Liverpudlian rock band Crawlers have revealed an intimate set of UK shows for their upcoming debut album ‘The Mess We Seem To Make‘. After going viral on TikTok for their song ‘Come Over (Again)‘ in late 2021, the quartet have since signed with Polydor Records, entered the UK Top 100, opened for My Chemical Romance and toured around the globe for their ever-growing fanbase.

Cementing themselves as next-gen alternative artists, the Merseyside four-piece (vocalist Holly Minto, guitarist Amy Woodall, bassist Liv Kettle and drummer Harry Breen) announced the series of shows on Instagram in November 2023, commenting: “We are doing an extremely intimate show crawl to celebrate ‘The Mess We Seem To Make’ out Feb 16th. We will be performing an acoustic set where you will be the first to hear the album’s songs…we will also be having a meet & greet with you all where we will sign your exclusive prints. All ages are welcome crawlies !!”

Kicking things off in Edinburgh, the first show will take place on February 6, with the band then travelling for subsequent performances in Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Nottingham, London and Brighton. Tickets for the ‘indie store crawl’ are available here.

Final celebrations for the album launch will be taking place in their hometown of Liverpool at Jacaranda Baltic on February 21, followed by a show at Pryzm in Kingston in collaboration with Banquet Records on February 22. Each venue will present the opportunity for a meet and greet, album signings and exclusive merchandise available for pre-order.

Much to their fans’ delight, the individual member cassette tapes on sale will also feature eco-friendly packaging, a ‘fun fact deck’ and ‘band info package’ exclusive to each version, as well as signed art cards personally hand-illustrated by their vocalist Holly.

If that’s not enough for you, Crawlers will be going full steam ahead as they hit the road again throughout February and March to support Canadian indie rock band Mother Mother on their hotly-anticipated UK tour.

‘The Mess We Seem To Make‘ is set to be released on February 16 and will feature 12 tracks, including ‘Would You Come To My Funeral‘, and their latest single ‘Kills Me To Be Kind‘, which now has its own official visualiser. The loop of retro-style clips adopt an intriguing new aesthetic of garage-band-meets-candle-lit-vigil. Set in a crumbling, ornate townhouse, the four northerners ooze charisma and style in what appears to be the prelude to an actual music video. Watch below:

UK Indie band Crawlers have announced a new single “Messiah”. The single is the second release the band have announced this year, following “That Time of Year Always” in March.

MESSIAH IS OUT NOW — thank u everyone who helped with this and we hope it helps u crazy bitches too , COMMENT A IF U LOVE THE TRACK !!!https://t.co/2lZiu8wqlY pic.twitter.com/Lr15sY0KtY

— CRAWLERS (@CrawlersHQ) June 6, 2023

Lead vocalist Holly Minto explained that the song deals with placing one’s sadness on their sleeve for the sake of creating art. The song embraces more of a grungier sound and further reveals the possible direction the band will take when they finally release a full length album.

Hailing from Liverpool, the band has been creating significant waves in recent months, with first single “That Time of Year Always” providing an anthemic vibe to tease what the quartet are capable of. In many ways, Crawlers represent the newest trends in music, blasting onto the scene when their single, “Come Over (Again),” went viral on Tik Tok in 2021.

This breakout song provided huge dividends as the band went from viral sensation to opening act for My Chemical Romance when the emo legends appeared at the Reading and Leeds festivals last year. Realising that the sky is the limit for Crawlers, the band embarked on a tour of the US. Shortly thereafter, Polydor Records took notice and signed the group in which they released an EP Loud Without Noise-to instant success.

All of this attention for the band has set fans craving a full album and Crawlers promise this is on the way. Minto, speaking about the possibility of an album and what direction it could take said, “when we eventually do our debut album, its going to have a concept… I think right now we’ve got a bit more of a direction with our sound, and we just want to share with our fans this music that we’ve made that’s so different.”

It is perhaps this mashup of influences and sonic ideas that make Crawlers so palatable to so many listeners. It is certainly a sentiment shared and supported by the band with guitarist Amy Woodall explaining, “at the start [of our career], we did pretty much sit down and say, ‘okay, here’s all our influences and here are the crossover bands we all like-let’s just see what happens.” Describing their EP release as more of a randomised mix-tape then coherent track listing of songs, the music has definitely struck the right chords with fans on both sides of the Atlantic.

Crawlers have timed the release of “Messiah” to coincide with a headlining show in London tomorrow, 8 June, before heading out in support of YUNGBLUD at Eden Project. The band will also make a few appearances during the summer festival circuit, including Download and Glastonbury. Tickets can be found here.

Glastonbury Left Field, who describe themselves as the “purveyors of pop and politics at Glastonbury since 2002“, have officially announced their lineup for the 2023 edition of the festival.

They announced the lineup on Instagram, as shown below. Organiser Billy Bragg, a known musician and activist, captioned the poster of the lineup with this:

“As the shape of the post-pandemic world begins to form, it’s clear that people are more willing to stand up and be counted. Workers are striking, agitators are mobilising, and the fight for truth and justice is becoming ever more urgent. At Left Field, we’re responding to this clamour by bringing you voices from the front line of the struggle in debate and performance. Whether it’s radical perspectives or great music you want, stand up and be counted at Left Field.“

On Friday the 23rd, there are four artists lined up to perform. First up are post-punk outfit Deadletter, hailing from Yorkshire. Drawing on influences such as The Pogues and Tom Tom Club, the band are bringing a heavier essence to the Left Field after completing their Spring Agenda tour. Cassyette, a nu-metal singer-songwriter, is playing following the release of her newest single “Boom“, followed by Teesside punk band Benefits. Finally for the night, is one of the organisers himself, Billy Bragg.

Saturday features five acts, including two big up and coming names, Crawlers and Hastings band Kid Kapichi. It is both bands’ debut Glastonbury festival shows. Crawlers posted the announcement on their Instagram page below, saying “someone pinch me!!! see you at Glastofest.”

Crawlers recently released their single “That time of year always” via Polydor records, and it has garnered over 200,000 streams on Spotify. They are playing alongside Big Joanie, Delilah Bon, and rapper Dreya Mac.

For the last day, Tom A Smith, who was handpicked by Elton John to support him for his Hyde Park show is starting off the night. Afterwards, Will Varley and Lime Garden are playing sets. Lime Garden posted on Instagram, shown below, saying “We are unbelievably excited to say we are PLAYING GLASTO BABY!!!!!!! Catch us @glastoleftfield on Sunday…CANNOT wait to meet slash.”

Finishing off the event completely, is Cavetown. He is an English singer-songwriter who has had massive hits with “Devil Town”, “Juliet”, “Boys Will Be Bugs“, and “This Is Home“. These four songs alone have garnered over a billion streams on Spotify, and Glastonbury is just one of many festivals that Cavetown is scheduled to perform at this summer.

The political event, whose slogan is “Charge Your Activism“, not only has twenty-two artists and bands scheduled to perform, but also features six crucial, political debates across the weekend. This is a key part of the Left Field, which was first designed to tackle apathy, and to promote left-wing politics and trade unionism in young festival goers.

Michael Eavis originally started the Left Field Tent, in 2002. He explains on the website: “The Worker’s Beer Company and myself started the Left Field Tent, following our tradition of campaigning for CND and helping the miners who were totally destroyed by Maggie in the eighties.”

He continued: “And before that there was the huge surge of interest in the Green movement’s efforts to clean up our country when the eco warriors arrived here in all their glory in the seventies. Fortunately for us all, Billy and Juliet have now picked up the baton. Their passion and integrity is what’s needed to run the Left Field Tent to fight for a change and give our poorer people just half a chance to live decent, happy and worthwhile lives.”

Glastonbury takes place at Worthy Farm, Somerset, between the 21st and 25th June. Left Field will be Friday to Sunday, between the 23rd and 25th. Tickets are sold out.

Information on the full line up can be accessed here.

Alternative rock band Crawlers have released their latest single “That Time Of Year Always”.

The song, released via Polydor Records, has already garnered over 50,000 streams on Spotify. It is the Liverpudlian band’s first release since their mixtape Loud Without Noise, which came out in November and debuted at number one on the UK rock and metal album charts.

Lead vocalist and trumpet player Holly Minto, who runs the bands social media accounts, discussed the new release on Twitter, saying “really whole heart into this from all of us. lyrically really allude to my neurodivergent struggles and my struggles with mental health.”

wow i’m getting kinda nervous <\3 for this song release. really whole heart into this from all of us. lyrically really allude to my neurodivergent struggles and my struggles with mental health. i don’t want to fully analyse these lyrics like normal, i want this song to be yours

She also debated the meaning behind the song. As reported here, she said “‘That Time Of Year Always’ encompasses the feeling of envying your younger self before the trauma hits in your early 20s. It’s about missing the ignorance that you had in your childhood; that reflection process which usually happens for me during the winter seasons. Being older, you realize that despite thinking these thoughts stem from seasonal depression, it’s normal to feel that longing for your youth all year round, and to constantly have your younger self in mind when reminiscing about what once was.” The release is accompanied by a lyric video, which features a nostalgic video of the band walking on a windy beach alongside the lyrics.

The band, who are very interactive with their fans on social media, even asked for everyone’s favourite lyric from the song on Twitter. This incited many passionate responses from their fans who have been waiting for a new release. One response said:

“there’s comfort in the sadness and the mess i seem to make” AND OFC “asking strangers for their star signs”

The song went viral on TikTok, and its use became particularly popular on videos concerning mental health, domestic abuse, and addiction. The song was used in over 90,000 video responses, and has over forty million streams on Spotify. After the release of their debut album, the band supported My Chemical Romance on tour last year, performed their own sold-out headline tour across Europe and the UK in November, and are set to perform at Download Festival this summer.
