The drum and bass hitmakers will bring their riveting and electrifying production to All Points East-goers, celebrating the summer at London’s Victoria Park with energy and thrills.

Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) have collaborated together since the early 2000s, bringing both fresh and compelling perspectives to modern jungle and dnb music. They have produced tracks for some of the biggest names in music, including: Rihanna, Becky Hill, Dizzee Rascal and Example (to name a few). Most recently their track with Stormzy, ‘BACKBONE’, exhibited a seamless crossover between electronic music and grime. It climbed the charts, peaking at number 1 – marking not only the pair’s first number one hit but earnt them two BRIT nominations at this year’s awards, for ‘Song Of The Year With Mastercard’ and ‘Best Dance Act’. This is monumental given the ‘Disconnect’ duo won their first BRIT only last year for ‘Producer of the Year’ following their contributions to their seventh album ‘2 RUFF – Vol. 1’ .

Chase & Status commented on the news of their headline set at All Points East this year, stating: “Bringing RTRN II Dance to Victoria Park this summer is massive for us and to do it with these artists is super exciting for our home town. We’re ready to bring the energy and make it a night to remember with everyone who’s been on this journey with us”.

Prior to the announcement the duo assisted in the curation of event, hand selecting their special guests. Overmono, Sammy Virji and Nia Archives will be performing exclusive sets during the build up to Chase & Status’ headline show. More guests are set to be added to the lineup soon.

Their appearance at All Points East adds to an already extensive schedule for 2025. The pair will be heading on tour in February performing a handful of shows in Mexico, Japan and the US, before embarking on a UK arena tour throughout April and May.

Chase & Status’ RTRN II FABRIC marks part six of the iconic club’s Fabric Presents series that started in February 2019 with a performance by UK producer and DJ Bonobo celebrating the music venue’s 20th anniversary, and have since featured Kölsch, The Martinez Brothers, Amelie Lens, Maribou State, with Brooklyn-based house DJ Octo Octa & Eris Drew in line for the next installment in November 2020. The series covers a wide range of electronic genres and have already presented some of the finest names in the international house, techno and trip-hop scenes, with Chase & Status given the honour to enrich its repertoir with “over an hour of raw, melodic & energetic jungle“.

RTRN II FABRIC features club classics and well-known tracks by Remarc, DJ Rap, SHY FX, Wax Doctor, Watch The Ride and Bou, as well as Chase & Status’ latest release ‘Engage‘ and few previously unheard tracks from their upcoming record like ‘Why‘ and ‘Hardstep‘. The compilation title itself is a clever twist on their last album RTRN II JUNGLE from 2019 that saw the band return to their earlier jungle roots and authentic drum’n’bass sound after few previous years of experimenting with grime projects, venturing into pop and dance territories and collaborating with an extensive list of established music stars and breakthrough artists.

In an exclusive interview for Beatportal, Will Kennard (Chase) reveals curious details about spending time with his family and keeping busy with music under lockdown, the difficulties in creating such extensive mix in the contemporary digital times, and the immence importance of Fabric for the UK club scene and the duo’s own history. He goes on to discuss the release of Chase & Status’ new tracks as part of the mix instead of standalone singles, and the final tracklist of the compilation:

“This just made perfect sense. Doing a mix with other people’s songs is cool, but we wanted there to be a bit more interest in it. There are lots of original versions of stuff, original music, and just kinds of different edits of existing songs. So I think it sounds pretty fresh!”

Curated entirely by the two London DJs, the world’s biggest drum’n’bass playlist this week covers an exclusive selection of 49 club bangers, including some of their recent jungle releases and more than 4 hours of d’n’b nostalgia. This is the first time Chase & Status are invited to appear on any of the iconic Fabric series that first started in 2001 and have since became a must-have release for all lovers of electronic music. Chase & Status used their social media channels to share the exciting news and praise Fabric for its “electric” energy and huge unfluence over the British club scene and culture.

RTRN II FABRIC will feature tracks by Remarc, DJ Rap, SHY FX, Wax Doctor, Watch The Ride and Bou, alongside upcoming material and VIP remixes of well-known favourite and club classics by Chase & Status themselves. The title is a clever twist on their last album RTRN II JUNGLE from 2019 that saw the band return to their earlier and familiar jungle and drum’n’bass sound after few previous years of experimenting with grime projects, venturing into pop and dance territories and collaborating with an extensive list of established music stars and breakthrough artists.

The Fabric Presents series started last year with exclusive set by Bonobo in February 2019, followed by Kolsch (May 2019), The Martinez Brothers (September 2019) and Amelie Lens (November 2019). The last and only release from this year saw English electronic duo Maribou State record a full mix for the March 2020 release.

The legendary music club Fabric in Farrington, London, was opened in 1999 and first started running a series of hundred self-titled compilation mixes by established and emerging DJs between 2001 and 2018. Simultaniously, a second FABRICLIVE series ran for another hundred releases, showcasing a vast catalogue of drum’n’bass, grime, hip-hop and jungle club anthems, typicly played at the venue’s iconic Friday parties. Some of the bigger names to be featured on either series include Andy C, Groove Armada, Scuba, Sasha, Diplo, DJ Hype, High Contrast, Goldie, Four Tet, Skream, and many more.

This weekend, Chase & Status are headlining the second week of the socially distanced We Are 500 festival in Upminster. The band is performing twice on Saturday 12th September and although the evening show has already sold out, tickets are still available for the day event. Тhe first announcement for the headliners was posted on the official YouTube page of the festival.

Shortly after, Lily Allen was revealed as the third headliner. She has been performing and writing music for the past 14 years, winning the hearts of fans with songs such as ‘Smile‘, ‘Not Fair‘, ‘The Fear‘, ‘LDN‘ and ‘Trigger Bang‘.

The Festival will feature renown DJs such as Alix Perez, Clipz, Critical Sound System, Darkzy & Window Kid and many more.

Some of the  MC’s that will take part in the festival this year are Carasel, Catalyst, Crisis MC, Designate and Dread MC.

The Skate and BMX set will include International Pro+ Open Competitions, Ring of Fire and Wallride.

The Street Art exhibition and performance program will offer International Artist & Top local talent live and curated art. The exhibition program will also include showcased ramps, rails, vehicles and walls.

Just like every other festival, the NASS was also affected by the Coronavirus situation. On 25 March the following message was posted on the official Facebook page of the event.
