The announcement comes after the rapper was released early from prison after being sentenced to eight months in prison, in December 2018, after he was caught with a knife, at the Westerfield Shopping Centre, in East London. The rapper’s early release, come after he severed less than half of his sentence.

His upcoming appearance at the festival, will mark his second live appearance since he was released from prison. It comes after he made his public debut onstage with Drake at his ‘Assassination Vacation Tour’, at the O2 Arena, in London, on the 5th of April 2019. It is not known when J Hus was released from prison – but it has been suggested it could have been the same day as his appearance at Drake’s week long, O2 residency.

The rapper rose to prominence with the release of his mixtape, ‘The 15^th Day’, in 2015, which featured one of his breakthrough track, ‘Dem Boy Paigon’. Two years later, in 2017, he followed his 2015 mixtape with his debut album, ‘Common Sense’, which broke the UK top 10 and secured his biggest single to-date, ‘Did You See’.

J Hus will be making his only UK festival appearance at Lovebox, this year, and will be joining fellow headliners Chance The Rapper, Solange, Giggs, and 2 Chains. The following the names are also on the electric bill and joining the stellar headliners is Four Tet, Brockhampton, Cypress Hill, Loyle Carner, H.E.R., Action Bronson, Kaytranada, Annie Mac, Solomun, Green Velvet, Patrick Topping, Guy Gerber, Fisher, David Rodigan and The Outlook Orchestra, and FKJ.

Among the other names on this year’s impressive bill for Lovebox 2019 is Lizzo; Slowthai; Robert Hood presents Floorplan (Live); Charlotte de Witte; Krystal Klear; Jayda G; Ross From Friends; Children of Zeus; Places+Faces Takeover ft Plus Sounds, Buddy; Suspect and more; Cupcakke; Adriatique; Mason Maynard; Patrice Baumel; Paul Johnson; Tion Wayne; Kettama; Prospa; Alex Virgo; Eli Brown; VanJess; Big Miz; and Sally C.

Since its creation in 2002, Lovebox has developed a reputation for attracting some of today’s biggest and hottest names in the industry, with the current line-up no different. Featuring some of the biggest names today such as Chance The Rapper, Brockhampton, as well as some of today’s hottest rising stars like Lizzo and Slowthai.

The Dublin festival returns this year, to Marlay Park, taking place from the 5th of July to the 7th of July 2019. The weekend will see A$AP Rocky headlining Friday’s show, with Chance The Rapper headlining on the Saturday, and Cardi B headlining on Sunday, the festivals final day.

The announcement see another 12 names added to an already impressive line-up. Joining Cardi B will be Anne-Marie, Vince Staples, Gunna, Trippie Reed, Flatbush Zombies, AJ Tracey, JPEGMAFIA, J.I.D, Jimothy, H.E.R, and Joey Purp.

The confirmation of Cardi B’s appearance comes shortly after her return to London was announced – where she’ll headline Wireless Festival, two days before her Longitude appearance. Weekend tickets, for the Longitude festival will go on sale from this Friday (February 1), starting at €199.50.

The first series of acts have been announced with ASAP Rocky and Chance the Rapper leading the line-up announcement. Among the other acts to be announced are Future, Brockhampton, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Uzi Vert, Juice WRLD, Versatile, Aminé, and Denzel Curry. Other artists included in the announcement are $uicideboy$, Lil Baby, Sheck Wes, Clairo, Slowthai, and Flohio.

Luckily enough tickets for the festival will go on sale before the 2019 VAT increase is put in place, as tickets will go on sale this Friday (7 December) at 10 am, allowing fans to enjoy the 2018 prices. There is said to be a limited amount of weekend tickets priced at €189.50. Tickets will be available for purchase via Ticketmaster.

Excitement levels remain high as tensions rise regarding the performances. Fans are looking forward to see what Future and Juice WRLD have to offer after releasing a joint album mid-October, titled ‘World On Drugs’. Flohio is a female which we should keep a lookout for, despite being at the beginning of her career, she is making bigger moves than the majority of the artists that are out right now.

Longitude is well-known for its immaculate hip-hop lineups each year. The 2018 line up included the likes of Migos, Travis Scott, Solange, and J-Cole. The year before Dublin welcomed Skepta and Mac Miller to their stage. Whether or not this year’s line up will be as strong is yet to be revealed, however, as it stands right now the 2019 line up is a strong contender.

The full line-up alongside the day tickets will become available at the start of the new year.

With production from Nate Fox and TrapMoneyBenney and an upbeat, keyboard-driven backing, the song serves as a celebration of the Chicago scene, which is known for its rich culture of collaboration and socially-charged lyricism. In the verses, Reeseynem delivers an ironic, self-referential take on the pressures of the rap business, with Chance giving some jaunty interjections at the end of each line.

In his verse, Chance offers a charmingly immodest take on his gym schedule and commercial success, along with a couple of eccentric references to Batman comics.

Chance hinted at the single earlier this week on his Instagram page. The post gives a snippet of an upcoming music video, with he and Reeseynem dancing and rapping to a crowd of admirers.

‘What’s The Hook?’ comes after Chance’s release of four new singles back in July: ‘65th & Ingleside‘, ‘Work Out‘, ‘I Might Need Security‘ and ‘Wala Cam‘. The singles were a consolation to fans after he failed to deliver his much-anticipated new album, which was due for release that month.

Joining Chance at the event, is Pusha T and Jorja Smith, which will take place at the O2 in London on Saturday the 22^nd of September.

Speaking about the event, 1Xtra’s A.Dot, said: “It’s that time again! 1Xtra are hitting the road for another unmissable night of music and I’m so glad that we’ll be bringing the show to London this year.  Every single year 1Xtra Live is the party that everyone wants to be at so grab your tickets early. It’s gonna be massive.”

Tickets for the event will go on sale at 6pm on Monday the 30^th of July, and will cost between £23.50 and £28, including booking fees. Ticketing information can be found here.

Doors for the event will open at 6.00pm, with the first performance set to start at 7.30pm. The event is also set to be broadcasted on BBC 1Xtra.

Featuring on the bill, along with Chance the Rapper, Pusha T and Jorja Smith, is Chip, Ella Mai, MIST, Mr Eazi, and Yxng Bane.

Chance the Rapper is widely viewed as one of the most thrilling rappers on the scene today. His last mixtape, ‘Colouring Book’, was released in 2016 and featured on the 2018 Cardi B song ‘Best Life’.

Meanwhile, fellow performer Jorja Smith has been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, for her debut album ‘Lost & Found’.

Speaking about the event, Jorja Smith could not contain her excitement, and has told audiences to “expect some magic.”

BBC Radio 1Xtra Live is known for providing audiences with a bill packed full of current and emerging talent. Last year’s 1Xtra Live, in Manchester, was headlined by Travis Scott, Bryson Tiller, and Stefflon Don, with French Montana making a surprise appearance.

Other acts, over the years, have included Stormzy in 2015, Mary J.Blige in 2014, and Rita Ora in 2012. The first ever BBC Radio 1Xtra Live event, was in 2008, featured Craig David.

Enjoying a career high year, Gambino- real name Donald Glover (like you didn’t know)- announces this date off the back of playing Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and the release of the second series of Atlanta, which he created, and writes with his brother Stephen.

Glover also surprised fans with the release of new track- and potential record of the year- ‘This is America’, accompanied with a video that generated as much interest as the song itself. Following the release of the track, Glover admitted to deliberately avoiding online reaction and analysis, telling Jimmy Kimmel “Some friends have sent a couple [of the pieces], but, for real, I haven’t been on the Internet since [it came out]

“It’s bad for me. I’m really sensitive. I see one negative thing, and I track that person down. I go to their Instagram and be like, ‘You’re not so great. That baby’s not even that cute!”

Despite the announcement of this date, it has long been speculated that Glover may be looking to retire the Childish Gambino musical persona, with one final album to come following 2016’s Awaken, My Love!. Glover told The Huffington Post “There’s nothing worse than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?’ You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”

In addition to this, the ubiquitous Glover is also rumoured to be working on a collaborative project with Chicago star Chance the Rapper, with Chance confirming in March that he and Glover “perpetuated that rumour for a long time without recording anything. We did link up in Atlanta and record some tracks and… they’re amazing.”

The MC won awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album, finding success in three of the seven awards he was nominated for. Chance also performed at the ceremony in LA, playing a medley of songs from his highly acclaimed third mixtape Coloring Book. Backed by a full gospel choir, Chance played the tracks  ‘How Great’, ‘All We Got’, as well as snippets of ‘Blessings’ and hit single ‘No Problem.

Chance gave an impassioned speech upon receiving the award for Best New Artist, “I claim this victory in the name of the lord. I thank God for my mother and my father who have supported me since I was young,” Chance said. “And for all of Chicago.”

Elsewhere at the Grammys, Daft Punk performed a duet with The Weeknd, playing their song ‘I Feel it Coming’. Tributes were also paid to fallen artists, with Bruno Mars saluting Prince, purple suit and all, whilst Adele insisting on restarting her emotional dedication to George Michael, saying “I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for him.’

There were also a spate of performances taking a stand against President Trump, in the shape of Katy Perry’s rendition of her new song ‘Chained to the Rhythm, whilst Busta Rhymes raised a few eyebrows when referring to Trump as ” President Agent Orange” during his performance with A Tribe Called Quest.

The rapper’s promoters, MCD, issued the following statement:

‘It is with regret that Chance the Rapper has to cancel the remainder of his European tour due to personal reasons. These are 2 shows at the Helix in Dublin and 1 show at the Apollo in Manchester. He sends his apologies for this and looks forward to returning to Europe in 2017. Refunds are available from point of purchase.’

This comes just a day after Kanye West cancelled the remainder of his tour following an on-stage ‘rant.’ Chance himself reached out to Kanye, per Refinery29, using his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge appearance to offer a prayer for Kanye, saying, ‘I want to extend a very special prayer to my big brother, Kanye West. I know there’s a lot of weird folks out there but you already know that I’m a hundred grand. I want to just extend this prayer and this love from all the way in Britain. Kanye and Chance have previously hinted at making an album together, tentatively entitled Good Ass Job. Chance said of the album, per Complex, ‘The Good Ass Job, that’s something that’s just been a dream for me. I just, I cannot wait to, you know, really just bunker down. We definitely have at least two songs I could say I know would be on Good Ass Job, but to be, you know, back in the bunker and be at the spot and have that time to just sit and make stuff everyday is my dream.’ However, he also added, ‘It’s definitely far from done. It’s something that gets brought up in conversation every once in a while.’

Given the links between two men, the proximity of the cancellations and Chance’s statement that, ‘we might come home early to see this man,’ some outlets have speculated on the link between Chance’s cancellations and Kanye West’s current problems. There is no concrete evidence that the two events are connected, however.

This is not the first time Chance has cancelled shows after pulling out of a Coachella set in 2014 and a New York charity event after he was forced to attend hospital on both occasions, per Billboard.

The Magnificent Coloriing World Tour has already completed its US dates as well as some dates in the UK, and has been well received so far. It included a particularly outstanding show at Cellular One Field in Chicago when Chance was joined on the bill by artists including, Skrillex, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, John Legend, Lil Uzi Vert, Common, Alicia Keys, Tyler, the Creator and Kanye West. The rapper is still due to perform dates in New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii in January. There is, as yet, no news as to whether these shows will be affected.

Ocean- who caught the eye by turning up to the dinner wearing black and white checkerboard print Vans- brought along his mother, Katonya Breaux, who excitedly tweeted during the evening “I am so blessed to have a son that includes me in his once in a lifetime events!!! I just hugged our First Lady!!!!”

Chance, meanwhile, brought along his father, Ken Bennett, who was previously an aide to the former mayor of Chicago Harold Washington, where he also worked with the then-senator Obama. Chance tweeted prior to the event to thank his father for raising him so well, to the point that they could enjoy such an evening.

Chance also spoke to reporters about the thing he was looking forward to most about the State Dinner: namely to conitnue the “Recurring dance battle that me and the President have had going on for a few years.”

When questioned further about the current winner of the battle, Chance confidently that he was”very high in the polls […] I’m just a great dancer. I have the fit, I have the build, I take it very seriously.”

Having released his second studio album Overgrown to critical acclaim earlier this year, Blake has not rested on his laurels as he has toured as much as humanely possible, taking in tours of the UK as well as numerous festival appearances around Europe, including Latitude Festival and the Electronic Beats Festival in Cologne, Germany. He is currently touring the US with support from Warpaint and Nosaj Thing, and is set to finish up with performances in Mexico and Japan, asserting him globetrotter status for the year.

The Life Round Here video takes Blake and Chance on a little trip throughout the Hertfordshire countryside, in a lowrider, surrounded by Somalian pirates and stallions. All in black and white. Might sound slightly obscure, but that is what Nabil, director of the video, wanted to create. “I love juxtapositions, so I thought I’d bring an old school lowrider to the countryside in England, and bring the two together in a way that makes people question things.” The video captures precisely what Nabil wanted, with Blake’s eerie electronic work mixing with Chance’s effortless flow creating something that will leave you both scratching your head and wanting more.
