – Leeds
23/05 – O2 Institute – Birmingham
24/05 – Nottingham Trent Students Union – Nottingham
26/05 – O2 Ritz – Manchester
27/05 – O2 Academy – Liverpool
28/05 – Old Fire Station – Bournemouth

The Godfather of grime recruits Tory Lanes, Dappy and Kranium for his new single ‘My One.’ This comes after a string of U.K features from the Canadian rapper Tory Lanez this summer including ones with Dappy and Nafe Smallz. The single serves as a follow up to his big tune ‘Boasty’ featuring Stefflon Don, Sean Paul and Idris Elba, which peaked at #11 on the U.K Singles Chart.

Wiley has embraced a new sound recently, teasing various tracks through his Instagram account and we expect to see a new project from the East London native soon. This track is no different; the upbeat dance instrumental allows the Godfather to come with that summer heat, with Tory Lanez, Dappy and Kranium supplying their melodic vocals for this club banger.

At first glance, the visuals look to be shot somewhere abroad with the vegetation, scenery and architecture having an exotic feel. However, it’s filmed on the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate in North West London and depicts the essence of a British summer where everything looks less grey. Four dancers in brightly coloured tracksuits set the pace for this buoyant track, providing endless positive energy in the form of dance.

Wiley set a milestone for British music last year when he was honoured an MBE for his services in music, the recognition he deserves for pioneering the genre of this generation. Speaking on his achievement Wiley said, “This could open up doors for me in terms of going back to teach, to help, because I don’t care about myself anymore, I care about others.”

You can watch the video to ‘My One’ below.

The Plug Records have released the fifth single from their upcoming collaborative project entitled Plug Talk. The 13-track album will be available from July 5th and features a star-studded lineup from Europe and America.

The ‘Not Today’ producer, Noah’s use of mellow strings and flutes allows the two melodic rappers to demonstrate both their singing and raw rap abilities. Dappy leads the chorus and expresses his discontentment and motivation to acquire more than he has. In his first verse he speaks on his past criminal activities and struggles of life before fame “I was just a young offender, tryna turn a tenner to a hundred thou’ boy.”

It seems Canadian rapper, Tory Lanez had been busy on his trip to London for Drake’s Assassination Vacation Tour back in April. Collaborating with Nafe Smallz for his single ‘Good Love’ and making a special appearance at ImJustBait’s Easter party. He has now joined forces with U.K veteran Dappy, dropping a hard-hitting verse on his lavish lifestyle and taste in expensive cars. Directed by The Plug Records on behalf of GRM Daily, the video shows Dappy cruising in the passenger’s side of a classic BMW. A scene pictures Dappy residing at The Plug’s headquarters, viewing an old TV which displays Tory Lanez performing his verse. Being the only scene to show Tory Lanez, it seems as the video had been recorded on two separate occasions. However, The Plug Records still managed to create an epic video in the absence on the Canadian.
