Corey Taylor Announces Solo Tour Of The UK And Europe In November

Famed Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has announced a UK and European run of tour dates this autumn, in support of his new solo album CMF2. The tour announcement has coincided with a new single dropped by the singer, “Post Traumatic Blues.”

Fresh off of Slipknot’s highly successful run of headlining UK and European festival performances, including June’s Download Festival, Corey Taylor has put all of his fans, this side of the Atlantic, on high alert as tickets for his solo project are about to go on sale. Taylor will kick off the tour in Leeds and finish in Tilburg throughout the month of November.

Alongside the news, Taylor has also released new song “Post Traumatic Blues”- an attempt by the singer to describe, through his art, what dealing with PTSD is like. Of the new track, Taylor said the song is “my attempt to describe for people what it’s like to deal with PTSD. Sometimes it’s hard for people to understand the ups and downs, the severity of the cold and numbness, that I wanted to try and build a bridge lyrically between the ones living with the disease and the ones who are trying to help them.”

Corey Taylor was last in the UK, performing as a solo artist last October playing the London Palladium to kick start his tour in support of his debut album CMFT. The show was a ringing success for the musician-proving the singer has the personality and talent to shine outside of his two gargantuan bands Slipknot and Stone Sour.

With only material spanning one record, Taylor pulled out more than a few surprises last time out, playing the “Spongebob Squarepants Theme Song” (which has now taken on almost legendary status), songs from Stone Sour and even a few Slipknot hits. UK and Europe fans can expect similar excitement when his new tour gets underway.

A performer that exudes confidence with a seemingly innate ability to entertain, Taylor will undoubtedly represent a huge draw for UK and European crowds in November. The charismatic frontman has never shied away from letting his love affair with the UK be known either. He has often claimed that it was the country where Slipknot first took off-UK fans being the first to really interact positively with what the metal band from Iowa, USA were doing.

It is in this way that a Corey Taylor UK and Europe tour announcement represents a celebration of sorts and the charming singer/songwriter will definitely not want to disappoint his adoring crowd on this side of the pond. Nandi Bushell Releases Riotous Video Covering Slipknot’s ‘Unsainted’

Percussion prodigy Nandi Bushell has released a wild drum cover of Slipknot’s ‘Unsainted’. The video was released on Boxing Day (26^th December), just months after Bushell released her debut original track ‘Gods and Unicorns.’

In the description of the video, the young artist expressed her passion for music, and the heavy metal genre in particular. ‘Yes! I am a total metal head! I love how awesome the drumming is in Slipknot!’ the artist wrote in her bio. ‘This is my first attempt at double pedals! Taking my playing to the next level. This song brings my A game Corey Taylor.”

The 10-year old rising star first captured the limelight after uploading a cover on Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom’ earlier this year. The video quickly went viral, and caught the attention of the band’s drummer Dave Grohl, who praised Bushell publicly. The two soon collaborated, with the two taking part in various drum battles, and promising to collaborate after meeting for the first time.

Meanwhile, Slipknot have hinted at a possible album release next year, to follow up their 2019 release ‘We Are Not Your Kind’. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, with Corey Taylor stating that ‘…we all kind of feel like there’s unfinished business, and we wanna finish that out before we do anything.’

Slipknot are undoubtedly up there with the metal greats with a long career spanning over two decades, five acclaimed studio albums and a Grammy behind them, well known for their signature thrashing style and somewhat macabre appearance on stage. Vocalist Corey Taylor, also known as the lead singer and founder of rock band Stone Sour, is held in high esteem by fans of both Slipknot and Stone Sour.

After touring the UK with Slipknot in February, Taylor has announced a surprise one-off headline show at London’s KOKO in Camden on 8th May. Quoted by Kerrang, Taylor said of the show:

Everyone’s been asking me when I was going to come back to the UK and do some acoustic stuff – honestly, it’s not because I didn’t want to! So since I’m going to be there doing some stuff in May, I decided we’d make one happen! And I cannot wait!

This will be a rare opportunity to see the iconic vocalist stripped bare, performing acoustically and free of any of the masks he has become acquainted with. Concerns grew amongst fans when Taylor admitted several months ago that he was thinking of taking a step back from Slipknot, however rumours that he planned to leave the band were swiftly quelled by Taylor himself, and firmly laid to rest upon the announcement that Slipknot will be embarking on a joint US tour with Marilyn Manson later this summer.

Slipknot to Reconvene Next Year

In a recent interview with Fuse, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor discussed recent theft of equipment, the new Slipknot album and much more.

Taylor is reported to have told police a suspected friend stole roughly £24, 000 worth of musical equipment from his home in West Des Moines while he was on tour in Europe, although some of the equipment was later recovered from a guitar store. He headlined Download Festival with Slipknot last month, as well as playing in Belgium, Denmark and Sweden.

He also revealed in the interview about Slipknot’s plans to reconvene by next year.

Musician and author Corey Taylor, frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour, has announced that he may publish his third book, a collection of his columns written for UK rock magazine Rock Sound.

One of metals most iconic and diverse vocalists, Taylor began his literary career in 2011 with ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good’, a semi-autobiographical, stream-of-consciousness style work in which Taylor outlined his thoughts on the each of the titular sins. The book, though receiving mixed reviews, charted on the New York Times Bestseller list.

Taylors next work was a four-part comic book series, published by Dark House Comics, which depicted the story covered by the two part Stone Sour concept album, ‘House of Gold and Bones’. Taylor has expressed hope that the story will see a feature film adaptation.

On July 16th, Taylors second non-fiction work, ‘A Funny Thing Happen on the Way to Heaven (Or, How I Made Peace With The Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots and Cynics in the Process)’ was published by Da Capo Press. The book recounts Taylors experience with the supernatural and the paranormal throughout his life.

While discussing the possible release of his column collection, Taylor also stated that he was considering an idea for a novel.

2014 will see Taylor return to the studio to record the long awaited fifth Slipknot album, the first since 2008’s, ‘All Hope is Gone’, and the first studio album in the absence of late bassist Paul Gray.
