Since the premiere of lead single ‘Baby Sleep’, the video, which dropped in October of last year. And single ‘Child of the Flatlands’ a month prior and finally the third single ‘I Don’t Know What I’m Doing’ which dropped on 27 November 2020, a lot of buzz has been circulating over the anticipated release of the band’s seventh studio album ‘Nature Always Wins‘ to be released on February 26th 2021.

As music fans have seen, the Lockdown blues has not been strong enough to stop creativity. And now Maximo Park has returned to show us what they have been up to during COVID. Lead singer, Paul Smith describes their triumphant return and how the band coped during Lockdown, ‘’I’m so happy we were able to make this album during the lockdown, as it’s been a challenging time for everyone’ Smith continues to chart the band’s passage of time, ‘After almost 4 years since ‘Risk To Exist’, we wanted to explore new musical territory (for us) without sacrificing our trademark melodic twists and heartfelt lyrics. As always, the passing of time looms large, although the songs contain more affection for the past than before, and there are occasional hints of the fractious, divided time that we live in.”

The Newcastle Upon Tyne cooky rockers have a lot to follow-up with, with two gold albums and six studio albums under their belt. And of course, not forgetting, their Mercury Prize nomination, back in 2005 a time where hand sanitiser was not a daily routine and high waisted skinny jeans were everywhere the band was nominated for debut ‘A Certain Trigger’. They were the Indie darlings that we couldn’t stop listening to, and now with their return, they are set to regain their crown. Die-hard fans will remember the 2005 release of their second single ‘Apply Some Pressure’ which capitulated the stylish bands into the stars and our iPod Nanos and will no doubt be performed in their live steam, March 6th 2021 from the Riverside venue.

If the lead single ‘Baby Sleeps’ is anything to go on, fans are seeing that nothing has been sacrificed with the band safely rooted in their unique Indie sound. Although the passing of time often leaves uncertainty and doubts, fans now can feel certain for the return of Maximo Park on March 6th 2021.

Working in conjunction with his wife, the award-winning author and lyricist Polly Samson, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is set to release his first single in five years, in an upcoming audiobook recording of Samson’s A Theatre for Dreamers. Due to be released on June 25th, this new recording features original music by Gilmour throughout, and the new single that has generated so much excitement will be titled “Yes I Have Ghosts“. Co-written by Samson, the song is reportedly inspired by the one of the novel’s roster of Mediterranean characters.

In an NME article reporting on the new song’s release, the book, which was originally published in April of this year and is set on the Greek island of Hydra in 1960, “captures the hazy, sun-drenched days of an expat bohemian community of poets, painters, and musicians. In Samson’s fifth work of fiction, the characters live tangled lives that are ruled by their king and queen, writers Charmain Clift and George Johnston.”

Currently pinned at the top of her official Twitter page, @PollySamson, a tweet from April 2nd comes from the author hoping that her work will “transport you to 1960s Hydra for a little while.“ Meanwhile, on Gilmour’s weekly musical livestream The Von Trapped Family, Samson took the opportunity to further promote her work on the new novel and its recent release.

Here’s the hi-res version of last night's livestream, in which @davidgilmour discussed his childhood friendship with Syd Barrett and played two of Syd's song, plus @charliegilmour revealed his new book is called Featherhood.

Elsewhere, discussing this latest artistic partnership with his wife, Gilmour was keen to complement her “vivid and poetic writing,” which, “coupled with her very natural narration voice, made joining forces to produce the audio version of ‘A Theatre for Dreamers’ a fantastic and fulfilling experience”.

Adding that he was “really pleased and proud of how Polly’s words and my music have entwined in this audio version of the novel,” Gilmour credits his daughter Romany and her contributions with harp and additional vocal while the family had been in lockdown.

A family effort and one musical, harmonious household. Can’t get any better than that, surely.

American rock band Brand New have hinted at how long they have left together before there impending break up at a recent live show.

Brand New told the world they are planning to split up when they released new merchandise on their online shops, with a host of t-shirts featuring the dates 2000-2018, which confirms their planned time to stay together.

The group, which consists of Jesse Lacey (lead vocals, guitars), Vincent Accardi (guitars, backing vocals), Garrett Tierney (bass guitar), and Brian Lane (percussion), got together back in 2000, and released their first album Your Favorite Weapon in 2001. Their success grew once they released the second record Deja Entendu in 2003, that got an extremely positive reaction, and the first two singles from the album “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows” and “Sic Transit Gloria… Glory Fades” both entered the UK top 40 singles chart, and the album was certified gold in the United States.

After shifting around record labels since their first which was Triple Crown Records, then onto Interscope Records, the band now have their own label which they started in 2008 named named Procrastinate! Music Traitors. Its on this they released their fourth album Daisy in 2009, hitting number 6 on the US Billboard chart before their latest Science Fiction.

The New York band surprise released a fifth and suggested to fans, final album this year named Science Fiction in August. It went onto reach number one in the US, and shifted an impressive 58,000 copies in its first week. They are currently on tour for this album, and it was at one of these shows that front man Jesse Lacy told the fans in the room, “We’re gonna be a band for about 14 more months, so thank you so much for being here tonight.” You can see this below.

This also follows an announcement made by Lacey last year while on tour in October 2016, where he told the audience “I’m gonna have a new daughter. We’ll hopefully have a record for you. I wanna tell you right here and now, this isn’t gonna last much longer, but it’s been so special for so long. For as long as it does last, we’re so grateful to you all for being here.”

Brand New are coming to play live in the UK and Ireland next month, over these following dates:

Dublin, Olympia Theatre (November 16)
London, O2 Academy Brixton (18)
Glasgow, O2 Academy (19)

These shows will be the last of the already announced show dates for the band.

The boys from Biffy Clyro are back. This time they’ve come with an 8 date tour across the UK in November and December.

With support from Brand New, the tour will see the Scottish rockers play a number of arenas around the UK in support of their seventh album Ellipsis, which was released in July.

Starting off in Glasgow, the Kilmarnock trio will be travelling to Aberdeen, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff and Birmingham. The tour will come to an end at London’s O2 Arena on the 8 December. The new dates follow Biffy’s current European tour, which has just seen them play Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend.

Tickets for the shows go on general sale from 9am GMT on September 2 and are available to buy from the band’s official website. Vocalist and guitarist Simon Neil has said “We would like to let you know that we’re doing a UK tour with Brand New, which is unbelievably exciting. It’s going to be one hell of a show – we can’t wait.”

The band have been together for 21 years and released their first album Blackened Sky in 2002. The last time Biffy Clyro toured the UK was in 2013, off the back of Opposites which was another arena tour. Ellipsis reached number one on the Official Charts, making it their second album to do so, following Opposites back in 2013. The album features songs Wolves of Winter, Howl and Medicine.

Earlier this year, front man Simon Neil admitted to NME that he was in a “terrible headspace” during the early process of making the album.

Brand New, a rock band from Long Island, New York, have had hits with The boy who blocked his own shot and Seventy times 7. The band are expected to split in 2018, with hints that their upcoming record Daisy may be their last, according to NME.

Biffy Clyro’s latest single, Howl was released on 4 August, listen and watch the video below.

Biffy Clyro’s tour dates are below:

29/11 – Glasgow SSE Hydro
3o/11 – Aberdeen GE Oil & Gas Arena
2/12 – Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
