The band started this global tour back in March 2022, and last year it became the highest-grossing rock tour of all time.

Coldplay have only one show left of their record-breaking 10-night residency at London’s Wembley Stadium, which will take place September 12. These dates follow two stadium shows in Hull last month.

During their show at Wembley Stadium September 6, Chris Martin revealed that there will be more shows to come on the tour. “This tour has 138 more shows to go,” he told the crowd.

“We have a break coming up, and we’ll announce the shows for 2027 soon. But we only have two more this year, and then we’re gonna go and make this really special thing that we’ve been making for years and years, and it’s really good. But shush!.”

The “really special” project Chris hinted at is potentially the first Coldplay’s final two albums.

When speaking with NME following the release of their 10th album ‘Moon Music’, Chris stated that the plan for the band’s catalogue is to end after 12 albums.

“Yes, it is 12 albums for sure, but we’re going to be a bit later than [2025],” he explained. This lines up with the group’s return to the road in 2027, and suggests that their next LP could arrive that year or in 2026.

He went on to say: “Our last single is on this album [‘Moon Music’], and that’s called ‘All My Love’. That’s the last ‘single’ single. We have the musical thing, then an album just called ‘Coldplay’, which is the final one. I think that will be a year late – I know it will be.”

For Coldplay’s dates this year, ten per cent of their proceeds are being donated to the Music Venue Trust in order to help support grassroots venues.

Coldplay also had to reschedule two of their dates at Wembley Stadium due to the tube strikes.

On a statement on their website, they said it was “impossible” to get fans to and from Wembley Stadium without London Underground.

Coldplay said that instead of cancelling the shows altogether, they moved the September 7 show to September 6, and the September 8 show to September 12.

Coldplay will still play ten nights at Wembley Stadium, breaking the joint record set by Take That and Taylor Swift, despite these dates changing.

The ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour is already the most-attended concert in history, according to Guinness World Records, with over 10 million tickets already sold.

The stage, positioned next to the main arena, is part of the MVT’s effort to give grassroots acts exposure at some of the UK’s biggest shows. Coldplay, who brought their ‘Music of the Spheres’ world tour to Wembley earlier this month, have partnered with the organisation throughout their 10-date residency at the stadium. Ten per cent of ticket proceeds from the run are being donated directly to the MVT, which supports small venues across the country.

Speaking about the experience, vocalist and guitarist Issy Cartlidge highlighted the shared importance of grassroots venues to both emerging artists and global stars. She said from the stage: “Whether it’s Coldplay or The Molotovs, one thing almost all bands have in common is that they developed their craft, and their audience, playing at grassroots venues up and down the country,” she said.

“While Coldplay started out at the likes of the Falcon and the Bull & Gate, we played the likes of The Half Moon, The 100 Club and Spice of Life – where we still host a weekly music night, Incendiary, with some of London’s best young guitar bands. Another thing we have in common is that we are music fans, and without these venues we wouldn’t get to see amazing artists in action.”

Formed by siblings Matthew and Issy Cartlidge, The Molotovs have established themselves as one of the UK’s hardest-working young bands, playing more than 600 shows despite still being in their teens. Their reputation has earned them high-profile support slots, most recently opening for the Sex Pistols. They will join the punk icons once again on their upcoming North American tour, beginning September 16 at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, Texas.

Coldplay’s partnership with the MVT comes amid growing concern over the future of small venues. The organisation has warned that one grassroots space is closing every two weeks, describing the situation as a potential “collapse of touring” for emerging artists. For years, the MVT has campaigned for a mandatory £1 levy on arena and stadium tickets to be reinvested in the grassroots sector, a move it argues is essential to sustain the pipeline of talent that feeds into the wider music industry.

By spotlighting acts like The Molotovs at Wembley, the collaboration highlights the vital role smaller stages continue to play in shaping the next generation of headliners.

This help comes after the Music Venue Trust have been campaigning for a £1 levy on every ticket sold to a concert at arenas and stadiums to go back into grassroots. The grassroots music industry helps emerging artists as well as employing more than 28,000 people.

In an interview with NME, Chris Martin shared his thoughts on how the band were very lucky to “grow up in a place where there was a lot of opportunity for unknown people to become known or to get experience.”, highlighting the importance of wanting to help grassroots venues to give emerging artists and opportunity to get experience.

Mark Davyd, CEO of MVT, praised Coldplay for their initiative. He described them as “the perfect example of a UK band who came through the grassroots circuit on their way to worldwide stadium-filling success.” He also said that they are “recognising the artists and promoters that are struggling more than ever to build their own careers.” by going beyond the £1 levy and helping the grassroots venues that helped them in their journey to selling out stadiums.

In 2023, 125 grassroots venues permanently closed, which represents the loss of 4,000 jobs, over 14,000 events, and over 190,000 opportunities for emerging musicians to perform, so the support from this will help stop grassroots venues closing which will allow more people to access live music.

Coldplay are known for supporting initiatives with their shows running on renewable energy as well. Their shows on this tour are a world first when it comes to stadium shows as they use solar, wind, and kinetic energy to power the shows. In addition, a satellite stage is used at each show which is powered by members of the audience dancing on kinetic flooring and using power bikes.

In support of Coldplays’ 10th album ‘Moon Music‘, the band kicked off their run of 12 stadium shows last night in Hull.

However, when one particular couple appeared on the screen, their reaction immediately raised eyebrows. Rather than lean in for a kiss, the woman turned away and buried her face in her hands, while the man visibly ducked down, attempting to conceal himself.

The awkwardness was so striking that it caught the attention of frontman Chris Martin mid-set. “Oh what?” Martin said from the stage. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.” After a pause, he added: “Holy shit. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

The mystery couple were quickly identified online as Andy Byron, CEO of the software development startup Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Head of Human Resources. Social media users and tech industry observers were quick to draw attention to the uncomfortable interaction and speculate on its implications. Byron, who is married, soon found himself at the centre of a rapidly escalating controversy.

 Within days, the viral incident had professional consequences. On July 20, Astronomer announced Byron’s resignation in a statement shared to LinkedIn: “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted.”

The company, which specializes in data orchestration and workflow automation, was founded in 2018 and has grown rapidly within the software and cloud technology space. Byron had served as CEO since 2022 and was previously the company’s President and CRO.

Yesterday, on July 25, it was confirmed that Kristin Cabot had also stepped down from her leadership role at the company. While Astronomer did not release an individual statement about her departure, internal sources confirmed to multiple outlets that her resignation was accepted shortly after Byron’s.

In the days following the viral moment, clips of the concert exchange – including Chris Martin’s reaction – have been viewed millions of times across TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. Memes and commentary have flooded social media, ranging from humorous takes to pointed critiques of workplace power dynamics.

The Music of the Spheres World Tour, the band’s eighth major tour, supports their ninth and tenth studio albums: ‘Music of the Spheres’ (2021) and ‘Moon Music’ (2024). The Bay Area performances marked the 195th show of the ongoing global tour, which is set to conclude in London this autumn with a total of 225 performances.

Stanford Stadium – previously known for hosting major sporting events like the 1984 Olympics, the 1994 Men’s World Cup, the 1999 Women’s World Cup, and Super Bowl XIX – was transformed into a spectacle of sound, lights, and emotion. Over 50,000 fans filled the iconic venue, experiencing a powerful fusion of music and production.

Supporting acts for the North American leg included Palestinian-Chilean artist Elyanna, who energized the crowd with her Arabic-infused pop, and American rock and R&B singer Willow, whose set captivated early arrivals and set the tone for the evening.

Coldplay’s two-hour performance was structured into four thematic segments: Planets, Moons, Stars, and Home. The setlist featured new tracks from ‘Moon Music’ alongside fan favourites spanning their entire discography. Fireworks lit up the night sky, while globe-shaped balloons floated above the audience, adding to the immersive experience.

The show opened with the explosive ‘Higher Power’, launching confetti and fireworks as the band dove into a mix of celebration and emotion. Classic hits like ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Paradise’,  and ‘The Scientist’ followed, drawing the crowd deeper into Coldplay’s universe. The finale, ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove’ from ‘Moon Music’, was accompanied by hovering planet visuals, emphasizing the album’s celestial themes.

A highlight of the night came when frontman Chris Martin invited two fans to join him onstage during ‘Magic’. The stripped-back performance brought a moment of poignant stillness, showcasing the emotional core that defines Coldplay’s enduring appeal.

True to form, Coldplay also emphasized their commitment to sustainability. The band’s green initiatives were seamlessly integrated into the show, with solar-powered staging, biodegradable confetti, compostable LED wristbands, and a kinetic dance floor that converted audience movement into electricity. The band recently announced that this tour has generated 59% less CO₂ than their 2017 stadium tour, a testament to their ongoing environmental efforts.

Chris took took to Instagram to share with his fans the different ways he tries to keep his spirits up. In the video, take after their Honk Kong show, the artist said: “Hi, this is Chris from the band Coldplay. We’re in Hong Kong… “I’ve noticed a few people recently, including myself, struggling a bit with depression so I was going to tell you some things that have been helping me on tour and in general in hopes that maybe some of them might be good for you too.”

“The first thing I wanted to tell you was that there is a thing called freeform writing where you write for twelve minutes, all your thoughts, and then you burn it or throw it away. That’s very good. Transcendental meditation has been really wonderful for me… There’s a thing called Proprioception which is like body movement to help balance your brain. There is a man called Jim Costello, who did the Costello Method that’s very helpful – especially for young people with ADHD or autism.”

The 48-year-old then holds up a book called The Oxygen Advantage which he says is “great for breathing” and also shares how Chloe Quesha’s music makes him very happy”.

The imagery of a lots of people, searching for meaning in a massive world, reflects the song’s core message about feeling lost yet hopeful in the presence of someone you love. Throughout the video, the idea of reaching for something greater, whether it’s love, understanding, or a sense of belonging, is reinforced through celestial symbolism and the breathtaking landscapes used. Coldplay has often explored existential themes, and this visual interpretation of ‘Man in the Moon’ continues that tradition, reminding viewers of the beauty in searching, dreaming, and finding your own place and people in the world. 

‘Man in the Moon’ is featured on the ‘Full Moon Edition’ of Coldplay’s tenth studio album, ‘Moon Music’, which was released on October 4, 2024. This edition includes the original album plus ten additional tracks, collectively known as ‘Blue Moons,’ The song blends atmospheric instrumentals with emotive lyrics, inviting listeners into a contemplative space that explores themes of pure love and wonder, presented in the lyrics, “When you call out my name, that’s how I know we cry the same tears”. The music video builds on these themes, combining expansive, cinematic visuals with a sense of personal reflection. 

The release of ‘Man in the Moon’ is just the beginning of what promises to be a major year for Coldplay. On February 8, the band will perform at the opening ceremony of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games in Vancouver, joining a lineup that includes artists like Katy Perry. Following this, Coldplay will embark on their ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’, with performances scheduled in Hong Kong in April and a highly anticipated series of UK dates in August. The UK shows include a six-day run at London’s Wembley Stadium and two dates at Craven Park in Hull, making them the band’s only European performances in 2025.

Coldplay’s release of the ‘Man in the Moon’ music video adds a visually rich layer to their latest musical offering, while their upcoming performances reflect a continued dedication to delivering memorable experiences for their global audience. The video itself reinforces the band’s long-standing ability to merge music with powerful, cinematic visuals, keeping their music as impactful as ever.

The frontman said, “This is our fourth visit to India, and the second time to play. First time we played a long show and we could not have asked for a better audience. Thank you for coming today everybody!”

He continued: “Thank you for welcoming us even though we are from Great Britain. Thanks for forgiving us for all of the bad things Great Britain has done.”

The concert was attended by around 75,000 people, the band’s first in India since their appearance at Global Citizen Festival in 2016. Crowd members captured the moment and uploaded it to social media.

Fans have been divided by his apologetic statement – some have praised his gesture, with one user jokingly writing “Chris healing intergenerational trauma with a mic, stage and some tunes”. Others were less enthusiastic, dismissing his comments as “virtue signalling”. Some fans had a problem with his willingness to speak on behalf of another continent, with more than one user asking, “Who says India forgave Britain?”

The British government colonised India, ruling over from 1858 until 1947, during a period known as The British Raj. The legacy of this colonization is a dark one – while the Brits profited heavily from their rule, India were subject to poverty, famine and social division.

Scholars have claimed that prior to colonialism, Indian living standards may have been “on a par with the developing parts of Western Europe”, and that India’s economic inequality can be traced back to colonial times. The Brits also used the pre-existing caste system to separate people into a social hierarchy and limit the power of most citizens.

It’s been argued that unemployment, famine, poor sanitary conditions, lack of access to education and healthcare, caste-based oppression, religious violence and gender-based violence are all a part of the legacy of colonialism. To this day, Britain has never apologised for colonizing India.

The sales for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour have been successful, with every scheduled stop selling out. But Indian fans were left disappointed while buying tickets, when the official ticketing site experienced technical issues after going live.

Once the sale ended, tickets for the show were price gouged on other sites, with their costs being bumped up from Rs 4,500 (£40.55) to Rs 384,625 (£3,466). Scammers also took advantage of the situation, offering tickets as part of a lucky draw for people who shared their post.

The band have also announced their Indian concert in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will be streamed live on January 26. It will be available to viewers across the country on Disney+ Hotstar and will include exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the band.

The pop-rock giants are also set to launch an immersive installation to accompany their 2024 album, ‘Moon Music’. Dalziel, 22, admitted 11 copyright offences at Luton Crown Court, including three counts of acquiring and possessing criminal property and one count of transferring criminal property.

It was reported that Dalziel’s actions came to light when Sony Music Entertainment discovered a cloud account owned by American singer-songwriter Upsahl had been compromised, allegedly by Dalziel, and was consequently reported to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in June 2021.

According to the police, roughly 40 unreleased tracks were extracted from the account and sold illegally online.

A hacker who stole unreleased music from artists including Coldplay and sold it online, has been sentenced to 21 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months.

Detective Constable Daryl Fryatt, from the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit noted: “Stealing copyrighted material for your own financial gain is illegal. It jeopardises the work of artists and the livelihoods of the people who work with them to create and release music”.

Dalziel was arrested by police on January 9, 2023, where officers seized three drives with an estimated 291,941of unreleased music tracks contained on them.

It was also reported that the police located a spreadsheet curated by Dalziel, which showed the tracks she had sold to customers, along with her PayPal and bank accounts that had received £42,049 from the stolen goods, between April 2021 and January 2023.

The City of London Police have also revealed that some of Dalziel’s profits were allegedly sent to bank accounts owned by individuals in the United States. The institution warned it was collaboratively working with Homeland Security Investigations to unveil the owners of these bank accounts.

The Prosecutor Richard Partridge from Luton Crown Court, stated: Dalziel “selfishly used their music to make money for herself by selling it on the dark web”.

Skylar Dalziel’s guilty plea meant she was sentenced to 21 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, alongside 180 hours of unpaid work.

Detective Constable Fryatt continued to provide hindsight to the sentencing and the online culture of leaked tracks, stating: “[it] sends a clear message that we have the ability and tools to locate cyber criminals and hold them to account for their actions”.
