Kid Kapichi, the talented band from Hastings, has recently revealed exciting details about their highly anticipated upcoming album There Goes The Neighbourhood. Serving as a follow-up to their successful 2022 release Here’s What You Could Have Won, this new album is set to hit the shelves on 15th March 2024 through Spinefarm, much to the delight of their dedicated fanbase.

Jack Wilson said “I know it’s a cliche, but this really is our best work ever. We put everything into this record, but actively decided not to stray too far from the path of ‘Here’s What You Could Have Won’, as we felt there was still more ground to be covered and honed on that vibe. Lyrically and musically, it’s more concise, meaningful and deliberate, which ties everything together really well; it feels like a collection of songs from the same family.”

To give fans a taste of what’s to come, Kid Kapichi has also released their latest single “Tamagotchi”, a track that pays homage to the ’90s. The song captures the essence of the era, with its nostalgic sound and catchy melodies. Accompanying the single is a captivating music video that further enhances the ’90s vibes.

The band’s most recent song was described by frontman Jack Wilson, he said, “Tamagotchi’ is a song about turning 30 and feeling for the first time like your life is running away from you. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself being more nostalgic about the past and the ‘good times’. This song is a homage to those times and fond memories whilst stubbornly clawing onto them.”

Jack added, “Tamagotchi’ is probably one of the most fun videos we’ve ever shot, videos like these write themselves, when the imagery of the lyrics is so strong, so we didn’t mess about. We tried our best to replicate those feelings and memories we had when growing up.”

In addition to the album announcement and single release, Kid Kapichi has also confirmed an upcoming headline tour, much to the excitement of their fans. This tour will give audiences the opportunity to experience the band’s electrifying live performances and witness the new album’s songs come to life on stage. The band took to social media and said, “UK! Pre-sale for our tour starts tomorrow. Pre-order any format of ‘There Goes The Neighbourhood’ from our store to get access from 10am tomorrow morning!!”

The band added, “Speaking about that, the band added: “We are and always have been a live band. It’s exciting to release new singles, new albums and new videos, but for us, it’s always a way to just get out there and play bigger and better shows. That’s why we started playing music and it’s why we continue to do so. To be announcing our biggest headline tour of our careers to date is amazing. Playing venues like Kentish Town Forum has always been an ambition, and the fact we have the incredible fanbase that we do to make all this possible is a dream come true.”

With their unique sound and captivating energy, Kid Kapichi continues to solidify their place in the music industry. Their upcoming album promises to be a thrilling and dynamic collection of songs that showcase the band’s growth and evolution.

Robbie Williams’ recent documentary “Robbie Williams” on Netflix has sparked curiosity among viewers, particularly regarding his feud with former bandmate Gary Barlow and the current state of their relationship. As many may recall, Robbie and Gary were both members of the immensely popular ’90s pop group, Take That, hailing from Manchester.

Robbie, being the youngest and most rebellious member, joined the band at the tender age of 16, while Gary, who was positioned as the group’s leader, was a few years older at 19. In the docu-series, Robbie reflects on his time in the band and reveals a sense of rivalry between himself and Gary.

During interviews for the show, Robbie candidly expressed his dislike for Gary, primarily because he believed Gary had everything and the successful career that he himself desired. Robbie admitted to feeling vengeful and wanting to make Gary pay for his perceived advantages.

Robbie said, “I disliked Gary the most because he was the one that was supposed to have the everything, and the career. I wanted to make him pay. I was vengeful.”

Despite Robbie’s departure from Take That after just five years, which left fans devastated, the band split the following year. Robbie embarked on his solo career in 1996, initially achieving moderate success with a few singles entering the charts. However, it was his collaboration with songwriter and producer Guy Chambers, along with the release of the hit song “Angels,” that truly propelled his music career to new heights.

In the documentary featuring one of Robbie’s earlier solo performances, archive footage captures him taunting the audience and directing his hostility towards Gary. He said,“I’m sorry that I treated Gary like that. You can understand why a younger me and a younger you would bump heads, I’d be like, ‘It’s my game’, and you’d be like, ‘No, it’s my game… it’s my ball’.”

Williams revealed that he did not seek Barlow’s input during any phase of the documentary’s creation. Williams clarified that he was not obligated to do so by law. Although the two had previously discussed the concept of a biopic, Williams admitted that their conversations on the topic were awkward. Robbie said, “Legally I didn’t have to. I’ve had to have chats there, yeah, and they are uncomfortable.”

Take That appeared to have a clear leader in Gary Barlow, with all attention and management focused on him. As a youth, I couldn’t help but feel envious and resentful towards him. Robbie said “And it seemed like there was one person being managed in Take That, and it was Gary Barlow. It was all geared around him and as a young person, I would’ve been jealous of that. I suppose a lot of me resented him.”

In 2006, Take That produced a documentary about their band, during which Robbie offered a brief and apology to Gary. However, Gary appeared to have little to add, stating that he had already expressed his thoughts on the matter in previous interviews. Gary said, “I think I’ve said it all in my interviews, yeah.”

This week, artists have come together in order to help save British music. The campaign named Let The Music Play has been created in light of COVID-19 as musicians fear the UK’s live music scene is at great risk. Launching on 2nd July by UK Music and members of the UK Live Music Group, it has received endless support from artists, venues and production companies over the past 24 hours.

The campaign evolved due to a lack of indication from the government regarding music gigs and festivals taking place any time soon which has caused a huge concern for musicians across the country. Despite other countries announcing gigs going ahead, such as Malta’s Escape 2 the Island which is set to take place at the end of August, the UK have been kept in the dark. The unknown is a cause for concern as many in the industry are afraid they may lose their jobs.

Moving forward, UK Music has asked the government for 3 key things:
‘1. A clear conditional timeline for reopening venues without social distancing
2. An immediate comprehensive business and employment support package and access to finance.
3. Full VAT exemption on ticket sales.’

Big names across the country have signed an open letter as an urgent call for support to protect the 200,000 jobs which are in danger of a potential loss. Artists such as Paul McCartney, Little Mix and Kasabian took to Twitter in order to spread the #letthemusicplay campaign to their millions of followers.

In a plea to the government, Kasabian tweeted ‘The UK’s music industry contributes over £5bn to the economy and live music is its heart and soul, we’re calling on the Government to help our industry and protect jobs and the live music scene #letthemusicplay.’

Other big names in the industry also took to the platform, such as former One Direction member, Niall Horan, who created a short Twitter thread to educate his fans on the situation.

Live gigs and festivals can’t happen without incredible hardworking teams behind the scenes, but without gigs all of those people are out of jobs and the live music industry is at risk. Today, we call on the UK government to offer their support. #LetTheMusicPlay pic.twitter.com/4v2gdMSlBj

Although, it isn’t only artists who have taken to social media to spread the word as the campaign has encouraged everyone to share an image or video of the final concert they attended with #letthemusicplay on Twitter. As the campaign continues to grow, music fans across the country are patiently waiting in hope of some support from the government.

The band posted the single’s artwork to Instagram just after midnight last night along with a lengthy caption explaining the meaning behind the track. They say that ‘it’s about realising you can’t make everyone happy. and realising it’s ok to be defeated by something.’ The caption then continues by saying how they have previously experienced negative comments from press, especially lead singer David Bayley, ‘there was a review in a big publication we got early on that said i was ‘too effeminate’ because of the way I sang and that that was weak and gross. its 2020. there’s no space for that sh*t anymore.’

I’ll do another post about it tomorrow explaining more. i hope you like the song, its a special one to me. Love, Dave ps link in bio.

The single proves to be a form of backlash against those trying to bring others down and is a personal piece to the band themselves. The track is supposed to appear on their forthcoming album, Dreamland, which was set to be released on July 7. Although, this was recently pushed back by a month due to the Black Lives Matter movement.

The band feel very passionate about some of the events that have taken place and were heartbroken about the deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. They believe that releasing new music just didn’t feel right amongst everything that has happened. The band posted a long message to their fans via Instagram explaining this further.

However, along with their latest single Heat Waves, they have also released the music video for the track. Directed by Colin Read, the video follows David Bayley walking through the backstreets of London.

According to NME, Bayley said the music video is ‘a love letter to live music and the culture and togetherness surrounding it. It was filmed at the peak of the lockdown in my neighbourhood in East London by the lovely people who live around me, just using their phones.’

The music video seems to be a great success and will definitely be one to remember for the band. Watch it below:
