Circa Waves have added two additional new dates to their upcoming August UK tour. The band will now begin the tour at the first newly added date at The 1865 on August 9 in Southampton, with the second additional show at the Liquid Room in Edinburgh on August 15. The tour also features their first gig back at the legendary Brixton Academy in London since the start of the pandemic.

The band’s frontman Kieran Shuddall stated that “We can’t believe we are finally going to be back playing live shows again next month!! Ahead of the excitement we decided to add a couple of intimate shows to our tour! 1865 in Southampton and Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh. These will sell out quickly, so make sure you’re up early to get yours tomorrow!!!”

The band had originally intended to go on tour last year in support of their most recent album ‘Sad Happy’, which was released in March 2020. This was then followed up by the surprise release of their EP ‘Sadder, Happier’ in May.

However, due to the enforced coronavirus shutdown of live music initially forced Circa Waves to postpone their touring plans into 2021. They were made to rearrange the dates for this March but again had to push it back even further this time to August.

With all legal COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in England today (July 19), the band will now go ahead with their August dates and have added new shows in Southampton and Edinburgh.

All the Circa Waves’ UK tour dates are shown below. Tickets for the two new dates will go on sale tomorrow morning (July 20) at 9 am BST, whilst all remaining tickets for the existing shows can be bought here

The festival was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has changed promoters since allegations of staff mistreatment. The festival was previously promoted by SSD Concerts who were involved in the claims made public on the company review site Glassdoor after their Instagram account was allegedly hacked, the claims stated that SSD Concerts were underpaying staff and making employees feel uncomfortable at their workplace. The festival is now promoted by one of the largest event promoters within the UK, Kilimanjaro Live.

CEO of Kilimanjaro Live, Stuart Galbraith had this to say about the return of This is Tomorrow.

“The pandemic has caused huge challenges for the live industry in 2020 and 2021 and when the opportunity came up for us to get involved with This Is Tomorrow it was a complete no brainer and a very easy decision for us to make, It’s a brilliant festival with huge potential in an area which has been traditionally over-looked as a music market. We’re delighted to be able to get this back in the diary and hope to see everyone in September for what promises to be one hell of a party.’’

The festival will also be putting on a free festival for NHS key workers as a thank you for their hard work throughout the COVID pandemic. The free festival will take place on the bank holiday Monday May 31st 2021 and will be held in Exhibition Park, headliners include Sam Fender, Gerry Cinnamon and celebrated British rockers Royal Blood. The one-off event will raise money for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust and The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Tickets are now on sale for This Is Tomorrow as well as their This Is For The NHS event.

Kieran Shudall, lead singer and guitarrist of Liverpool indie rock favourites Circa Waves, shared the debut single from his side project. The track is called ‘H8 Lovin‘ produced under the artistic pseudonym VEN and licensed under PIAS on behalf of Prolifica Inc. The song is already available to stream or download on all major platforms. The release today was accompanied by emotive music video, and symbolically marked the inception of VEN.

‘H8 Lovin‘ switches off the signature alternative rock elements of Circa Waves but maintains their gentle melodies and indie sensibility. VEN delivers a personal and minimalistic track with soulflul rhythm and certain R&B feel that replaces live instrumentation for experimental electronics. Lyrically, the track is an intimate romantic conversation with certain relevance to our “normal” lives of recent months: “seven hours on this couch / yeh i should try and leave this house / i lose momentum every sentence / that leaves my mouth“.

Kieran Shudall has been the driving force behind Circa Waves ever since their formation in 2013. He played key part during the composition and recording process during all of their records so far – from their critically acclaimed debut Young Chasers (2015), through its follow-up Different Creatures (2017) and What’s It Like Over There? (2019) to the band’s latest Sad Happy from 2020. Without VEN suggesting any changes to the band, Shudall made sure to reassure his followers while announcing the debut single of his side project today: “I’m still writing Circa Waves bangers don’t worry“.

Earlier this year Circa Waves released their fourth studio album Happy Sad through Prolifica as a double release in January and March 2020. The record received predominantly positive reaction from critics and fans and reached a record fourth place in the main UK Albums Chart alongside a second position in the UK Indie Chart. It was also followed by the surprise EP Sadder, Happier from May, that featured a compilation of acoustic tracks and outtakes from the studio album recorded at Shudall’s home studio.

In a particularly productive year, Circa Waves followed with their uplifting latest single ‘Lemonade‘ featuring Alfie Templeman from August 2020. While being very much Circa Waves in overal sound and arrangement, the single is significantly closer to VEN’s more experimental indie direction. The initial responses to ‘H8 Lovin‘ have been predominantly warm, with fans really embracing Shudall’s new “wonderful adventure“.

The 2020 festival was sadly cancelled in just its third year due to Covid-19 guidelines, so bands, fans, and organisers are all incredibly excited to begin holding live shows again. Organisers released a statement which said, “We are delighted that the vast majority of artists playing at the festival have confirmed they will return. Everyone involved in the festival and the artists that are playing are working really hard to give you the festival you wanted.”

Neighbourhood Weekender Festival began in 2018 in Warrington as an expansion of Manchester’s festal of the same name. Past years have seen acts such as George Ezra, Primal Scream, and Richard Ashcroft.

Circa Waves’ double album ‘Sad Happy’ was released in March 2020, and had planned a UK tour to run throughout the spring and summer. Upon government advice, these shows were postponed to September with the safety of both the audience and crew in mind. Today, the band announced a further postponement of the tour, which will now take place in March 2021.

Frontman Kieran Shudall posted on the band’s online platforms to inform fans. The statement read: “We will play these shows if it’s the last thing we do!!! We have been told we have to move the gigs to March. We are really disappointed that we can’t play for you this year but safety is obviously the most important thing.”

He continued, “It’s mad to release an album in March and not get to play the songs till a whole year later,” but reminded fans of how amazing the performances will be, asking them to retain their tickets for next year. For any listeners who haven’t yet purchased tickets, they are available now from the Circa Waves website.

Circa Waves recently shared a brand-new EP entitled ‘Sadder, Happier‘. The collection is compiled from an acoustic rendition of the track, “Sad Happy“, and four outtakes from their latest studio album recorded at frontman Kieran Shudall’s home studio The Boxroom.

It seems like the horrible pandemic of coronavirus cannot stop the four lads from Liverpool from giving us joy with their music. The ‘Sadder, Happier‘ EP is the second drop by them this year, following the release of the fourth studio album ‘Sad Happy‘.

This freshly released compilation is a surprise drop that Shudall wanted to “keep [the music] out there at a time when people need it more than ever.” He told NME that the new EP was intended to give “a bit of sanity and a release“.

“Evidently I was quite pissed off while writing these songs. Lyrically it’s a bit more disenfranchised and talks about my issues with society, and it’s more self-deprecation of me being like ‘I’m annoyed at myself, I wish I was better’. But it’s cathartic, it’s all good for the soul,” he explained how the EP was an “angry” work.

In addition to the acoustic version of “Sad Happy” that Shudall made for fans to experience the “bare bones” beginning of it, there are four new never-heard-before tunes: “Gun in My Hand“, “The Only One Who Lets Me In“, “Sugar Side“, and “Anti Social Anxiety“. These tracks showcase the band’s incredible talent in creating genre-bending music and writing songs with such high sentiment alongside subtle social comments.

Since 2019, the Liverpudlian group has been impressively unstoppable. Back in April 2019, they dropped ‘What’s It Like Over There?‘, the third studio album that was the band’s departure from their guitar-based rock signature for an experiment on pop music and piano sound. The LP was met with moderate success from singles like “Movies” and “Times Won’t Change Me” while receiving mixed reviews from critics.

Less than a year after the third album, the “T-shirt Weather” hitmaker rushed out and unveiled ‘Sad Happy‘, the two-part fourth album which has become their most commercially successful and critically acclaimed to date. The album hit number four on the UK Albums Chart and spawned singles like the title track, “Jacqueline“, and “Move to San Francisco“.

‘Sadder, Happier‘ is the second time the band has revealed a follow-up to the original record. After the release of ‘What’s It Like Over There?‘, they shared the ‘What’s That Left Over There?‘ EP, consisting of a piano version of two tracks from the LP and two unreleased tracks.

In the endless list of artists forced to cancel and postpone their tours due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Circa Waves are also one who cannot possibly avoid such ill fate. They were scheduled for the UK tour in support of the ‘Sad Happy‘ LP in March, but they have pushed back all dates to September. See the post below for the rescheduled dates and visit their official site for tickets.

Circa Waves has decided to cancel the rest of their intimate shows in support of the release of their latest album Sad Happy. The unfortunate news broke out about 40 minutes before the show in Sheffield started, which made the ticket-holders upset and disappointed at the cancellation.

The Liverpool four-piece rockers announced their “disappointing” decision to cancel all the shows in this week on their social media. Read the announcement from the tweet below.

The intimate shows this week were scheduled to take off in order to promote the Liverpudlians’ fourth studio album. The tour already kicked off on March 12 in Kingston and continued for three more dates in Nottingham, Leeds, and Manchester. However, because of the government’s restriction on public gatherings, the “T-Shirt Weather” group came to agreement to put call off the three remaining gigs in Sheffield, Dundee, and Preston. However, the band has recently decided to postpone their upcoming headlining tour in support of the record to September.

Originally, the first date of the ‘Sad Happy’ Tour was scheduled to kick off on March 27 in Glasgow, followed by six more dates. All of these shows are rescheduled to September with the hope that the coronavirus situation will be alleviated at the time. See the announcement below.

Circa Waves just released a brand new LP Sad Happy (via Prolifica) last Friday. The record is their fourth and most ambitious attempt in their career since 2015’s breakout hit Young Chasers. Sad Happy is a two-part album, consisting of two separate EPs—Sad and Happy—each of which narrates stories of pushing-30s millennials lost in the world filled with sadness and happiness, with the remarkable songwriting by frontman Kieran Shudall.

The album was initially premiered with “Jacqueline“, the first single off the Happy side that tells a story of a teenage mother struggling through her hard time. The band subsequently released videos for “Move to San Francisco“, “Sad Happy”, and “Battered & Bruised” to further the promotion of the album.

Sitting at the top 30 on the UK iTunes Album Chart at the moment, Sad Happy has received widespread acclaim for the production and growth shown in the album. NME, for example, gave the album four stars, praising the album for its “contemplative, conflicted look at modern life.”

Sad Happy is out now, and those who have tickets for their shows can rest assured to see the four lads on stage in September. Meanwhile, those who want to purchase one can visit here. Check out the dates below.

The Album Release Shows 2020 are intended to allow Circa Waves’ fans to experience new music from the upcoming LP in an intimate and personal atmosphere. Frontman Kieran Shudall spoke of the shows: “We wanted to give you the chance to be the first to listen to our new tracks off our new album Sad Happy up close and personal. These shows will be mad, sweaty and rowdy!!! Come down and celebrate the release of our new album!!!”

Sad Happy is the Liverpool four-piece band’s fourth studio album. The record is set to follow up the two-part release trend with the likes of Foal’s recent record Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost, which was unleashed in two separate chunks back in March and October, respectively, last year.

The “T-Shirt Weather” hitmaker already unveiled the first half Happy on January 10. “Jacqueline” and “Move to San Francisco” are cut for the promotion of the album. Meanwhile, Sad will subsequently arrive on March 13 with seven more tracks and one bonus track, completing the full 15-song tracklist of the entire record.

After wrapping up the intimate shows where fans can get a rare chance to see the four lads performing in close proximity, Circa Waves will jump on to the road for the Sad Happy Tour in support of the album. The dates and tickets are already announced and available for purchase here.

Circa Waves have shared their latest track “Move to San Francisco” from Happy, the first half of their two-part fourth studio album Sad Happy. Alongside the track, the Liverpool band has also debuted a music video for the track, which they self-shot. On January 10, the four-piece rockers will also drop the entire Happy part.

Taken from Happy, “Move to San Francisco” is a track about wishing to find happiness in such city. Frontman Kieran Shudall, according to Dork, indicated how the song was inspired by Bruce Springsteen:

“It’s about escapism, pessimism and Bruce Springsteen. In the spirit of DIY we decided to film the video ourselves and let Joe [Falconer] edit the shit out of it. We walked to the highest point in San Fran, went to the lowest dive bars and even filmed a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge. What the video lacks in camera prowess it makes up for in idiotic charm.”

Prior to the release of Happy, Circa Waves held a secret listening session for their fans in London on January 8. The announcement was made through a video of Shudall wishing everyone on New Year’s Day and inviting Circa Waves’ fans to come and listen to Happy with them. The event is exclusive for Deezer users.

Scottish rock band Vistas has released their new single “Teenage Blues”. The track is the first look into their debut album aimed to be out sometime next year. The band will also open for Circa Waves’ UK tour next year.

Vistas, a three-piece indie rock band from Scotland, is the next big act to keep an eye on. Recently, the band has released a new single titled “Teenage Blues”, a track co-written with Circa Waves’ Kieran Shudall that talks about “the transition from your teenage years into adulthood,” says the frontman Prentice Robertson.

“These are all problems that weigh on the mind of people trying to take the next steps in their lives, and the chorus addresses this. The chorus answers the fear of the changes by showing that there is a constant within them saying: ‘I will always be there'”.

“Teenage Blues” is reportedly the first single off Vistas’ first full-length album that is set for the next year’s release. Earlier this year, the three Scottish lads released Hello, a debut four-track EP including “Like an American”, “Eighteen”, “Headspace”, and “Fade”. Every song on the EP is filled with thunderous guitar and bass sounds mixed with synths and pop-banger hooks. All songs have been streamed over a million times on Spotify, making the band become a rising star aiming for the bright future in the UK music scene.

Last October, Prentice (vocals and guitar), Jamie (bass), and Dylan (guitar) embarked on the UK tour, including sold-out headlining shows in Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, and London. Next year, the guitar-pop band will go on the road again, but this time, they will support the shows for Circa Waves that will release their fourth studio album Sad Happy in March. It is the second time Vistas opened a show for the Liverpool rock band; the first time was back in May 2018 in Newcastle.

As Vistas is building their prospect to be the next big thing in the music scene, it is high time to check out their music. Keep up with the band on their social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Also, check out the tour dates of Circa Waves’ upcoming tour where Vistas is the support act at O2 Academy Brixton, London on April 3.
