The sixty-minute feature is set to bring the rooftop performance to the big screen, and will enjoy a global theatrical run from 11th-13th February 2022. IMAX took to their Instagram to post an announcement concerning the upcoming release.

The feature’s global run will kickstart with a one-night event held within participating theatres. The exclusive screening will take place on 30th January 2022, the premiere screening of the feature marks 53 years since the famous gig. The very special screening will be broadcasted via satellite across selected IMAX theatres and will include a Q&A with the filmmaker. The director and creator Peter Jackson has provided the following statement concerning the upcoming feature, “I’m thrilled that the rooftop concert from The Beatles: Get Back is going to be experienced in IMAX, on that huge screen, It’s The Beatles’ last concert, and it’s the absolute perfect way to see and hear it.”

President of IMAX Entertainment Megan Colligan also has provided a statement regarding the theatre’s excitement to host the upcoming feature. “Ever since Peter Jackson’s beautiful and illuminating docuseries debuted, we’ve heard non-stop from fans who want to experience its unforgettable rooftop performance in IMAX, We are so excited to partner with Disney to bring ‘Get Back’ to an entirely new stage and give Beatles fans everywhere a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch and hear their heroes in the unrivalled sight and sound of IMAX.”

The concert which Jackson beautifully portrayed in his recent docu-series is cited as the band’s final live performance. The unannounced concert was held on 30th January 1969 on the rooftop of the Apple Corps headquarters located in London. The impromptu performance lasted for 42 minutes before the Metropolitan police marched to the Savile Row offices to request a sound reduction. Although unplanned, the performance was part of an ongoing preconceived project which aimed to return The Beatles to a live band. The iconic concert obtained its namesake due to the setlist, the single “Get Back” concluded the unusual performance. Along with the setting and subsequent law involvement, the concert inclusion within pop culture is cemented by John Lennon’s closing words. The artist and cultural figure ended the gig with the now infamous quote, “I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we’ve passed the audition”.

Fans of the upcoming feature’s predeceasing release will be able to pre-order the docu-series on Blu Ray. Jackson’s complete series, ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ will be available on the format from 28th February 2022.

Recorded at their London-based Kong Studios HQ, Song Machine was filmed and recorded as a livestream then released as an album, with numerous big name features including Slowthai, Robert Smith, Skepta, and the late Tony Allen in one of his last features.

Made possible by Trafalgar Releasing and LiveNOW, it is only in cinemas for one day, the 8th of December, in screenings across the globe. Tickets go on sale on the 11th of November and can be bought here.

Alongside the announcement of this exciting new cinema release, Gorillaz have additionally announced a rerelease of their eponymous first album, celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Released in 2001, Gorillaz but the band on the map, primarily featuring Del tha Funky Homosapien, and spawning several Gorillaz standards, including ‘Clint Eastwood’, ’19-2000′, and ‘Rock the House’.

The rerelease is coming in the form of a formidable boxset: an eight-disc vinyl collection, a 27-page “Department of Music Correction” dossier of leaked documents, memos, faxes, and some early Hewlett sketches and drawings, according to liveforthemusic.com. A must-have for any hard-line Gorillaz fan, the boxset can be bought here for a whopping £170.

South London singer-songwriter Arlo Parks has been busy this year. She has released three powerful singles: Eugene, Black Dog and Hurt, as well as a cover of Radiohead’s Creep. In addition to this, she has appeared on countless platforms such as COLORSXSTUDIOS, BBC Live Lounge and most recently a Channel 4 special for World Mental Health Day.

Park’s spoken words are as eloquent as her song-lyrics. At only the age of twenty, she is incredibly self-aware about her mental health and the creative process. Talking to Jordan Stephens of Rizzle Kicks, she articulately discusses the dissonance between the way one sees oneself vs. the way the world sees you: ‘things can be going incredibly in terms of your career… but the internal landscape is so detached from the success around you’.

The Everyman’s annual Music Film Festival is a way of celebrating the ‘crossover and creativity between the fields of music and film’. It has been running for six years now, and in the past has involved Q&A’s, live music and film screenings of films such as Amazing Grace and Teen Spirit. This year, alongside Parks, there will be a feature of Nick Cave playing his songs alone at Alexandra Palace; as well as an exclusive screening of Billie Holiday tapes and interviews.

Park’s session is set to feature ‘a selection of music videos’ which will then presumably be discussed in the Q&A. She is a well chosen candidate for this conversation, given the artful nature of her music videos. The video for Eugene, directed by Loyle Carner and his brother, was an evocative accompaniment to the track. The birds-eye view of Parks and her best friend lounging about in a bedroom gives the viewer the sense of observing perfectly undisturbed and intimate moments.
