Sugababes, formed in 1998 of original members Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy, have been releasing pop and UK R&B hits since their debut album ‘One Touch’ in 2000. The release consisted of well known and loved bangers such as ‘Overload’, which has since amassed over 35 million streams on Spotify. Though, they are best known for the chart topping feel-good tracks ‘Push the button’ and ‘About you now’ from the album ‘Change’ which has gained iconographic status, reaching over 160 million streams and has since been covered by several notable artists including Miranda Cosgrove, Rachel Tucker and The Saw Doctors. 

The band are newly independent in their music production after undergoing difficulty claiming the rights to the Sugababes name when they reunited in 2011, briefly going by the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan (MKS). In 2019, they won the rights back to the Sugababes name and are now performing under their independent label The Orchard. 

In the run up to their latest tour, the pop trio have been teasing new music with the release of their dynamic new single ‘Jungle’ in March. The band have spoken about their thoughts on the track in an interview with NME, describing it as a “fun” introduction to their new sound. Following this, the band released another new track ‘Weeds’ on 8 April, when they embarked on the first performance of their tour in Leeds First Direct Arena. This release is quite different in nature, with a laid back, sombre R&B groove. The band have noted, “‘Weeds’ is one of the most beautiful songs we’ve ever worked on – it’s about growing together.”.

This notion is seemingly important to the band and their audience considering how many have grown alongside their discography throughout the decades that they have been sharing music.

The band will continue their tour this April and May, performing their hit tracks alongside these fresh new releases.

Keeping true to her dynamic stage presence and sensual visuals, Dua opened the show with her tunes ‘Training Season’ and ‘End Of An Era’ from her latest studio album ‘Radical Optimism’. The pop artists also gave homage to Australia’s very own AC/DC with a surprise cover of ‘Highway To Hell’, leaving her fans in awe. She closed out the show with chart-topping songs ‘Don’t Start Now’ and ‘Houdini’, delivering a show to remember.

The world tour supports the singer’s third studio album ‘Radical Optimism’, released in May 2024. The album went number 1 in 12 countries including the UK where it became the biggest album debut from a UK female artist since Adele, although not being nominated for a Grammy later on in the same year.

The year 2024 was huge for the artists with milestones such as a headline performance on Glastonbury’s famous Pyramid Stage and her first primetime concert special An Evening With Dua Lipa filmed live at The Royal Albert Hall, followed by the tour kickoff of the Asian leg in Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul and more.

Dua will travel back to Europe in May after her Australian dates before returning to North America in September. The tour consists of multiple nights in most cities, including a four-night run at legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City, two sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium in her native city of London and another four-night run at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Taking some time away from her popular podcast ‘Mad, Sad & Bad’ to focus on her new album, she told The Sun: “It’s not just sad and happy — it’s the bit in between where you are tentatively happy. I am pulling in from everywhere. It’s my life experiences, sometimes I have a conversation and I write things down or it’s how I feel that day. Sometimes it can be something I’ve read about that’s really struck me. It’s always been like that. I feel like the most structured writing I’ve ever done is the last album as it was only an album about my breakup. Every other album I’ve always written about lots of other areas about my life and I’m sort of doing that again. I like the lighter experience at the moment.”

The ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ singer admitted that her latest album ‘The Glorification Of Sadness’ was some of her most structured work which inspired her to start writing about her own life once again. The album peaking at number 2 on the UK charts after its release.

Opening up last year to The Standard about her recent ADHD diagnosis, the songstress said: “I have spent my whole life struggling with certain things but didn’t get a diagnosis until a year ago which I found really helpful. Lots of things start to add up. When you go through the assessment process the questions you’re like ‘Oh my God, that’s part of it as well!’ They start asking you these questions and you’re like I didn’t even think that was part of it.”

There is no release date just yet for the artist’s next album.

The Essex pop singer took to social medias yesterday to reveal her second pregnancy. She welcomed her first child back in April 2024 after secretly tying the knot to rapper boyfriend Slowthai in Las Vegas back in 2022. The news came shortly after Anne-Marie opened up about her “most beautiful yet hardest year”, following her husband recently being cleared from the rape allegations against him from two women at a house party in 2021.

Anne-Marie has previously supported artists such as Shania Twain at her BST Hyde Park Show in London in the summer of 2024 after collaborating together on the title track of Anne-Marie’s last album ‘Unhealthy’.

Her latest release also features the song called ‘I Don’t Like Your Boyfriend’, a track where she talks about her dislike towards her friend’s boyfriend where the other track focuses more on her inner turmoil. Lead track ‘Don’t Panic’ is a raw and powerful song that delves into the chaotic reality of anxiety and inner turmoil. With haunting imagery and vulnerable lyrics, it captures the relentless whirlwind of thoughts and emotions that accompany feelings of panic. Yet, amidst the storm, Anne-Marie makes a poignant plea for calm and self-compassion.

Anne- Marie says: ”These songs are intended to be the realisation that in searching for a friend, sometimes you’re the only friend you’ll ever need. Apart from me, I can be your best friend, right!?”

The new single, ‘No One Leaves This Discotheque Alive’, showcases Rialto’s ability to blend their signature lush soundscapes with modern influences. The track brims with atmospheric instrumentation, haunting synth layers, and dynamic percussion, all supporting Louis Eliot’s pure vocals, evoking a sound reminiscent of the Pet Shop Boys. Lyrically, the song delves into themes of escapism and the fleeting nature of nightlife, with a touch of existential reflection. Lines like “I just want to lose my head, no one leaves the discotheque alive” capture the raw emotion and introspection woven into the track. The upcoming album, ‘Neon and Ghost Signs’, is expected to expand on the themes introduced in the single. Fans can anticipate a blend of Rialto’s classic lush arrangements and reflective storytelling, layered with contemporary sonic elements. The album is set to reflect the band’s remarkable evolution over the last two decades, providing a collection of tracks that bridge their iconic past with a nice modern twist.  

To promote the album, Rialto has scheduled a series of intimate in-store performances at Rough Trade record stores across the UK. These shows provide a rare opportunity for fans to experience the band’s new material in a close and personal setting. The scheduled dates are all around the UK including Bristol on April 27, Nottingham on April 28, and Liverpool on April 29 and London on April 30. Tickets for these events are expected to sell quickly, as anticipation for Rialto’s live return builds. 

Formed in London in 1997, Rialto gained fame with their self-titled debut album in 1998, featuring hits like ‘Untouchable’ and ‘Monday Morning 5:19’. Their distinctive Britpop sound, characterised by lush orchestration and poignant lyrics, earned them critical acclaim and saw their debut album peak at 21 on the Official Charts. Despite their initial success, the band disbanded after the tour for their second album, ‘Night on Earth,’ in 2001, leaving fans longing for a comeback that has finally arrived. 

Rialto’s comeback arrives at a time when nostalgia for Britpop and ’90s music is enjoying a resurgence through the likes of Oasis and Blur. Yet, their return isn’t merely a glance backward, it’s a celebration of their ability to remain relevant and push boundaries in the evolving music landscape. ‘Neon and Ghost Signs’ promises to bridge the gap between the band’s iconic history and their refreshed artistic vision for the future. With their clear unique ability to craft timeless music, Rialto’s return ensures that 2025 will be a defining year in their extraordinary legacy.

She said: “Seventeen to me is a child. You’re in school. You have no autonomy most of the time. If a schoolteacher is coming onto you, that’s an abuse of power. But I didn’t realize until I was his age.”  

Rina, who admitted to attending sex and relationship therapy in her thirties, said that these experiences influenced the track “Your Age” from her 2022 album, Hold The Girl.

She continued: “I remember distinctly how uncomfortable that made me, but I didn’t put the two and two together. And it was through this very intense form of therapy, which I feel so lucky to be able to have access to, that I was able to come to terms with that, and it completely broke my whole world apart.”  

The singer, who was nominated for best new artist at the 2023 Brit Awards, added that whilst writing the album was one of the most difficult things, the reception has been incredible. She said: “It makes me so happy when I see especially like women or femmes in the audience connecting to it because I haven’t talked about this in specifics. I’ve just said it’s about a period in my life when I was younger, but I know the truth and when I look out to the audience, and I see femmes or women connecting to it, I’m like maybe you know what I’m talking about, maybe you’re feeling it right now.”  

Whilst Rina does not have a direction for her third album, she is ready to close this chapter. “I would love a day where I can just write a song that’s just about love or sex”, the popstar added.  

Hold The Girl is the sophomore album by British popstar Rina Sawayama. The album, which follows up from her self-titled record, includes hits such as “This Hell”, “Catch Me in the Air”, and “Hold The Girl.” The 2022 album achieved great commercial success and debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart. Across the pond, the record debuted at number 166 on the US Billboard 200.  

The 2022 album received positive responses from critics, in which Hannah Mylrea from NME called it “The best British pop album of the year.”
