British rockers Bring Me The Horizon have announced the release date for their latest single, “Strangers” is set to be released on 6th July 2022. The forthcoming single is the second track to be taken from the Posthuman 2, the second instalment of their posthuman series. The first single taken from the upcoming album was released on 16th September 2021, entitled “Die4U”, the track was well received and landed within the UK singles top 100 charts.

In preparation for the release of “Strangers”, the band shared a clip teasing the new track. The post included a snippet of the song along with its release date, within the single’s promo frontman Olly Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish can be seen singing.

A less stripped-back version of the song was debuted during a festival appearance last month, the group treated ticketholders attending Malta Weekender to the track’s premiere. The festival was the band’s brainchild and featured a lineup curated by the group themselves, billed to perform included Bullet For My Valentine, While She Sleeps, Motionless In White along with various DJ sets. During the band’s set on Saturday 28th May 2022, they performed some of their old favourites alongside the new material. The live set marked a decade since some of the tracks had been played live, the group opened with “Liquor & Love Lost”, the song was last performed live in 2008.

Although the band have featured on various tracks this year, “Strangers” will be the band’s first 2022 release as the lead artist. This year, Bring Me The Horizon lent their talents as featured artists for multiple artists, most notably with Ed Sheeran at this year’s BRIT Awards. The duo joined forces to perform a heavier rock-influenced version of Sheeran’s top selling single “Bad Habits”, the new partnership and performance proved popular and was released as studio single. Sykes has previously spoken with BANG Showbiz concerning working again with Sheeran, “We’re talking about it. We’ve been emailing each other and figuring out what it could sound like and what it would be. I think Ed’s really excited about it and we are too.”

Earlier this spring, Bring Me The Horizon worked with Norwegian pop singer Sigrid on the track “Bad Life”. The song was originally written by Sykes and Fish and was initially meant for the 2020 album Post Human: Survival Horror. After the group met Sigird at a show they offered the song to her, subsequently, the track was then re-written with the singer. The group have also collaborated with American artist Machine Gun Kelly on the track “Maybe”, the track was released on the 16th March 2022 via Bad Boy and Interscope. The single was received with commercial praise and placed within the UK’s top 40 singles charts.

The band are currently touring across Europe with a long list of festival appearances ahead of them. After a set at Hungary’s Volt Festival on 23rd June 2022, the band are set to perform at nine more European events before their appearance at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival. After 27th and 28th August 2022, the group are scheduled to head across the pond for a series of performances in the USA.

The line-up will be selected by Bring Me The Horizon themselves, and according to NME, the festival will feature a “retrospective set from the band alongside a host of club nights, pool party takeovers and boat parties.” Presently, other than Bring Me The Horizon, no other acts have been announced thus far.

Frontman Oli Sykes said of the announcement; “We’re buzzing to be hosting a Bring Me The Horizon themed festival in Malta next year, coming up with as much madness as you’d expect from a fully metal, rock festival…“As well as our headline set we’re also going to be doing a special throwback set with some songs we haven’t played for years, and have an insane line up of friends and guests coming out to perform too. It’s basically going to be the greatest weekend ever.” You can read more about the event at this link.

In other news, Bring Me The Horizon have had quite an eventful year thus far, having released a new single and two collaborative songs following their 2020 E.P. POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR, which was well-received by both fans and critics. One of these collaborative efforts sees the group joining forces with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, on a song entitled “Let’s Get The Party Started” a high-energy track that features screamed vocals from singer Oli Sykes and swaggering, blues-tinged riffs that have become a hallmark of Morello’s playing.

In late September, Bring Me The Horizon released the single “DiE4u”, a pop-rock tinged hit that acts as a harbinger of the sound of their next E.P, which will be a continuation of the group’s POST HUMAN project. According to Topshelf Music, the band presently have three more E.Ps planned for the series. Thus far, the POST HUMAN project has seen the band collaborate with several exciting artists, such as Japanese metal band BABYMETAL, Nova Twins, YUNGBLUD and singer Amy Lee of Evanescence fame.

Bring Me The Horizon have recently performed an intimate show at legendary Los Angeles venue Whisky A Go Go, where fellow UK artist YUNGBLUD made an appearance to perform “Obey”, a collaborative single that he and the band released last year. The band also made an appearance at Knotfest, which also took place in Los Angeles.
