With production from Nate Fox and TrapMoneyBenney and an upbeat, keyboard-driven backing, the song serves as a celebration of the Chicago scene, which is known for its rich culture of collaboration and socially-charged lyricism. In the verses, Reeseynem delivers an ironic, self-referential take on the pressures of the rap business, with Chance giving some jaunty interjections at the end of each line.

Chance hinted at the single earlier this week on his Instagram page. The post gives a snippet of an upcoming music video, with he and Reeseynem dancing and rapping to a crowd of admirers.

‘What’s The Hook?’ comes after Chance’s release of four new singles back in July: ‘65th & Ingleside‘, ‘Work Out‘, ‘I Might Need Security‘ and ‘Wala Cam‘. The singles were a consolation to fans after he failed to deliver his much-anticipated new album, which was due for release that month.
