British metal band Bury Tomorrow have today announced that their seventh studio album will be dropping in March next year. Formed in 2006, The Southampton rockers will be hoping to follow up on the success of their 2020 album Cannibal and their 2018 album Black Flame which became their third consecutive UK Top 40 album. The new album will be released on March 31st 2023 via Music For Nations and is aptly titled The Seventh Sun. The release will be available on standard CD and LP alongside a limited and exclusive deluxe LP, deluxe CD, cassette and picture disc which contain bonus artwork and booklet material. The band are also offering fans exclusive album pre-order merchandise available, and a limited run of signed prints. To give fans a taste of what is to come they dropped their “furious” new single, ‘Abandon Us’ today (6th October). ‘Abandon Us’ has already been described by Rocksound as “an all-consuming, atmospheric piece of modern metalcore brilliance.”

“We are proud to present, The Seventh Sun.” the band said in a statement on their website, “It is an understatement to say we are excited to share the new era of Bury Tomorrow with you all and the first single from the album, Abandon Us, is the perfect way to showcase our intent for the next phase of our band. Visceral and heavy, this track is for each and every one of you that has stood by us either from the beginning, or supported us along the way.” The single has been released alongside a horror-inspired music video directed by Matt Sears. “Taken from a time of loss, uncertainty and insecurity, the intent was to create a heavy track that mirrored these feelings. The lyrics highlight the frustration and anger at the current state of our society and how our so-called leaders seem intent on satisfying self-interest above the collective needs of humanity.” they said, “the video was created in collaboration with director Matt Sears to provide a further commentary on these themes, in the guise of a horror-inspired short film.” You can listen to the new song and watch their video below.

Southampton metalcore outfit Bury Tomorrow shared a brand new video for ‘The Grey (VIXI)‘ with exclusive live footage from their Black Flame Tour in December last year. The single originally came out in November 2019 as the very first single of their latest record Cannibal that was later released in April this year to huge success and predominantly positive reception from fans and critics alike. The original track premiere was accompanied by an official video, the first of three from the album alongside ‘Cannibal‘ and ‘Better Bellow‘.

In the absence of live events in 2020 and approaching the end of the chaotic year, this is as close as we are going to get to seeing Bury Tomorrow live soon, so the band premiered the video with the following uplifting message: “To end the year on a positive we wanted to share some of our best moments during the Black Flame tour, to remind us all how amazing the connection is, and to let you all know that we’re still here! Respect and love to all who listen.”

The new live video for ‘The Grey (VIXI)‘ was directed by Swedish videographer John Gyllhamn, having previously worked with the likes of Crystal Lake and Adept, as well as the main photographer during Bury Tomorrow’s Black Flame Tour. The concert run back in December 2019 covered seven shows in Portsmouth, Nottingham, Cardiff, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and London’s Roundhouse, and saw the band perform their previous record Black Flame in full. The album came out in July 2019 and was their first after signing for Sony’s renowned rock and metal labels Music For Nations, reaching #21 at the UK Albums Chart and #13 at the US Heatseekers Chart.

Its follow-up Cannibal was released earlier this year in July with slight delay due to the initial COVID-19 crisis. Without being able to tour in support for their sixth record, Bury Tomorrow still achieved their highest chart performance reaching #10 in the UK and naturally topping the UK Rock & Metal Chart at the time. A monumental and very personal project, Cannibal took the metalcore quintet a step further and received very positive reviews from all major media outlets.

The album easily made it to Top 20 of most Metal Hammer’s writers’ rankings and was also featured as one of Kerrang!’s 50 Greatest Albums of 2020 with the following statement: “Cannibal’s relentless energy and soaring melodies were classic Bury Tomorrow. It was altogether a bulkier, sharper, stronger beast – the mark of a band that continues to improve.” With ‘The Grey (VIXI)‘ easily being one of the most emotional and personal tracks of the record, the new video shows Bury Tomorrow at their very best – close to their fans in those iconic intimate gigs we all miss so much already.

If the situation in the UK returns to normal soon, there will be plenty of chances to see Bury Tomorrow live in 2021. After briefly touring Germany in April, the band is returning to England for their four rescheduled gigs in May. Just a few days later, the metalcore heavyweights are set to perform as one of the main support acts at the Slam Dunk Festival 2021 on 29 May in Leeds and 30 May in Hatfield Park, alongside While She Sleeps, NOFX, Billy Talent, State Champs and headliners Sum 41 and Don Broco.

Later in 2021, Bury Tomorrow are teaming up with August Burns Red, Miss May I and Thornhill for what is shaping to be “one of the best metalcore tours” of the year. The Winter Tour will cover a total of 11 dates in the UK between 12th and 25th of November with tickets still available here.

Bury Tomorrow uploaded a brand new video ‘How Cannibal Was Written‘ discussing the composing and recording process behind the band’s latest top 10 album that came out on 3 July through Music For Nations. Prevented from touring in support of the release, the Southampton metalcore quintet have spent recent months announcing rescheduled UK shows and dates for massive co-headline tour with August Burns Red for 2021, and are offering an insight on how their recent record came to be the successful and cohesive project fans have been obsessively listening to for the past few months.

The new video presents an honest half-hour discussion between frontman Daniel Winter-Bates (vocals), Jason Cameron (rhythm guitar, clean vocals) and Kristan Dawson (lead guitar). Without being a traditional documentary with special production and editing, the video offers an intimate conversation between the band’s member on Cannibal‘s main lyrical theme, song structures, writing process, influences and Bury Tomorrow’s growth and maturity.

Some of the songs on Cannibal have been in early phases already after the release of their previous record Black Flame in 2018 with Winter-Bates and Dawson having worked on them for quite some time before Cameron joining in the writing process. The musicians highlight their trust and confidence in themselves as the main advantage when starting their sixth project, and the reason it came out with such cohesive and organic result.

Jason Cameron discusses how the writing usually started with one simple main riff that would have been re-arranged around the song, embellished and developped throughout each composition to reach the final version of the recording. He goes on to state that for Bury Tomorrow the main goal now is to stand the test of time and be around for at least 20 years if they could only carry on performing and touring as they have been until their explosive debut from 2009.

The main part of the video revolves around Daniel Winter-Bates’ personal issues defining the overall theme of Cannibal and the band’s support in both his recovering process and writing the musical translation of his lyrics. In an interview for Madness to Creation from March, the singer says: “It’s an extremely personal album for me so the challenge was revisitting some of the darkest moments in my life and singing about them.”

The band members go on to discuss how the decision for maintaining the overall lyrical content was straightforward and organic as it came from an honest place and was obvious from the very beginning. The writing process then helped translate it emotionally and musically with a juxtaposition of melody and heaviness, signature for Bury Tomorrow’s own brand of metalcore and apparent throughout the entire record.

Recently, Bury Tomorrow published limited edition lyric prints on the band’s online store shown below. Cannibal is available now on standard CD and vinyl, as well as the usual streaming platforms.

Our lyric prints are limited at 200 each! Get yours now at https://t.co/8kG4jfWq57 pic.twitter.com/B6sxFRN0Iz

Earlier this week Bury Tomorrow announced a massive co-headline tour with US metalcore heavyweights August Burns Red, hitting UK in November 2021 and continuing in Europe throughout December. Joining them on all dates are Miss May I and rising Australian metalcore outfit Thornhill. The four bands are going to kickstar the UK part of the tour on 12 November 2021 in Brighton and will leave England with a double show at London’s Electric Ballroom and 25 and 26 November 2021.

The exciting news come only a week after Bury Tomorrow shared the first four rescheduled UK shows for May next year. As part of their European Tour at the end of 2021, the mammoth of a line-up is sure to bring a storm across Europe, starting in England and continuing in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia before concluding the thirty-day metalcore feast in Germany in late December.

Pensylvannia’s finest August Burns Red have been building their reputation as one of the most influential bands in the international metalcore scene since their inception in 2003. With eight official studio albums and one special Christmas record, the band have become a symbol of compositional consistentcy, hard-working attitude, immaculate performing technique and well-balanced progressive influences. Their latest album Defender came in April this year via Fearless Records to predominantly positive reviews from critics and fans.

Miss May I will return to the UK more than three year since the last visit in support of their latest record Shadows Inside, released through SharpTone Records in 2017. The band hold reputation as one of Ohio’s melodic metalcore champions, known for a more traditional and conservative approach to the genre in a time of widespread experimentation. With a significantly more progressive attitude and electronic influences, Thornhill are rapidly becoming Australia’s favourite rising metal outfit and UNFD’s secret weapon for the future. The Melbourne-based act released their debut record The Dark Pool only last year and are quickly becoming an exciting altirnative-driven heavy act to follow.

Earlier in July, Bury Tomorrow dropped their sixth studio album Cannibal via Music For Nations. The album received a predominantly positive reaction for critics and fans, and landed the band’s highest ever chart performance peaking at #10 in the Official UK Albums Chart. While it did not surprise with new directions and bold experiments, the album followed their signature blend of heavy riffs, merciless breakdowns and melodic choruses, and further polished their composition and production.

So far Bury Tomorrow have released five official singles from the record, including the title track ‘Cannibal‘, ‘The Grey’ (VIXI)’, ‘Choke‘, ‘Better Below‘ and most recently ‘Gods & Machines‘. In addition, three performance music video premiered in support of the record, including the first two singles and followed by ‘Better Below‘ from April 2020, available to watch below.
