Jess Glynne has been forced to cancel her Brits week 2019 performance, just days ahead of the ceremony. The 29-year-old singer has been forced to pull out of her performance after doctors put her on “strict vocal rest”, following illness.

The star was scheduled to entertain crowds at War Child’s BRITs Week Together event, on Monday night, which comes just days ahead of the annual music ceremony, which will be held at London’s O2 Arena, on the 20th of February 2019. The singer has previously undergone two operations on her vocal chords and this latest illness has forced her to postpone her show, after doctors put her on “strict vocal rest”.

The news was confirmed on War Child’s official Twitter page. With them tweeting: “We’re so sorry to tell you @JessGlynne’s show for #BRITsWeek together with @O2music is being postponed due to her being on strict vocal rest.”

The show will now take place on May 22nd at @o2sbe. All original tickets will remain valid. Get well soon Jess!

— War Child Music (@warchild_music) 15 February 2019

Replying to War Child’s post, the singer revealed that she is gutted, and apologised to her fans for letting them down. Responding to War Child’s post, Glynne said: “I’m really sorry that I have to move this show. I hope you understand that I must look after my health and the doctor has told me to rest so I have to do so.”

However, the powerhouse singer has insisted that her May shows will still go ahead, as planned. She continued “I’ll be back in May to do this show and I promise it will be worth the wait.”

Jess was set to perform in next week’s awards, and she is also in the running to take home four gongs. The singer has been nominated for Best Female Solo Artist, as well as Best British Video of the Year, for her collaboration with Rudimental, Macklemore and Dan Caplen on the track, ‘These Days’. Jess has also received two nods in the British Single of the Year, category with her single, ‘I’ll Be There’, as well as, ‘These Days’.

This is not the first time Jess has been forced to pull out of a performance due to illness, in 2015 she was unable to take to the stage, at Glastonbury festival and the Isle of Wight festival. The singer has previously undergone two operations on her vocal chords, and fears another operation could put an end to her career for good.

Speaking previously to The Sun, Glynne said: “I will never let that happen. I can’t afford to let that happen. Honestly, I couldn’t have another operation. One, I don’t want to go through it. And two, my voice is already… it’s not weak but it’s not as strong as a normal person’s. So to have another operation over scar tissue would just result in weaker and weaker muscle. I can’t let it happen.”

The Brit Awards have announced that, multi-million selling global pop icon, P!nk will be honoured with the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, at this year’s ceremony. P!NK will be the first international artist to receive this award, following in the footsteps of the likes of Sir Elton John, the Spice Girls, and David Bowie.

The award has not been presented at the BRITs since 2012, when Blur were the recipients of the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Music Award. The pop icon will receive the honour during this year’s ceremony, which will be held, at The O2 Arena, in London, on the 20th of February 2019.

Speaking about receiving the prestigious award, in a statement, P!nk said: “I am so honoured to be recognised with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the 2019 BRITs! Since the beginning of my career the British fans have been some of the most fierce and loyal in the world. I am humbled to receive this honour and be in the company of an illustrious group of British icons!”

P!NK is a musical force to be reckoned with, with seven studio albums and one greatest hits album, since her debut in 2000, totalling more than 60 million global sales, and more than 8 million, in the UK alone along with more than 12 million UK single sales. The singer/song-writer has many accolades under her belt. P!NK has become one of the UK’s best-selling female artists and one of the world’s greatest singers, with her inimitable powerhouse vocals and show-stopping stage performances; with seven Top Five albums – with two going No. 1 (Funhouse and the most recent platinum-certified Beautiful Trauma), three UK No. 1 singles (‘Just Like A Pill’, ‘So What’, ‘Lady Marmalade’) and 32 Top 40 singles, 19 of which going Top 10, including ‘Try’, ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ and ‘What About Us’.

In the UK alone, the pop icon has sold more than 2 million tickets to date, nine BRIT nominations, and one win for International Female Solo Artist, in 2003, and a string of other prestigious awards and accolades including three GRAMMY awards (20 nominations) and two Billboard Music Awards, P!NK’s career sees no sign of letting up with her first UK stadium tour in five years booked for this summer, including two nights, at London’s Wembley Stadium.

BRITs Chairman and Chairman & CEO of Sony Music UK and Ireland, Jason Iley said: “P!NK is a trailblazer, a phenomenally talented singer and songwriter, and truly one of the greatest artists of our time. It is a real pleasure to honour her at this year’s BRIT Awards with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award. With her remarkable career spanning nearly 20 years, P!NK is one of the most successful artists in the world, consistently releasing multi-million-selling albums and selling out tours all over the globe. I am really excited to welcome her back to The BRITs and to recognise her prodigious success.”

P!NK joins an illustrious list of previous BRIT Awards Outstanding Contribution to Music recipients including Sir Elton John, David Bowie, Queen, Spice Girls, U2, Sir Paul McCartney, Oasis, Robbie Williams and Blur. The award was rested in 2013 to make way for a Special Recognition for War Child to mark the charity’s 20th anniversary. P!NK will be the first international artist to receive the honour, a decision taken by The BRITs committee to open the award up to overseas acts who have achieved long term success, in the UK, and P!NK will be awarded in recognition of her significant impact on British music and her incredible musical repertoire over the past two decades.

As like all winners on the night, P!NK will be presented with an exclusive trophy designed for this year only by Sir David Adjaye OBE, and she will close the show with an exclusive performance on the night, showcasing her extraordinary talent which continues to wow audiences all over the world. Pink will tour the UK and Ireland in the summer – see her scheduled dates below.

He has had such a massive international career and is one of the most successful British artists of the 21st century. Although he has the songs One Kiss with Dua, Promises with Sam and Giant with Rag’N’Bone Man, they are yet to decide on what they will sing. It could be some of those or perhaps other hits from Calvin’s mammoth back catalogue.”

BRIT Awards Chairman and Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK & Ireland, Jason Iley, said: “I’m delighted that Calvin will be performing at The BRITs for the first time ever; he is a global superstar who has created some of the biggest hits with the biggest artists in the world. The stats say it all! He will be joined by a trio of incredible British talent – Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Rag‘n’Bone Man – each of whom are individually amazing performers and have been lighting up the UK charts. This will undoubtedly be one of the stand out moments of the night.”

As previously announced (January 12), during ITV’s one-hour special ‘The BRITs Are Coming’, Calvin Harris is nominated for British Single and British Artist Video of the Year for his collaboration with Dua Lipa on ‘One Kiss’ – which was the biggest-selling single of 2018 and spent 8 weeks at the top of the charts.

In addition, Dua Lipa – who is the most nominated female artist in BRITs history for a second consecutive year – is nominated four times, with two nominations for Best Single and two nominations for British Artist Video of the Year, for her solo track ‘IDGAF’ and for the Calvin Harris track ‘One Kiss’ – a collaboration which resulted in Dua achieving the longest-running No. 1 single for a UK female artist this century.

Harris and Lipa will be joined by three-time BRIT winners Sam Smith and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man. 2014 BRITs Critics’ Choice winner, Smith and Harris’ track ‘Promises’ went to No. 1 upon its release last summer. Smith received one nomination, this year, for British Male Solo Artist this year.

Meanwhile, three-time BRIT winner Rag’n’Bone Man – the second artist to win both BRITs Critics’ Choice and British Breakthrough awards after Sam Smith, and the only artist to win both in the same year – returns to The BRITs as part of this incredible performance line up. Rag’n’Bone Man and Calvin’s collaboration ‘Giant’ went straight into the Top 10 in the UK singles chart upon its release, in January this year.

Following the confirmation that Little Mix, George Ezra and Jorja Smith will be performing at the BRIT Awards 2019, it was revealed that The 1975 have been added to the line-up. Speaking about performing at the ceremony, The 1975 said: “We’re humbled to be nominated for two BRIT Awards and are excited to be coming back to The O2 to perform on the night. It will be a brilliant show!”

The 1975 have been confirmed after they received nominations for British Group and Album of The Year. Little Mix, have been nominated in the Best Group and Best Video categories. Meanwhile, three-time nominees George Ezra and Jorja Smith will also perform on the night, with Ezra up for British Male, British Single and Album of the Year. While, 2018 Critics’ Choice winner, Jorja Smith is nominated for British Female, British Breakthrough and Album of the Year.
