The band’s vocalist, Jess Eastwood, stated of the new track ’Everybody Hates Me’ isn’t a metaphor for anything; it’s literally about those times when you convince yourself that everyone, including your best friends don’t actually like you and your self-confidence is so low that you don’t even blame them.”

The track combines the all too relatable message – especially during lockdown periods which was when this song was curated – with an indie-bop beat that dares anyone not to dance and sing along with the infectious chorus, ‘Everybody hates me! / I’m boring and unhappy / I really like affection / I’m jealous and controlling’. The drums drive forward throughout the 2 and a half minute banger, with a full bass line. Eastwood sings ‘I wish I had your face and your f***ing personality’ before breaking in to the catchy yet sad chorus, showing the bands ability to provide honest lyrics camouflaged behind a pure bop!

The track came with a music video that encapsulates the sung about insecurities. Eastwood stated “The video is a direct extension of the song. It swings between the insecurities of feeling like you’re not good enough amongst your friends, and the sense of unity you get from those same people when you finally wake up from your rut. Everyone feels that way from time to time, but you gotta remember that sometimes your irrational self is going to take over. And when it does, try to remember that you’re awesome, and your friends really are your friends.”

The band have caught the attention of critics despite the pandemics restrictions being placed on Dorks’ Hype List ’21. With the bands own member, Guy Page, producing and mixing the tracks, Coach Party are definitely one to watch when live music gets back underway!

It is not long after the 17-year-old musical prodigy just launched a new era with “Happiness in Liquid Form“, a new disco-pop track that helps us throughout this difficult time. Yesterday (April 27), he shared a follow-up to the lead single with the next song dubbed “My Best Friend“.

The track is a complete opposite of the lead because of its much darker mood and ominous lyrics about our own saboteur. “My best friend is a killer in disguise. She’ll show you things you’ve never seen. You won’t believe your eyes. My best friend has a lot to say ‘bout you,” sings Templeman

About the track, the “Don’t Go Wasting Time” singer told DIY, “It’s about depression and sadness being the only thing that’s always there for you, as if it’s the only thing that really sticks around and lurks behind everything you do.” He adds, “It’s as if these feelings are the closest thing to you, like your best friend.”

Jess Eastwood from Coach Party is invited to join force for the track. She says, “I instantly related to Alfie’s lyrics and the meaning behind it.” Eastwood further insists that the track is a “cool” take on dealing with sadness: “Let’s be real, we all get sad, it never does leave permanently, so making a song about it and taking a different look on it is a really cool move, not to mention it’s a shit hot tune. I feel incredibly lucky to feature on it as Alfie will defo have a legends slot at glasto in 30 years.”

Templeman’s girlfriend, Sitara, is also credited for a background vocal, which adds up such mysterious and sinister tone of the song. Have a listen below.

Apart from sharing a new track, the “Used to Love” rising star also took this chance to announce the release of his fourth EP. Titling it ‘Happiness in Liquid Form‘, the singer revealed the EP cover and its six-song tracklist on his social media and scheduled to release it on July 15. The forthcoming EP is also now up for pre-order and pre-save on preferred service, alongside the pre-order for a vinyl.
