The 80-year-old was recently put on vocal rest which forced him to move his residency concert at The Colosseum, Las Vegas to June 10th. Sir Stewart announced the news via an Instagram story which read: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date.” Last month, Rod was seen with a sign around his neck informing anyone he came into contact with that he could not speak after his concert at Milan’s Unipol Forum. It read: “Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest.”

The iconic artist is set to perform on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage later this month, in the coveted legends slot. He will be joined by former bandmate Ronnie Wood on June 29th. Talking with The Telegraph, he said: “After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there!”

The English singer returned to the stage a few days after cancelling his Vegas show at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal and reassured fans by confirming he had no plans to retire. He wrote to Instagram: “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love.”I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not…”

After Glastonbury, the ‘Maggie May’ singer-songwriter will be travelling the U.S. for his One Last Time tour in July and August.

Tickets are now available via Ticketmaster.

Irish band Fontaines D.C have had to cancel a string of concerts of their tour’s South American branch due to lead singer Grian Chatten needing urgent medical attention. The ‘Romance’ writers were set to play in Mexico City as well as the Lollapalooza festival in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia this week but were forced to pull the plug due to the frontman suffering from a herniated disc.

The band shared a statement on their Instagram Story that said: “I am devastated to announce that, due to a herniated disc, we must cancel our show in Mexico tomorrow night and our forthcoming dates in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. I have been really excited to play these beautiful countries for years and it really hurts to be here in Mexico City and not be able to go onstage, but I have been advised today, that I require urgent medical attention. We are very grateful for all your support and, with all my heart, I am sorry that I can’t play for you.”

At the time of writing, it appeared the shows have been cancelled with no further information as to whether they would be rescheduled later on or not.

— Korno Espinosa (@korno) March 18, 2025

The band recently finished the leg of their tour in countries such as Japan, Australia and New Zealand and are due to hit the North American roads with their show in Mid-April. It is unclear in this moment whether Grian’s injury will also affect those dates.

The band released their album ‘Romance’, <del></del>an album that peaked at number 2 on the release charts and that was been wildly acclaimed last year and surprised fans last month with a brand new song called ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’, a song inspired by guitarist Carlos O’Connell’s new born. Bass player Conor Deegan said in a chat with NME: “That gave the track the feel of a “lullaby or a music box”. The feeling of hope a child can give is profound and moving, especially for young men like us. That sense of wanting to create a world for them to grow up in happily. It’s a feeling that fights against the cynicism that can often overtake us in the modern world. So we wanted to declare which side we were on — it really is amazing to be young. It was really heartwarming. Sometimes as people we can be a bit cynical. The world around us can make you that way if you’re paying attention it.”

The song, which features a video clip directed by Luna Carmoon, was written for the band’s last album ‘Romance’, but Conor explained it didn’t make the final track listing.

The 1975 paid tribute to Lewis Capaldi during their set as they filled in for him at Reading 2023.

The 1975 took over Lewis Capaldi’s headlining slot after Capaldi announced that he’d be taking a break from performing to prioritise his health. Capaldi has faced struggles with Tourette’s syndrome, leading him to cancel multiple performances as he learns to live with his condition.

During The 1975’s Reading set, frontman Matty Healy addressed the crowd, saying “Well, first of all can we have the loudest round of applause in our set for Mr Lewis Capaldi who couldn’t make it tonight.”

Matty Healy had previously touched on his friendship with Capaldi during the band’s headlining performance at Finsbury Park, saying, “I want to send my sincerest thoughts to Lewis Capaldi who is a dear friend of mine, who on the day when he had to cancel his tour, checked in on me. And it’s also a reflection on how hard being a solo artist is as I would not be doing this show if I didn’t have these amazing men and women behind me.”

The 1975 used the opportunity to play an anniversary show to mark 10 years since their self-titled debut album was released. The band played the album in full, playing throwback crowd-pleasers including “Sex,” “Chocolate” and “Robbers.”

The performance was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews, as fans basked in the nostalgia of hearing the debut album performed a decade on. One fan described the atmosphere as being “like one big family” as well as being “insane and incredible.”

The band also went on the play newer tracks including “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You),” “Happiness” and “I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)” to satisfy fans of their later albums.

Under doctor’s orders, electro punk band The Prodigy have been forced to pull out of two headline festival performances this weekend, including Dreambeach in Spain and Winchester’s Boomtown Festival.

In a social media announcement, the group apologised for the cancellation, explaining that singer Maxim is recovering from a “temporary back injury” – a setback which gives them no other choice but to call off their next couple of live shows.

The official statement adds: “This isn’t a decision the band take lightly and they apologise to all fans who are travelling to these shows. We will update everyone on his progress and future shows as soon as possible.”

The Essex rave rockers were due to take to the stage at Dreambeach Festival in Spain on 11 August, before travelling to Winchester on 13 August for their first performance in the city since 1992. In their own statement, Boomtown Fair wrote:

“There is no easy way to say this. We have just been made aware The Prodigy can no longer play at Boomtown 2023. […] We and the band are gutted and know you will be feeling the same. We are now working hard to bring this iconic band to Grand Central next year at Boomtown 2024. Until then we send Maxim our love and wish him a smooth recovery.”

Electronic duo Chase & Status have now been slated for headline replacement.

The last-minute withdrawal brings unfortunate news for Prodigy fans, many of whom would have been happy to have secured tickets to see a band that has, in recent years, spent less time on the road. The tragic passing of former member Keith Flint in 2019 coupled with the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a three-year touring hiatus, with the group finally returning to the stage in mid-2022.

Earlier this year, The Prodigy released a four-track remix EP in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking third studio album, The Fat Of The Land. Upon its original release in 1997, the now-iconic LP – which contains hits such as “Firestarter” and “Breathe” – quickly topped charts worldwide, and has sold over 10 million copies to date.

Last Thursday night (December 16th) several people were injured at a crowd stampede during a concert by Nigerian Afrobeat singer Asake at the O2 Academy, Brixton. Four of the victims were hospitalized with critical injuries after the incident, one of whom has since died in hospital.

The crush occurred after a large group of fans outside the venue attempted to force their way into the Academy, with the show going on to be cancelled.

A total of eight people were removed from the scene by ambulance with crush-related injuries, with two others being treated at the scene.

Police were called to the venue at around 9:30pm on the night of the 16th, after reports that large numbers of people were gathered outside the venue, which normally has a capacity of around 5,000 people, and were attempting to force entry into the show. Scenes outside the venue were heated, with some witnesses estimating that up to 1,000 people had gathered without tickets outside the doors, clashing with security and police, adn even trying to force their way through locked doors.

The concert was called off within just ten minutes of it having started, with Asake telling the crowd, “They said outside is fucked up already, so we have to end the show. I don’t know why. It’s not me.”

A further announcement from the team on stage went on to tell the crowd that the situation outside had become severe, with an estimated 3, 000 people attempting to enter the building. The announcement was followed by booing from the crowd.

After the crush, Asake took to his Instagram with this message: “My heart is with those who were injured last night and caused any form of discomfort. I pray you get well soonest. I am also in the process of reaching out to individuals. I still do not have the full brief from the venue management themselves as to what led to the disruption at the entrance of The Brixton Academy, but we are thankful that all was peaceful in the end. For my people who enjoyed the beginning of my performance, I am sorry that it was cut short. Thank you for your unbelievable love London. I love you too much! I’m looking forward to seeing you again in a bit!”

Solomon Smith, who was present at the show, took to twitter to share his feelings:

Not Asake’s fault at all, it was more people who didn’t have tickets turned up with fake tickets… #Asake #Brixton pic.twitter.com/dxDzfCEUY7

The tragic event comes after the release of the Lagos musician’s debut album, Mr Money with the Vibe, in early September this year. Since the release, the album has climbed to become the highest charting debut Nigerian album of all time on the Billboard 200 list, making it to No. 66 in September.

Following the death of one of the victims of Thursday night’s crush, a 33-year-old east London woman who was taken to hospital following the show, Asake is said to be “devastated”, saying on his Instagram, “I am overwhelmed with grief and could never have imagined anything like this happening”.

Police and the venue management are currently working together on a debrief as to why the situation escalated with such tragic consequences.
