Ed Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon are set to release a re-working of the hit single “Bad Habits”. The unlikely pairing’s track will be released on 18th February 2022. The rock-influenced rendition of the track was premiered at last week’s BRIT Awards, and due to the positive reactions sired by the performance Sheeran and the band have recorded their collaboration.

The new version incorporates a heavier sound featuring screamed vocals courtesy of frontman Oli Sykes, whilst retaining the hit single’s pop hooks. The single was originally released on 25th June 2021 and spent numerous weeks as the UK number-one single. “Bad Habits” has experienced a remix before this year’s Brits award, on 12th August 2021 Fumez the Engineer released a UK drill mix featuring British rappers Tion Wayne and Central Cee.

Bring me the Horizon posted the FaceTime call with Sheeran which led to the recording and release of their Brit collaboration. Within the call, the “Shape of You” singer described the Brits performance, “That show was nuts“, Sykes replied, “I’ve never had so much adrenaline pumping through me.”. The 35-year-old singer then stated, “There are so many people asking for like a studio version.”, Sheeran replied, “We have to get one out”.

Sheeran has expressed interest in working together with Bring Me the Horizon in the past, having spoken with the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column concerning the new partnership, “We’re going to write a song together… Playing with Bring Me The Horizon was a dream. I got in touch with [singer Oli Sykes] and we were going to write together but then the pandemic happened, so we were in touch – I’ve been a fan for a long time. Oddly enough that’s the kind of music I grew up listening to and had a Kerrang subscription and I listened to it constantly.”

He continued to state how the group improved the live performance of the track, “I actually said ‘Bad Habits’ would be a bit of a wet fart if I was just going up there and playing it normally. The song is EDM and they’ve taken it and make it a whole new thing. I was just like, you know what, these guitars are going to be great. It was a week’s turnaround – we emailed each other two weeks ago, recorded it a week ago and rehearsed it three days ago.”

This is not the first time in which Sheeran’s pop sound has generated interest from heavier genres of music. Last year, Cradle of Filth bandmember Dani Filth confirmed that he had contacted Sheeran via social media intending to record a charity single together. Filth discussed the interaction, “I’ve actually been emailing with him. He actually touched base with me. I’ve been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don’t own my own bar or village, and it’d be better if I went there. He said he’d do anything. Quite literally. He said he’s a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually.”

Sheeran and Bring me the Horizon’s upcoming pop-rock mash-up of “Bad Habits” is now available to pre-save across all major streaming platforms.

The annual BRIT Awards took place two days ago (February 8th) showcasing and celebrating a wide roster of the UK’s stunning musical talent, much of which has emerged within the last couple of years. The ceremony featured performances from Ed Sheeran, Bring Me The Horizon, Adele, Little Simz, Dave and Anne-Marie.

The long-standing awards show was hosted by Mo the Comedian (aka. Mo Gilligan), marking the occasion as the first black British host of the show since its inception in 1977. The show saw Adele take home three awards; Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Easy On Me” and Album of the Year for 30, and also saw the iconic singer deliver a performance of the piano driven tune “I Drink Wine”, which you can view down below.

The ceremony had no shortage of grandiose, explosive performances, perhaps most notably Ed Sheeran’s unlikely collaboration with UK rock/metalcore act Bring Me The Horizon, performing a considerably more rock oriented rendition of Sheeran’s recent tune “Bad Habits”. The performance saw Sheeran toting an electric guitar in place of his usual parlour sized acoustic guitar, sharing the lead vocal spot with Bring Me The Horizon singer Oli Sykes and busting out a short but bombastic metalcore breakdown at the end, with Sykes screaming out “My bad habits lead to you”.

Geordie rocker Sam Fender, who took home the award for Best Rock/Alternative Act, gave a performance of his debut album’s titular track “Seventeen Going Under”, and Little Simz, who claimed the award for Best New Artist given her stunning debut Sometimes I Might Be Introvert performed her songs “Introvert” and “Woman”. Anne-Marie was joined by KSI for the song “Don’t Play” which saw the singer suffer an unfortunate fall down the steps of the onstage set during the song, thankfully recovering in time and still delivering a stellar performance. One of the more electrifying performances of the ceremony was that of rapper Dave, who took the stage by storm with “In The Fire”, featuring Giggs, Ghetts, Meekz and Fredo, as well as performing a guitar solo towards the end of the song.

At last night’s BRIT Awards, which featured performances from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Adele, Dave, Sam Fender and Little Simz, legendary British singer-songwriter and former Oasis member Liam Gallagher performed his new single “Everything’s Electric” for the first time. The song is taken from his upcoming full-length album C’MON YOU KNOW, which will be released on May 27th. You can listen to the studio version of “Everything’s Electric” here, and you can pre-order C’MON YOU KNOW at this link. See Gallagher’s explosive performance of the song below.

“Everything’s Electric”, which was co-written with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl (who can be heard playing drums on the track), was released on February 4th, and provides quite an introduction to the sound of Gallagher’s upcoming solo album. The song is raucous and energetic, and if the singer’s BRITs performance is anything to go by, it’s a tune that’s absolutely made to blow the roof off of a stadium. It wastes no time introducing itself, commencing with a gritty guitar riff that is then carried on the shoulders of a swaggering drumbeat, making for a very Rolling Stones-esque vibe. Over the top of the buzzing instrumental, Gallagher’s familiar voice soars as he sings; “It’s hard to take it easy, underneath the red sun, everything’s electric”. The song has been largely well-received by both fans and critics, with NME awarding it a glowing five star rating.

C’MON YOU KNOW will be the singer’s third album, following on from 2019’s Why Me? Why Not. And 2017’s As You Were. Physical copies of the album will also be available for pre-order on top of the digital release, including CD, vinyl and cassette tape, in addition to some bundles, which feature a 20-page hardcover book and an art print of the C’MON YOU KNOW cover, which depicts Gallagher surrounded by a crowd of fans.

Later this year, Gallagher will be playing two sold out shows at Knebworth, where Oasis famously performed on the 9th and 10th of August 1996, to around 250,000 people. The singer is slated to perform on June 3rd and 4th, and will be supported by Kasabian, Michael Kiwanuka, Fat White Family and Goat Girl. Gallagher will also be playing some additional UK shows in Manchester, Belfast and Glasgow. You can view the dates down below, and you can find any remaining tickets here.
