It would be easy to see modern Bring Me The Horizon (BMTH) play festivals, stadiums and arenas to sold out crowds and forget where they came from. Their current music is a frantic mix of metal, rock, pop and electronic elements that has rewritten the heavy metal template, but as teenagers in Sheffield in 2006 they were a different beast altogether. Their debut ‘Count Your Blessings’ was one of the earliest and heaviest deathcore releases, and paved the way for the group’s wild future successes.

Back in April, BMTH announced a special 20th anniversary re-recording of their debut, titled ‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’, produced by frontman Oli Sykes and guitarist Lee Malia, and mixed by Buster Odeholm. The 10 original tracks are brought to life with modern engineering quality, in a way the band describe as it being “reborn, sharper, heavier and more vital than ever” – adding a new level of intensity to songs like ‘Pray For Plagues, ‘Black & Blue’ and ‘(I Used to Make Out With) Medusa’. Speaking of the choice to remix it in a way that was both true to the original while still fresh and novel, Skyes remarked “We can’t have this record sounding like what bands sound like today. It needs to be the best version of what it sounded like in 2006.”

After dropping the new and improved ‘Black & Blue’ as the lead single from ‘Repented’ 2 weeks ago, fans have been desperate for more tracks before the album releases on the 10th of July. As luck would have it, BMTH announced a new single and music video named ‘Dehumanized’ at the start of the week, and teased it with short clips of the band covered in blood ahead of its release yesterday. ‘Dehumanized’ is the only new, original composition for the record, added as an 11th track for the reissue – here’s the track listing for ‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’:

‘Dehumanized’ carries the feel of the classic material despite being written 20 years later, and stands on its own as a crushingly heavy deathcore track. Sykes’ screeches and growls which made him famous sound phenomenal in 2026, the breakdowns hit in all the right ways, and the video is a violent, visceral tribute to early music videos from the genre. The song serves as a big closing statement at the end of the record, celebrating both old and new eras of the band’s catalogue. Check the song and video out below:

To celebrate 20 years of ‘Count Your Blessings’ and the release of the reissue, Bring Me The Horizon are set to play several one-off headline shows where they will play the album in its entirety for the first time ever, alongside some bonus performances from the same era of the band. The two UK July shows on the 10th and 11th will be at Manchester’s B.E.C. Arena in partnership with the city’s alternative gathering Outbreak Fest, with a stacked bill featuring Static Dress, Dying Wish, Heriot, Rolo Tomassi, Car Underwater and Still In Love. Then after completing their North American tour with their contemporary music dubbed ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn – The Third Ascension Program’, they’re ending the year with another ‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’ show at Birmingham, Alabama’s Furnace Fest on the 11th of October.

‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’ releases on the 10th of July on streaming, CD and vinyl. The singles ‘Black & Blue’ and ‘Dehumanized’ are out now.

Yungblud teased the arrival of some new material via a post to social media on September 17th. The retro-looking clip featured shots of Yungblud styled in various quirky outfits whilst the singer-songwriter soliloquised the introspective subject, “What does it mean to be weird?”

Continuing the implication towards new music, Yungblud wrote in the caption that “it all begins Thursday.” Yungblud shared the same post to his official Instagram, which has been met with a joyous reception from fans, receiving a whopping 324,000 likes.

In the video, Yungblud, real name Dominic Harrison, questions personhood asking “Is it a name of celebration? Is it a name of pain? I think that decision lies with us and us alone.” The artist then spoke on the importance of self-acceptance, relaying that “The thing about human beings is that we forget that we’re all 15 different people at any one moment. We don’t know which version of ourselves that we’re going to wake up to.”

Yungblud inspires his fans to embrace their unconventionality, regardless of how it present itself, wholly and completely. He closes the encouraging clip with “embrace the strange, celebrate the abnormal and allow every part of yourself to speak, sing and run around in circles…To be weird is to be different and extraordinarily free. To me, to be weird is the best thing you can f****** be”

In a recent interview, Harrison spoke out about his “coming-of-age” second album, which is influenced from popular, adult-reaching TV drama, Skins. According to Harrion, his next album “explores the ideas of identity, of sexuality, of equality, of depression, of anxiety, of life, of love, of heartbreak, of everything…Me and my fan base, we’re coming of age together. I want to do it side by side.”

In other news, Yungblud has been picked to be part of the huge lineup for the 2021 instalment of Reading & Leeds. The long-standing music festival will be headlined by some of Britain’s best acts next year, including Liam Gallagher, rapper Stormzy, indie band Catfish And The Bottlemen and rock legends Queens of the Stone Age. Electronic duo Disclosure and Post Malone will also be performing.

This month, Yungblud collaborated with rock band Bring Me The Horizon for their dynamic new song, Obey. Released on September 2nd, Obey is bursting with heavy guitar riffs and chaotic percussion. The music video for Obey can be watched here.

Known for his socially-commentating lyrics and catchy music, Yungblud is one of the most refreshing young artists today. Yungblud stormed onto the scene with his blinding debut album, 21st Century Liability, back in 2018. Since then, Yungblud’s influence has only grown larger and larger.

In the post, he discussed their plans for going forward. With his bandmate, Jordan Fish and videographer Brian Cox, the three teamed up during self-isolation. “We’ve been isolating since & are all well.. so here’s our plan,” Sykes said.

Oli added: “We are going to continue to write at home & even record some songs, we have everything we need to create the new record,” 

Sykes laid out ideas to involve fans throughout the process of producing the new album, and that they “will be sending constant updates of our progress, doing live chats and streams”.

Last week, the ‘amo’ band unveiled the BMTH8 project, releasing an announcement video through their Youtube channel. Just yesterday, they released their most recent update entitled ’13BMTH8 -lockdown-.mp4′.

Last December, the band released an eight-track project, featuring a long-awaited collaboration with Halsey. The project was named, here goes… ‘Music to listen to~dance to~blaze to~pray to~feed to~sleep to~talk to~grind to~trip to~breathe to~help to~hurt to~scroll to~roll to~love to~hate to~learn Too~plot to~play to~be to~feel to~breed to~sweat to~dream to~hide to~live to~die to~GO TO’.

It’s an extraordinary album with one track, ‘Underground Big (HEADFULOFHYENA)’, (a team-up with BEXEY & Lotus Eater), lasting 24 minutes. Yes, 24 minutes. BEXEY, Yonaka, Lotus Eater and Toriel further feature on the project.

And that’s not a computer error. Further still, the song titles within the project sound just as surreal, from their Halsey collaboration, ‘¿’, (an upside-down question mark), or track six, ‘like seeing spiders running riot on your lover’s grave’, (a collaboration with happyalone).

Rather remarkably, the fifth track, ‘Underground Big (HEADFULOFHYENA)’, (a team-up with BEXEY & Lotus Eater), runs for a staggering 24 minutes. Yes, 24 minutes. Yonaka and Toriel further feature on ‘Music To Listen To…’.

Their change in musical direction has never been more apparent than it is now with this new work, but it is no criticism on a band who has been challenging their musical creativity, breaking into new places for years, and subsequently reaping the rewards of their experimentation. The band recently scored their first ever UK Number One with ‘amo’.

In a statement from Bring Me The Horizon, they said: “Thank you to everyone in the UK for getting our new album ‘amo’ to Number 1. Thanks for buying it and streaming it and showing us support – it really means a lot to us. Thank you very much, we love you.”

This eight-track collection follows the release of ‘Ludens’, from the soundtrack to the ‘Death Stranding: Timefall’, directed by Hideo Kojima, released on November 8.

Bring Me The Horizon also launched customized merch based on Spotify streaming activity from their fans. Launched for a limited time only through their website, amo in colour, their fans select their favorite six tracks from ‘amo’, and with analysis of ‘loudness and energy’ from music intelligence platform The Echo Nest, a customized T-Shirt featuring the trademark hexagram logo and imagined color from the songs selected is made.
