Brighton Pride, widely recognized as one of the UK’s most significant LGBTQ+ festivals, attracts thousands of attendees each year. Known for its colourful parades, inclusive atmosphere, and world-class musical performances, the festival has previously hosted stars such as Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, and Christina Aguilera. Mariah Carey’s upcoming performance is expected to draw massive crowds eager to see the five-time Grammy Award winner bring her powerful vocals and chart-topping hits to the stage.

With a career spanning over three decades, Mariah Carey remains one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide, with iconic hits such as ‘Fantasy‘, ‘We Belong Together‘, and her everlasting holiday favourite, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You‘. Beyond her music, Carey has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, frequently voicing her support for the community and receiving the GLAAD Ally Award for her contributions in 2016.
Brighton Pride is set to take place from August 1-3, 2025, featuring a variety of events, including the iconic Pride Parade, the Pride Village Party, and the We Are Fabuloso concert in Preston Park, where Carey will be headlining. The festival’s theme for 2025 will center around love, unity, and resilience, reinforcing its mission to promote equality and inclusion.

Tickets for Brighton Pride 2025 go on sale on February 20, 2025, with high demand expected due to Carey’s star power. Fans and festival-goers are encouraged to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment. The full lineup for Brighton & Hove Pride 2025 has yet to be announced. Historically, the festival has featured a diverse range of artists and performers across multiple stages, including cabaret tents, dance tents, and community village areas. Attendees can expect a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and community.

According to reports, Charli XCX spent time in the studio earlier this year, working on one of Britney’s new songs. With the guidance and support of the iconic pop star, Charli XCX crafted a powerful and captivating track that is likely to make it onto the album. A source for the sun revealed, “Charli has a proven track record of writing clever pop songs. She collaborated with Britney earlier this year, and they have created something truly remarkable.”

This exciting collaboration comes on the heels of Britney’s recent musical ventures. Last year, she featured in a song titled “Mind Your Business” with fellow superstars will.i.am and Elton John’s “Hold Me Closer.” Notably, Britney and will.i.am previously worked together in 2012 on the hit single “Scream & Shout,” which showcased Britney singing with a distinct British accent. The dance-pop track was a massive success, selling over 3 million copies in the USA alone and reaching number one on nearly 30 charts worldwide, including the UK.

Britney’s temporary hiatus from music was due to her legal battle to be released from a controversial 13-year conservatorship, which finally came to an end in November 2021. Now, with her freedom restored, Britney is ready to reclaim her rightful place in the music industry.

Charli XCX has also made a name for herself in the music industry since signing with Asylum Records in 2010. She gained prominence with her collaboration with Icona Pop on the international hit “I Love It.” The talented singer-songwriter has worked with renowned artists such as Selena Gomez, Raye, Blondie, Gwen Stefani, and notably, Shawn Mendes.

Fans of both Britney Spears and Charli XCX can look forward to an incredible musical collaboration that is sure to captivate audiences worldwide. With their combined talent and creativity, the upcoming album is bound to be a sensational success when it hits the airwaves in 2024.

The star, who released his sophomore album last year titled Bridges, also posted a short video alongside the caption.

He said in the video: “Thank you so much to everybody who has contributed to me being able to sit here very proudly with one of these plaques to commemorate the billion streams of my version of “Dancing On My Own.”

He continued: “A massive thank you to Robyn as always, to Tiesto [producer] and to everybody who has made this song what it is. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you guys… but I am very, very proud to be sat here with this bad boy.” The singer ended the video by blowing a kiss to the camera. 

 Scott also thanked American baseball team Philadelphia Phillies for making the track their postseason anthem two years in a row. He said: “A HUGE thank you has to go to @Phillies also, for making this song their anthem two years running. It’s an honour boys and I’m incredibly grateful to the players, the club and most importantly the fans. X”

Internet personality Andrea Russett, who released music for the first time in 2020, congratulated Scott for the achievement. The star, who has more than 6 million followers on X, said: “your version of this song got me into singing and will forever hold such a special space in my heart! so so happy for you.”  

Scott, who placed sixth in Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, performed the smash hit on the show which earned him a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell. The following year, the track was released as his version and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and became Britain’s best-selling single of summer 2016.

The singer now joins an exclusive Billions Club on Spotify, a playlist that features all the songs that hit one billion on the platform. Other artists that hold this achievement include the likes of Ed Sheeran, who earned a Gold Brit Billion Award earlier this month, Harry Styles and the Princess of Pop Britney Spears – whose 2004 single “Toxic” hit over a billion earlier this year.

Stuart Price, Madonna’s musical director and long-time friend, spoke to the BBC about the celebration. He said: “A greatest hit doesn’t have to be a song. It can be a wardrobe, it can be a video, or a statement. Madonna’s reputation is for being highly precise and highly rehearsed across all departments. When you look at a tour of this scale, it has so many moving parts, so many elements, that everything has to be highly fixed.”

Price, who worked with Madonna on her 2001 Drowned World Tour, praised the star for the icon she cemented herself as. He said: “There’s one thing that’s always dynamic, and that’s Madonna herself. Her personality is so strong, her interaction with the audience is so strong, that it creates opportunities for variation from night to night.”

Madonna, who last toured in the UK for her Madame X Tour in 2020, will see the “Hung Up” singer begin the celebration this Saturday, when she performs at a sold-out show at the O2 Arena in London. The icon will also be performing in the UK on Sunday, 17 October and 18 October before heading to Belgium. However, if fans missed out on these dates, they are in luck as the star will return to the UK for two more shows in early December.

Whilst Madonna certainly has the catalogue for more than 40 hits that she could include in her setlist, here are some that fans would love to see.

“Like A Virgin” (1984)

The icon’s signature song, “Like A Virgin”, was the song that catapulted Madonna into super-stardom. The track, which has been certified Gold in the UK, took Madonna to new heights and made her a pop-culture icon.

“Into the Groove” (1985)

Madonna’s first number 1 hit in the UK, “Into the Groove” is certainly a favourite amongst fans and artists. The song, which has been sampled by the likes of Dannii Minogue, has been cited as a pop classic for its cool and experimental production.

“Express Yourself” (1989)

This dance-pop infused track with deep funk elements is another staple in Madonna’s discography. The song and video saw the icon push new ground thanks to its themes of feminism and freedom of expression.

“Erotica” (1992)

One of Madonna’s darkest and edgiest songs, “Erotica” is another gem from the Queen of Pop. Whilst the lyrics and video are most definitely racy, the track saw the icon tackle the theme of sex like never before. The song was last performed by Madonna almost a decade ago on her The MDNA Tour… here’s hoping it will make its grand return!

“Music” (2000)

A smash hit, “Music” was the lead single from her eight-studio album titled Music. The song has been a commercial success across the world, becoming certified Gold in the UK, Germany, France and Sweden.

“Me Against the Music” (2003)

A track adored by many, “Me Against the Music” saw the Queen of Pop and Pop’s princess Britney Spears go back and forth in a dynamic exchange. Fresh off the wedding bells from the iconic 2003 VMA performance, the duo delivered yet again when the stars collaborated on the hit single.

“Incredible” (2008)

Despite it not being a single,  “Incredible” is pop at its finest thanks to the production by The Neptunes. The track, from the 2008 album Hard Candy, would be a perfect choice for the star to cover.

“Girl Gone Wild” (2012)

This electropop party track is who Madonna is as an artist – daring, bold and unapologetically sexy.

After debuting on the UK singles chart at number three, “Hold Me Closer” has also secured the title of the UK’s best-selling single of the week. The hotly anticipated single’s high chart position marks Sir John’s fourth consecutive top 5 hits within a year. The “Daniel” singer has also broken the top 5 with “Cold Heart“, his duet with British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa. Last winter marked a successful festive season for Sir John; he found chart success with “Merry Christmas“, his collaboration with Ed Sheeran and 2021’s Christmas number one single “Sausage Rolls For Everyone” with Sheeran and LadBaby.

Sir John and Spears’ new release sees the two pioneering artists utilise three of Sir John’s hits to construct the song, elements from “Tiny Dancer“, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart“, and the 1992 single “The One” can be heard within the smooth mix. Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Sir John has said, “It’s such a thrill to see how well Hold Me Closer is connecting with fans” Elton John exclusively told OfficialCharts.com, “scoring my first Official Number 1 in over a decade with Cold Heart was a wonderful feeling – I thought my days of having hit singles were behind me.”

The beloved pianist continues, “But to see how much Hold Me Closer means, not only to my fans but Britney and her fans, is beyond words. The new data released from the Official Charts has confirmed further success for Sir John; his 2017 greatest hits, Diamonds, has placed at number 5 on the UK album charts and reached a landmark sales figure. The album has acquired an overall total of 1 million chart units within the UK; the data reveals that within just this week, the album has sold over 332k units both digitally and on physical formats. The newly released data also confirmed that such platforms as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music are mainly responsible for Diamonds’ high figures, the triple platinum selling album has acquired two-thirds of its total from streaming services.

Sir John has also spoken to Official Charts concerning the exciting news, “Seeing Diamonds reach a million sales in the UK is also beyond words – everything we’ve achieved in the last five years – the book, the film, my tour- has kept my songs out there for younger fans to discover and people returning to it time and time again is really humbling.“

Chief Executive of Official Charts Company, Martin Talbot, has also spoken on Diamonds’ colossal success, “The huge success of Diamonds once again highlights the massive impact that Sir Elton John continues to have on the British music market, and the love that music lovers in the UK have for him. There is no doubt that Sir Elton will forever be the nation’s Captain Fantastic.”

The Page Six source said, “This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan. They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible,”  “Britney was in the studio in Beverly Hills last week with Elton for the super-secret recording session overseen by uber-producer Andrew Watt.”

Watt won the 2021 Grammy Award for Producer of the Year and has worked with megastars like Pearl Jam, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. He also worked with Elton John on his collaboration album The Lockdown Sessions which features his hugely successful single “Cold Heart” featuring Dua Lipa.

This would be Britney’s first release since her 2016 song “Slumber Party” from her ninth studio album Glory. The song hit number one on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart and Britney met her now husband, Sam Asghari, when shooting the music video.

Spears’ private life has dominated the headlines over the last couple of years due to the battle against her conservatorship. In June of last year, Britney spoke publicly for the first time and stated, “I just want my life back.” In 2021, she posted to her Instagram telling fans “I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think.” The controversial conservatorship was terminated late last year and Britney has given few hints about returning to work.

On 15th July, the star took to social media to share two short videos to her Instagram page featuring herself singing a new rendition of her 1998 single “…Baby One More Time.” The caption reads, “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long.” She explains how she wanted to release this darker version, but she was told “no” by her team.

Page Six reports that the “appetite for Spears’ comeback is so big that she also scored “a record-breaking deal” from the label to record with John,” which could mean this is the start of an even bigger comeback. Since her debut in 1998 Britney has earned a Grammy, fifteen Guinness World Records, six MTV Video Music Awards and seven Billboard Music Awards, including the Millennium Award. 

Representatives for Spears, John or their record label are yet to comment on the report.

Spears entered the limelight at the age of eleven appearing on The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling, and Justin Timberlake. She was elevated to stardom after the release of her first single Baby One More Time at sixteen. Since then, Spears has remained in the public eye as tabloid fodder with every aspect of her personal life broadcast across the globe. Spears’ father Jamie was given conservatorship over her and her assets after the singer was involuntarily committed to a hospital psychiatric ward in 2008.

Over the years concerns for Spears have been raised over the nature of the arrangement with accusations that her father is taking advantage of the situation. Many fans believe that Spears is in danger and is being mistreated by her father. Many also believe that Spears is no longer in need of the strict conservatorship which has left her own financial and career decisions out of her control. Last year, Spears launched a legal bid to have her father removed as her conservator which a judge ruled against. The recent Hulu documentary has shed a light on many of these issues and reignited interest in the Free Britney movement.

The BBC documentary will follow BAFTA-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar as he travels from Spears’ hometown of Kentwood Louisiana to Los Angeles where he will speak to fans behind the Free Britney movement. Azhar spoke to Deadline about the making of the documentary stating:

“I went to LA in search of the truth of how Britney Spears, one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, ended up in a conservatorship. I found myself in a world of lawyers, superfans and paparazzi and spent time with many of the people who’ve had a front row seat in Britney’s life. This film taps into the energy of the #FreeBritney movement and questions the industry, fandom and the laws that facilitate conservatorships.”

The documentary is set to air this spring on BBC Two.

Robin Leach – journalist for the Las Vegas Sun – conducted a rare interview with Spears and, featured on PopCrush, she said:

“I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”

Spears’ last album – Britney Jean – was back in 2013, the same year she began her ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ residency at Las Vegas’ AXIX Auditorium at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. In 2015 her contract was extended by Planet Hollywood to 2017.

Pop diva Britney Spears showcases her greatest hits, high-end digital effects and energetic dance numbers during her two-year residency “Britney: Piece of Me” at Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip.

With constant costume and set changes, Spears performs such hits as “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “…Baby One More Time,” “Britney,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Womanizer,” “Hold It Against Me” and “Toxic.”

“Britney: Piece of Me” is staged in the Axis theater, which features a dance floor that is surrounded by walk-out areas of the stage. VIP table seating and bottle service is available for those seated closest to the stage.

The show opens with Spears inside a spherical cage, performing “Work B*tch” from her recently released album, “Britney Jean.” With 14 dancers, Spears struts from song to song, at one point performing “Everytime” suspended over the stage as a giant angel. During her performance of “Toxic,” she swings off a 20-foot tree in a jungle-themed performance.

In her performance of “Freakshow,” she brings an audience member onstage — it’s often a celebrity, such as Mario Lopez and Lance Bass — to make them crawl while she cracks a whip. Spears closes the show with “(You Drive Me) Crazy” and “Till The World Ends,” mixing in “Work B*tch” with the finale, which includes a confetti drop.

A total of 24 songs are performed in part or full during the 80 to 90 minutes of the show.

Spears’ new album will continue her extensive booming career since her second album single release of ‘Oops . . . I Did it Again’ sixteen years ago, back in 2000, which hit huge popularity and created Britney Spears into a true star.
