Blade Brown and K-Trap are rappers from two different UK Rap generations; Blade Brown has been rapping for well over 10 years and was part of the UK Rap scene in the early 2000s, having made legendary tapes such as Hollowman Meets Blade alongside fellow UK Street rapper and UK legend Giggs. K-Trap on the other hand is part of the new generation who came through with the early UK drill sound having first appeared as a masked rapper in 2014 frequently featuring alongside UK drill pioneers 67. 

K-Trap has been using his social media to tell fans that 2022 will be a big year for him, coming after a 2021 that saw him drop what many fans of UK Rap see as a top 5 project with his mixtape Trapo. The rapper from Gipsy Hill’s last project featured classics such as “Warm” and despite only being a mixtape, it excited fans for what more the rapper may deliver. Blade hasn’t dropped a project since 2019, when he released the fourth part of his mixtape series Bags and Boxes 4.

The duo announced their upcoming joint project at the end of 2021 and left fans excited, with no official release date their new single “6 Figures” is the first single from either artist in nearly 6 months, and will lead fans to believe the tape they are all waiting for is coming soon. 

Their new single “6 Figures” sits on just over 100 thousand views following its release less than 24 hours ago.

Blade appeared alongside Posty on the bi-weekly Grm radio show on Apple music to announce the collaboration is in the works, The 36-year-old from Battersea said in his interview with Grm Daily founder Posty that the project “is probably one of the most asked things…me and trap we’re gonna give them that tape”.

Blade Brown and K-trap are regular collaborators appearing alongside one another on each others projects, away from the music they can often be seen on social media together celebrating successes such as the opening of BXB Ibiza, Blades new private members club, or just celebrating and living in their success.

Browns last project was released in 2019 when he dropped the 4th release of his legendary ‘Bags and Boxes’ series. K-trap featured on the highest-charting song on that project ‘Joints’ which peaked at 70th on the official chart. The project, in general, came in at 12th sitting 30 places higher than his release prior to this project ‘Bags and boxes 3’. 

K-trap last project release ’Street side effects’ was released at the end of last year and charted at 26th, making it the rappers highest-charting project. Blade featured on the track ‘Probably’ which currently sits on just over 2 million streams.

Since the announcement the two have been teasing fans with clips on social media of them in the studio listening to the upcoming project.

Blade Brown is part of the older generation of UK rap and has been able to keep relevance for well over 10 years, having dropped his first collaboration tape ‘Hollowman meets Blade’ in 2007 alongside UK legend Giggs. While K-Trrap has only been rapping since 2017 his sound and style hold many similarities to the older UK street rap style and is probably why his chemistry and connection with Blade Brown is so strong.
