Ed Sheeran and Coldplay To Join Line-Up For Worldwide Event Global Citizen Live

Ed Sheeran has been announced to join the star-studded line-up to perform at Global Citizen Live, the event will take place on 25th September 2021 within various locations worldwide.

This year’s Global Citizen Live will take place in Rio de Janerio, London, Seoul, Los Angles, Sydney, Lagos, France’s capital city Paris and US city New York City and will include various artist’s live performances as well as pre-recorded sets. The worldwide concert aims to promote unity whilst rallying citizens of the world to urge major conglobates, governments and politicians as well as philanthropists to band together to help the world’s poverty-stricken communities and help rectify the recent global issues.

The global event has been dated to take place this September to match with the UN General Assembly which is also taking place this September. Global Citizen Live will also coincide with other important meetings and summits including the G20 and COP26 set to take later on in 2021. Each act performing will be taking part in a 24-hour historic musical event, the concerts will be aired over many broadcasted mediums including ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, IHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube, TIME, Twitter as well as many more social media and televised channels.

Ed Sheeran will join the impressive list of artists billed to perform in Paris, joining the ‘Shape of You’ singer are hitmakers Black Eyed Peas, H.E.R., Dj Snake, Christine and the Queens and ‘Kiss Me More’ singer Doja Cat. The line-up featured in Lagos include musician Femi Kuti, singer-songwriter Davido, Made Kuti and MTV Europe music award winner Tiwa Savage.

New York City’s event will take place at the famous landmark, Central Park, Global Citizen has been hosting events at the famed landmark since 2012. Performing at the city’s venue includes a vast array of artists such as ‘Bad Guy’ singer Billie Eilish and former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello. Also included to play the city that never sleeps are British hitmakers Coldplay, legendary artist Jennifer Lopez, ‘Good as Hell’ singer Lizzo, Shawn Mendes and rapper Meek Mill. New York City’s event will also see performances by special guests Burna Boy and Lang Lang, also set to take the stage at Central Park is 80’s pop icon Cyndi Lauper, known for her ‘Girl’s Just Want To Have Fun’ mega-hit.

Other artists donating themselves to the cause include Queen + Adam Lambert singer Adam Lambert, Alessia Cara, Opera tenor singer Andrea Bocelli, Angélique Kidjo, BTS, Demi Lovato, legendary 80’s band Duran Duran, iconic punk rockers Green Day, Hugh Jackman & Deborra-Lee Furness, Jon Batiste, Country music artist Keith Urban, ‘Royals’ singer-songwriter Lorde, The Lumineers, thrash metal pioneers Metallica, Rag ‘ n’ Bone Man, Ricky Martin, The Weeknd and Usher with even more acts to be announced.

Global Citizen’s Head of Music, Entertainment and Artist Relations, Katie Hill, has provided the following statement describing the organisation’s mission statement whilst expressing the organisation’s excitement to work with the host of artists. “Over the last year and a half, we’ve seen music bring communities together and inspire action during one of the most challenging times of our generation, We’re excited to join these incredible artists to unite people across the globe on September 25 as we hold world leaders and business leaders accountable to rectify the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we carefully resume Global Citizen’s live events, we couldn’t be more grateful to each of these artists for donating their time and performances to make an impact through this urgent campaign.”

Potential ticket-holders must earn their way into the amazing event by winning their tickets and each location has its own draw. You must begin by downloading the Global Citizen app and creating an account, within this app users can sign petitions, write letters to government officials and politicians, share news and messages via social media plus many more actions. These actions can earn users points, which they can then use to enter to win tickets to the event. The first collection of actions was released on 10th August 2021, fans have until 24th August 2021 to fulfil enough actions to place them in the competition to receive tickets. The lucky winners will be selected at random and will be notified via email, once the email has been received, ticket winners have 48 hours in which to claim their tickets.

Christine and the Queens New Collab with Indochine on ‘3SEX’

Christine and the Queens, also known as Chris, has released a new collaboration with the successful French band Indochine. The track is called 3SEX and is a remix, or re-working of the band’s single 3e sexe off the 1985 album 3.

The newly announced collaboration has come with several social-media posts and an official music video for the track. The video features Chris and the lead singer of Indochine, Nicola Sirkis.

The music video was directed by Colin Solal Cardo. Both of the French singers were able to capture electropop genre that Christine and the Queens is known for, while maintaining the signature sound of the highly acclaimed Indochine.

Christine and the Queens recently released their newest music in the form of the EP, La Vita Nuova. The EP was dropped in the Spring of this year, 2020. Chris has not released a full-length album since the self-titled 2018 release of Chris.

While the artist is French, in 2016 they were still able to procure a spot on the BBC’s Top 100 Women of 2016 due to her immense popularity in the UK. In 2019 she released the song Gone with Charli XCX that skyrocketed in the charts.

That same year the pop-star appeared on the eleventh season of Rupaul’s Drag Race. Chris is popular in the LGBTQ+ community due to her announcement in 2015 that she is pansexual and genderqueer.

The artist is not currently on tour. Christine and the Queens do not have an upcoming 2021 show-date list as of yet due to safety concerns surrounding the ongoing global pandemic, Covid-19 otherwise known as Coronavirus.

2020 is nevertheless a new chapter in the musician’s career, her latest EP feeling more modern then ever. It has received widespread critical praise despite the lack of a single reaching the UK top charts. More than that, it seems that the UK is becoming more interested in French-speaking music with the rise of Dua Lipa’s newest single Fever which features a French-speaking singer.

It is unclear when the next full length album will be released by Christine and the Queens however, the EP La Vita Nuova is available for streaming now, and the original album 3 is as well. The new remix of 3SEX with Indochine is available on all platforms today.

Coldplay and Other Stars Live-stream Concerts From Home

In this uncertain time, the coronavirus has cancelled many shows around the world and caused artists to isolate themselves for the safety of everyone around them. But, here to lift everyone’s spirits is Coldplay’s Chris Martin, streaming a live set via Instagram on Monday 16th March. Many other musicians have followed suit.

Martin chatted to fans through Instagram Live and played acoustic piano songs for a set of 30 minutes, covering ‘Life On Mars’ and playing a few of Coldplay’s hits such as ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Clocks’, and ‘Yellow’. The campaign has been called ‘Together, At Home’ and is a collaboration between the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Global Citizen. It is a series of virtual concerts which hopes to “promote unity amis the Covid-19 pandemic’s social distancing protocols“ as well as supporting WHO’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The livestream had 31,000 viewers including John Legend, fellow song-writer and friend of Martin, who will hopefully be one the next acts to livestream.

Other artists and bands have joined in, including Yungblud. The 22-year-old singer had planned to tour South America during this time but, upon its cancellation, he decided to connect with fans online from America, where he is currently residing. He put on a full gig called ‘The Yungblud Show’ with a band and a venue, live streaming an hour long set which even included a cooking segment.

317,000 people tuned in and sent comments and videos of themselves dancing in their homes. In an interview with Channel 4, the artist said the the idea was originally to have a small bedroom performance, but the fans turned it into a big production. Yungblud also mentioned that he was currently trying to plan the next event.

Christine And The Queens are staging nightly live shows from the Ferber recording studio in Paris, while Keith Urban played a 30 minute show from his warehouse as Nicole Kidman listened in the background. These can be found on their Instagram pages.

Frank Turner held a fundraising show on Facebook yesterday (Tuesday 17th March) to combat financial losses. Finally, Welsh folk band Calan sold personalised songs along with some of their clothes to earn back the money from their cancelled tour.

Bring Me The Horizon Announce Details of their All Points East Slot

Bring Me The Horizon have revealed more details about their upcoming headline slot, at All Points East, this May. The band will be make history, next month, as they will be headlining a festival for the first time. The All Points East festival will take place, at London’s Victoria Park, between the 24th of May and the 02nd of June 2019.

Bring Me The Horizon will be taking to the stage on Friday the 31st of May 2019. The band have revealed that they are planning a special set, to mark their first headline festival slot, which will be longer and include rarities.

Speaking to Gigwise, about their landmark performance at the festival, keyboardist Jordan Fish, said: “The show is going to be completely different to what we’re doing at any other festival and not only in terms of the setlist. We’ve got a much longer setlist than we would get at any other festival, we’ve got two hours which is longer than we’ve ever played before, and it gives us the opportunity to play a much more varied set and do some old stuff that we wouldn’t necessarily do, which is going to be exciting for the fans I think.

“We’re going to do some songs that we haven’t played for a long time and it allows us to fit in some newer stuff as well, I guess it means we really don’t have to compromise on the set or drop anything.”

The band will be joined, on Friday the 31st of May, by a number of hand-picked bands to support them, which includes Architects, Run The Jewels, Nothing But Thieves, Idles, Alice Glas, While She Sleeps, Employed To Serve, Scarlxrd, and Yonaka. Speaking about how they picked the bands, bassist Matt Kean, said: “We got together over a bunch of different meetings and put together a list of bands that we wanted.”

While, Fish added: “We were all pretty much on the same page with it, obviously our fans traditionally are more rock scene fans, but then a lot of the music that we listen to and are influenced by is a lot more varied so it’s trying to come up with a line-up that feels like it’s going to appeal to someone who likes our music but also a line-up that would appeal to us or people who have a varied taste.

“Anything that we think is exciting from any genre rather than loading it with rock bands, we’re trying to think of stuff that’s going to work, not necessarily in terms of genre, but in terms of the energy and the vibe.”

Along with the responsibility of headlining comes the freedom that comes with playing a longer set, with Fish adding: “There’s going to be something for every one of our fans there.

“We’re going to do some older stuff just because of the history of the band and we’re probably going to be playing some new songs that we’ve never played before off of the new album and obviously everything in between is going to get a good run too. It’s going to be the most comprehensive set for a Bring Me The Horizon fan that we’ve ever played.”

Meanwhile, also headlining the All Points East festival, this May, will be The Chemical Brothers, The Strokes, Christine And The Queens, Mumford & Sons, and Bon Iver. Christine And The Queens will be joined, on Sunday the 26th of May, by James Blake, Metronomy, Maribou State, Kamasi Washington, Beach House, Honne, Kurt Vile And The Violators, Princess Nokia, Ezra Collective, Toro Y Moi, Rina Sawayama, Bob Moses, Andrew Weatherall, Yves Tumor, Baloji, Cuco, Moxie, Kojaque, Octo Octa, Galcher Lustwerk, Paquita Gordon, and Mild Orange.

On Saturday 01st of June, Mumford & Sons, will be taking the headline slot and will be joined by the likes of Leon Bridges, Dizzie Rascal, The Vaccines, Dermot Kennedy, Sam Fender, The Staves, Jade Bird, Gretta Ray, and Dizzy. Finally, closing the festival, on the Sunday the 02nd of June will be headliners Bon Iver, who will be joined by Mac Demarco, First Aid Kit, John Grant, The Tallest Man On Earth, Ezra Furman, RY X, Phosphorescent, Julien Baker, Snail Mail, Kokoko!, and Charlie Cunningham.

Mumford & Sons Complete All Points East 2019 Headline Acts

Mumford & Sons have been confirmed as the final headliner for All Points East 2019. The ten-day music and entertainment festival will be returning, to Victoria Park, in the Tower Hamlets region of London. With All Points East 2019 set to take place from the 24th of May to the 2nd of June 2019. Tickets for the 2019 edition of festival will go on general sale on Friday the 9th of November 2018, at 9am.

The four-piece, who will be bringing their, ‘Gentlemen of the Road’ touring event, to the east London festival, join the five other headliners, which includes The Chemical Brothers, The Strokes, Christine and the Queens, Bring Me The Horizon, and Bon Iver.

Mumford & Sons have taken the final headline slot for this year’s All Points East, with the band set to bring their “community-minded”, ‘Gentlemen of the Road’ touring festival to Victoria Park, on Saturday the 1st of June, in what will be a British festival exclusive for 2019.

Supporting the band throughout the day will be a host of acts, with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Leon Bridges and The Vaccines among the confirmed names so far. The following acts are also on the bill, on the 1st of June, and will be joining the already stellar line-up are Sam Fender, Jade Bird, Dermot Kennedy, and Dizzy.

Joining headliners, The Chemical Brothers, Friday the 24th of May, will be Hot Chip, Primal Scream, Jon Hopkins (Live), Spiritualized, Little Dragon, Peggy Gou (Presents Gou Talk), Róisín Murphy, Danny Brown, David August, Lane 8, Little Simz, Optimo, Ibibio Sound, Machine, Petite Noir, Maurice Fulton, Josey Rebelle, Ge-ology, and DMX Krew.
