D Double E has joined influencer Nella Rose to feature in a festive ad campaign from Twix, debuting a Christmas grime track – the first ever “Twixmas” anthem.

Over a beat from prolific DJ and producer Sir Spyro, the grime legend drops some humorous bars about winding down over the holiday period, rapping “lets chill and order takeaway, nah not leaving the sofa today, got my headphones on under the duvet”, starring beside Nella Rose in the video, sprinkling some of his classic adlibs into the short song.

The tune is set to launch on TikTok on December 27, playing throughout the “Twixmas” period, the days between Christmas and New Year. The campaign will see other influencers such as singer Wes Nelson and Diversity dancers Sam Craske and Star Kiely appearing in “Glowing Up, Dressing Down” videos, showing how they relax during Twixmas time.

Lauren Godfrey, Mars Wrigley portfolio and media lead, said in a press statement: “We’re excited to partner with D Double E and Nella Rose to create a campaign that resonates with consumers during this unique post-Christmas period and will encourage everyone to embrace and share their simple joys at this time of year.”

Both D Double and Spyro have recently collaborated with Red Stripe to celebrate the launch of their new rum-based cocktail drink, Rum Stripe. Honouring the brands Jamaican heritage and musical ties, the beer brand hosted a show at an intimate corner shop in Old Street. In a tribute to soundsystem culture and its Jamaican roots, they enlisted a lineup featuring D Double, Spyro and Tiffany Calver to deliver some high-energy sets of dance and grime music.

The Twixmas campaign isn’t the first time the Newham MC has starred in advertising. D Double was the genre’s first artist to venture into musical marketing when he appeared in an IKEA Christmas ad. Voicing animated household items, he pulls some witty diss bars for the family’s front room, like “This table’s older than the pyramids, at least its younger than the mirror is” and “It’s like somebody hit it with a bulldozer, if your house was a car it would get pulled over”.

And he’s not the only one – last year, grime veteran and comedian Big Narstie appeared in an ad campaign for US company Slimfast, making a short music video titled “Oomph For Your Boomph” featuring a heavy trap beat and bars about the classic shakes vitamins, minerals, and fitness benefits.

The “Street Figher Riddim” MC has gathered a MOBO nomination for the 2025 awards, in the running for “Best Grime Act” alongside other classic names such as Chip, Scorcher, and Manga St Hilaire. The “Best Male Act” and “Album Of The Year” categories also feature grime icons Bashy and Ghetts, going head to head in a pairing that should remind any old-school fans of their infamous rooftop clash from back when battling was frequent for the scene’s big names.
‘Tell Me A Ting‘ does not waste time. The single launches straight into a cacophony of pulse-quickening heavy base and drums. D Double wastes no time in asserting his characteristic flow and delivery all over the instrumental. It is clear that, from within the first thirty seconds of the single, ‘Tell Me A Ting‘ is a grime classic.

There is scarcely time to breathe in between the end of D Double E’s first verse and Kano’s introduction. It is the first time that Kano has released, or featured, on a track since his 2019 album ‘Hoodies All Summer‘. However, despite his hiatus, it is clear that he has not lost any of the skill that propelled him to the top of the grime scene. Kano uses his verse to remind the doubters of his undeniable talent.

D Double E and Kano released a visual alongside the single. The clip matches the singles intensity. It pictures the two artists in a dark surrounding, quad-bikes spin a cars cough smoke as they punch their respective verses.

‘Tell Me A Ting‘ witnesses the deadly combination of two grime scene legends. The result is an emphatic track, which displays the genre’s energy, and the two artist’s lyrical talent.

Frisco, D Double E and Ghetts dropped a collaboration named ‘Colours’, on Friday the 24th of July. The single displays a vintage Grime sound, and is available to stream on all platforms.

Production duo Splurgeboys create the instrumental that underpins ‘Colours‘. A creeping pipe sound slithers over a classic, stripped-back, Grime beat. It provides a blank canvas for the emcee’s to flex their lyrical talent. The trident of artists provide separate, unique, dimensions to the track. Frisco’s flow meanders with the beat to indulge a melodic opening, whereas Ghetts contributes his characteristic punchy word-play to add a splash of flair. Finally, D Double E’s sickly tone echoes through the track’s final stages. He reverberates over a bridge and verse, casting a shadowy presence that sticks with the listener.

Publicity over the new release has been limited. Out of the artists involved, only Frisco released a teaser on social media. The lack of press indicates the artist’s skill and magnitude. Confidence in their abilities and outreach means that they do not need promotion in order for fans to listen. Early reviews indicate that Ghetts, Frisco and D Double E made the correct assumption. GRM Daily labelled the track ‘hard‘ and a ‘steady, head-popping tune‘.

The collaboration is memorable due to the artists involved. D Double E is one of Grime’s founding fathers. He is one half of the legendary Grime group, The Newham Generals. His distinctive Ad-Libs and flow have filled Grime raves for 20 years, and inspired many of today’s artists. Ghetts and Frisco occupy similar iconic status within the UK Grime scene. Ghetts is one of the most prolific emcees around, whilst Frisco is a key figure within the iconic BBK record label. Therefore the trident of talent represents a significant combination of individuals within the genre.

‘Colours‘ is a triumphant combination of Grime’s biggest names A raw, uncut, instrumental provides the artists with a background on which they are able to demonstrate their talent. The result is a single which bubbles, threatens and excites in a way that is unique to the music genre. The release will be a pleasant surprise for fans, given its lack of publicity. ‘Colours’ is a diverse listening experience which demonstrates the abilities of Ghetts, D Double E and Frisco.
