Chief booker James Scarlett said of next summer’s festival, “Once again we’re bringing a line-up of 2000trees legends, including the likes of Boston Manor and The XCERTS, to open the festival on the Wednesday night for those of you lucky enough to get your hands on a four-day ticket. We’re also stoked to be welcoming so many bands like The Gaslight Anthem, Manchester Orchestra, Hot Mulligan and Better Lovers to the festival for the very first time. 2000trees 2024 is already shaping up to be something truly special – don’t sleep on it!” 

The festival is certainly aiming to capitalise on and further promote acts that have been grabbing the attention of fans and critics in recent months with groups such as Brighton’s Lambrini Girls, Southampton’s thrash/hardcore crossover band Grove Street and Glasgow’s Dead Pony all getting the opportunity to wow audiences with their exciting, pulse-raising live sets that have earned them much press coverage over the past year.

A stand out feature for 2024 will undoubtedly be Better Lovers-a supergroup made up of members of Dillinger Escape Plan and Everytime I Die. UK audiences will be eager to catch what will assuredly be a wildly chaotic and exhilarating performance from a band that promises true greatness in the years to come.

Founded in 2007, 2000trees festival was began by six friends who were tired of the mainstream festivals dominating the British Summer Time scene and yearning for a more underground celebration that featured bands that were less well known, up and coming or rooted in the alternative scene. The festival remains small, capping out at 15,000 attendees-giving it a close-knit atmosphere.

Desperate Times Desperate Pleasures will consist of five songs in total, which means two more songs will join the roaster. “Don’t Like People (& They Don’t Like Me)” and “Let The Right One In” will be available alongside the rest of the singles this Friday. Frontman, Henry Cox, told Kerrang!: “as soon as January this year hit, just like that all these songs started flooding out of us. It was a really great opportunity to exorcise all of the frustration and pent-up emotion of the previous year and really process those thoughts and feelings.”.

Lockdown caused setbacks to the band’s tour ‘Glue’ in 2020. Boston Manor is set to return to the stage in early 2022, alongside Movements and Jools.  Boston Manor’s new songs are in high demand of a circle pit to play around. Especially after the mayhem, they created during this year’s Download Pilot. Led by the wild stage presence, which has taken them on tour with the likes of Casey, Trophy Eyes, and Good Charlotte. With a long line of mosh-worthy tracks off of Welcome To The Neighbourhood (2018) and Glue (2020), and has seen them take on Vans Warped Tour, Slam Dunk, and even Reading and Leeds. With new singles joining the tracklist for their tour, it is anyone’s guess which classic songs will be hitting the stage this coming February. With fan favourites like “Halo”, “Laika”, and “England’s Dreaming” still giving the crowds what they want. The excitement for this tour has been building since it was first announced, after the disappointment of cancellations due to the pandemic.

The new single “Algorithm” is another example of the creativity of Boston Manor. Using what they’ve learned on previous albums, and using their platform to show off how lush their mixing skills are, the song shines through as strongly as their last single, “Carbon Mono”. Premiered last night via their twitch as it hit streaming services. Paired with a mystic lyric video that enhances the tone and message of the song.

Its VHS effect adds to Boston Manors aesthetic that they have been driving into their music ever since 2018’s Welcome To The Neighbourhood. Herny Cox, frontman and vocalist, told Kerrang! “In the current media landscape, artists now are expected not only to write and perform music; but also to be media personalities, stylists, photographers, merch companies, streamers, gamers, filmmakers and just about everything in between“, when discussing the meaning of the track. Already being booked again for Download 2022 after their incredible performance at Download pilot this year. Boston Manor is pushing off on a UK tour this coming February (2022), starting off with a show in Camden’s Electric Ballroom and Finishing off in Southampton. They will be joined by Movements and Jools Warming up this autumn in an American tour with Neck Deep, They will perform their new music for the first time and finally get to debut songs off Glue (2020) which they have been unable to since its release. After playing this years Download Pilot, the band is looking fresh and ready to take the world by storm on the lead up to their new album. Now, with new song ‘Carbon Mono’, Boston are heading for the number one spot in this years charts. With warm-up shows before the festival booked, it is exciting to be hearing from the boys again. Especially, as live music opens up again. That is one of the reasons they have teamed up with the National Lottery’s Revive Live Tour, which will help people back into independently owned venues that have struggled during the pandemic. Alongside, new and buzzing Static Dress. Working together to bring back live music in a safe way. In the hopes that by the time their February 2022 tour roles along, everything will be back to normal.

After Architects receiving a number one album, the rock and metal world could be coming more and more into popularity. Whether or not this will mean a number one for these guys or not is not out of the question. As 2020’s Glue came 94th in the UK album charts, and the band has grown bigger every since. BM are one to look out for as you wait for Catfish and the Bottlemen on the friday of Reading fest.
