The trio were not short of original material to drop into the set with hit tunes like ‘I Miss You,’ featuring vocals from Julia Michaels making an appearance amongst a blend of dance beats and classic samples. As well as their own hits, the trio laced together a gripping setlist of club classics to get their fans dancing. The set was streamed from Clean Bandit’s studio in North London and featured an expensive looking selection of musical equipment from synths, to drum pads, to sampling machines.

Towards the end of the set the trio performed a live cover of a song by SOPHIE in tribute to the Scottish pop idol who sadly died last week in a terrible accident. This was unusual for a Clean Bandit house party set, which usually attempts to recreate the vibe and atmosphere of a real house party by blending to gather a stream of classic tunes to get everybody dancing. However, it was fitting that the trio did pay tribute to SOPHIE whose death last week as a totally unexpected shock to the music industry and a very sad way to begin 2021.

The visuals throughout the livestream were also very impressive, with psychedelic patterns and video footage swirling projected on the walls around the band as they performed their set. The trio also had an impressive range of camera equipment and a hi-tech screen which allowed them to show the audience a variety of angles blended with the projected images and added camera effects for a truly immersive experience. It has to be handed to Clean Bandit that they have certainly managed to raise the spirits of their fans during this difficult third lockdown in Britain especially and have made great use of technology to recreate the vibe and excitement of a real life live experience.

It is of course never going to be possible to completely recreate the experience of real life using digital technology and its place is better serving as a supplement to real world events where people can socialise in the most natural way possible. That being said, considering the difficult circumstances it must be admitted that people have adapted well to using technology to overcome their external difficulties. With the possibility of health passports signalling a return to live music, there is some optimism about the possibility of being about to get out and party with our friends once more at some point this year, until then we must be content with livestreams.

Shortly after the video premiere, Clean Bandit posted the following message on their socials, reminding us of glorious time of free travel and exotic holiday destinations: “We had the best time shooting this video in Jamaica last year, we wish we could be there with you allllll. Love to iann too who is so much fun to work with, you’ll see that in the video!!!”

Clean Bandit chose the perfect time to come back with ‘Higher‘ as the UK is still locked with freezing winter chills, not to mention the traditionally bleak month of January and the fast-approaching dreaded first anniversary since the first lockdown began. The electronic trio, consisting of Grace Chatto and the brothers Jack and Luke Peterson, jumps right back in their comfort zone with a well-produced upliftin dance hit driven by gentle string section and cheerful Summer melodies.

As always, the band have chosen a very suitable guest vocallist in Iann Dior who joins the endless list of brilliant collaborations such as Jess Glynn, Ellie Goulding, Luis Fonsi, Sean Paul, Anne-Marie, Zara Larsson, Louisa Johnson and many more. Clean Bandit are no strangers to chart-topping floorfillers with eight top 10 singles, including the timeless #1 dance anthems ‘Rather Be‘, ‘Rockabye‘, ‘Symphony‘ and ‘Solo‘.

Building on the momentum of ‘Tick Tock‘ that spent 19 weeks in the UK Singles Charts and became a regular radio feature, ‘Higher‘ is steadily gaining popularity with half million views on YouTube since its premiere.

Born Michael Ian Olmo in Puerto Rico before moving to the USA as a child, Iann Dior is considered amongst the most promising young talents in the contemporary hip-hop scene. Successfuly blending influences from rap, R&B, trap and even punk and rock, he first rose to fame in 2019 with the singles ‘Emotions‘ and ‘Gone Girl‘. The latest team-up with Clean Bandit for ‘Higher‘ is sure to further enhance his international profile and expand his growing UK fanbase.

A very productive and meticulous singer and songwriter, Iann Dior has already released the two EPs Never Good Enough (2019) and I’m Gone (2020) as well as the critically acclaimed debut studio album Industry Plant that came out in November 2019 via WorldWide Records. The young rapper has already collaborated with contemporary genre tastemakers like Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker, 24Goldn, Trippie Red, Gunna and Jxdn amongst many others.

The video shows the extensive process that the trio and their team go through when setting up sound and video recording equipment as well as all of their instruments and tools required for a standard live performance. Clean Bandit can be seen performing from behind a plethora of camera equipment and the montage is set to a soundtrack of their summer hit featuring 24kGoldn ‘Tick Tock.’ The video shines a light on the amount of people involved in creating something as simple as a live streamed performance from a big name act, from make up artists to camera operators and sound engineers, the amount of people involved in making the music industry happen is a lot larger than the illusion of a polished video.

Clean Bandit are a hit making trio who blend orchestral instrumentation with mainstream pop sensibilities and have worked with some of the biggest pop vocalists of this decade to achieve four UK number one singles to date. Artists who have featured on a Clean Bandit track include Jess Glynn who scored a number one with the trio in 2014 with ‘Rather Be,’ Zara Larsson who provided vocals for 2017’s number one hit ‘Symphony,’ and many more.

The child friendly lyrics and simple melodies have made Clean Bandit ideal for chart success, with their songs not requiring any censorship to receive radio airplay. Despite this the pandemic has, of course, affected the trio as it has all other musicians in the UK and across the world with gigs and tours being cancelled and life becoming very different for everyone. Fortunately Clean Bandit have done well in reaching out to their fans using online platforms and delivering live streams throughout the pandemic which, though no substitute for the real thing, can at least bring some joy to their millions of fans across the country and the world.

The video of ‘Tick Tock’ which was released in August follows the song’s theme of obsession and also plays on its name by including a dance routine for the popular new social media platform TikTok, clearly making an effort to appeal to the most recent generation of teenagers and young adults who have most taken to the platform. While the trio have not currently announced any touring plans for 2021, fans will likely be keeping a close eye on their social media for any clues of plans to take part in the return to live music when it is finally allowed to happen.

Out now on all platforms, ‘Tick Tock’ is the first time these artists have worked together, and fans have received it incredibly well. The collaborators are excited too, with Clean Bandit posting to their social media: “Guys the moment you’ve all been waiting for is RIGHT NOW.”

The video was released a few hours after the song, at 1pm today, 21st August, and it has already gained nearly 100,000 views. With Mabel dancing to the upbeat lovesong, Clean Bandit playing behind her, and 24kgoldn receiving his own cameo for his verse, the video is packed full of interesting visuals, and perhaps the dance moves will soon be seen on TikTok.

According to Grace Chatto of Clean Bandit, “the song is about obsession, which can sometimes feel like the relentless tick-tocking of time… So we decided to show some of our random obsessions in this video (anyone else love popcorn?!).”

The song is Clean Bandit’s first release since their 2018 album ‘What Is Love?’, while Mabel has shared two previous tracks this year including a collaboration with AJ Tracey in July. The artist put out her debut album ‘High Expectations’ in 2019, and has wasted no time before sharing more new music and attending the Brit Awards in February, where she won the award for British Female Solo Artist.

Hunger and starvation have been two great issues around the world for many years, but the numbers have only gone up since Covid-19 began to spread. Clean Bandit, Global Citizen, and many more have shown support, with some set to appear on the livestream. The organisation is not asking for donations, but simply a signature on the petition, or a Tweet sent to world leaders.

To watch the livestream, titled ‘House Party Against Hunger’, supporters can tune in on Clean Bandit’s YouTube channel at 12pm (BST) on 8th August. Clean Bandit have posted to their social media pages to encourage followers to stream and join the fight, as well as speaking to Global Citizen to discuss why they feel so passionately about this matter. They said, “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Global Citizen on House Party Against Hunger. It’s never been more important to take action to empower the world’s most vulnerable people, especially those from rural and remote communities.”

They continued, “The world desperately needs more empathy. That’s why we’re backing Global Citizen’s campaign calling on world leaders to do more in the fight against hunger — and urging our fans looking forward to our all-day house party on August 8 to head to their social action platform and support the campaign too. It’s not about donating money. It’s about raising your voice.”

King shared a tongue-in-cheek teaser on his Instagram, minimally detailing what will happen at the festival apart from its dates and time. The video also saw the host taking a jab at himself about the disastrous Fyre Fest. Check it out below.

King rose to extreme fame thanks to his appearance on Netflix’s ‘FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened‘. The documentary follows the Fyre Fest, a music festival that has become one of the most notorious events in the music history, that was hosted by Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule who promoted it as a luxurious event featuring A-listed celebrities, models, and musicians alongside fancy amenities—which turned out to be one of the biggest scams in the world. Meanwhile, King was recognised by his breathtaking dedication to “suck the D” in exchange for water supply for the festival.

His scandalous reputation aside, he will host the next music event, The Room Service Festival 2020, on April 24 to 26. It will also commemorate the third anniversary of Fyre Fest, which he is “beyond thrilled to host” and “bring everybody some well-deserved joy and distraction“. “This festival gives us a chance to translate the anniversary of Fyre into some real good that’s needed in the world right now,” said King in a press release.

British rising star Yungblud is leading the list of headliners together with British electronic group Clean Bandit and Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo. Room Service will see the performances-at-home from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Alec Benjamin, Ambar Lucid, Channel Tres, Chelsea Cutler, Gallant, Krewella, mxmtoon, Mt. Joy, RAC, Ruth B., Two Friends, and many more.

Shazam’s software allows users of smart phones to find out which song it is playing on the radio, just by holding their smart phone up to a speaker. 

For years the age old question has always been, “who sings this song?”, “what’s this song called?”, and we had no way of knowing the answer. Shazam is the answer to those prayers, and knows through its analysing technology the answer to those questions.

In 2018, Shazam revealed that the most searched for song of 2018 was Clean Bandit’s “Solo” featuring Demi Lovato. It was revealed to have been tagged 9.1 million times.

The second most popularly searched for song, was X by Nicky Jam and J Balvin, with Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa’s “One Kiss’ coming in at third place.

The company was bought by the giant Apple last year, for a reported $400m (£316m). Shazam had over 120 million users, and was one of the only music technology companies to be making a profit.

Apple has used its purchase of Shazam to get users over to their streaming service.

Ed Sheehan also proved popular in 2018 with his track “Perfect” coming in at the fifth most Shazamed song, and the number one song in Shazam’s global charts this year. “Perfect” had been at the top of the bill for nine weeks, as well as being the most shared song worldwide. Sheehan is the only artist to have claimed pop’s most Shazamed song of 2017 hit the number one spot in the same genre twice.

Shazam revealed that “Friends” by Marshmallow and Anne-Marie was 2018’s most Shazamed track in a day worldwide, on April 9th.  Drake was named as the most Shazamed artist of the year,  J Balvin was the second most popularly searched artist.

The festival is widely recognised as being the country’s premier music, camping and surfing lifestyle event, and sells out to capacity crowds each year and continues to grow in popularity. Sea Sessions have revealed the first wave of acts for 2019 with a trio of headline acts that include Sigrid, Clean Bandit, and Two Dorr Cinema Club.

Joining the trio of headliners, to complete the first wave of stellar acts, will be Wild Youth, Hermitage Green, Le Boom, DJ Hype, Columbia Mills, and Montauk Hotel, with more to be announced soon. Sea Sessions, Surf & Music Festival continues to go from strength to strength, was originally established in 2008, as an after party for a Surfing Competition. Since then the event has made itself one the foremost festival experiences in the country, having previously played host to the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Paul Weller and many more in the past decade.

Based on the coastline in Bundoran in Donegal, Sea Sessions has still stayed true to its roots whilst incorporated the more grand festival elements to it, and is now the holder of the top surfing competition in Ireland as well as hosting the world’s top skateboarders, BMX’ers and a host of other beach sports over the course of the weekend.

Norwegian songstress, Sigrid has emerged as one of this years fastest-rising European talents. She will be no stranger to Irish shores having already played at The Olympia, Longitude and Electric Picnic this year, with a massive show at the 3Arena also scheduled in for next year.

Completing the trio of headliners, Two Door Cinema Club’s back catalogue of hits and three top-selling albums make them perfect to play the summer festival. Meanwhile Grammy-winning Clean Bandit have rapidly become one of the hottest electronic bands in the world and look set to build upon that with their sophomore record ‘What Is Love?’ , which is set to be released on the 30th of November 2018.

Speaking about the line-up, festival director, Ray O’Donoghue said: “We’re delighted to have booked such a strong bunch of acts and we’ve a couple of surprises still up our sleeves. Sigrid is a bonafide Pop-Star in the making, Clean Bandit have a bunch of huge hits and we’re big fans of Two Door Cinema Club. Last year was unbelievable and probably the best Sea Sessions yet, we’re hoping we can go one better again for 2019. Bring on the summer.”
