The 2026 induction class for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has been announced, and a record number of British acts are on the list.

Six acts from the UK are being recognised in the main Performer category, breaking the previous record of five in 2019. This year the British inductees are: Oasis, Joy Division/New Order, Billy Idol, Phil Collins, Iron Maiden and Sade. Rounding out the class is American soul/R&B singer and producer, Luther Vandross and American hip-hip collective, Wu-Tang Clan.

In February the Rock Hall announced 17 nominees for the Performer category which were then narrowed to just 8 inductees by a panel of 1,200 artists, historians and industry professionals.

Both Sade, Nigerian-British front woman of her namesake band, and English rocker Billy Idol have been nominated once before. Meanwhile heavy metal band, Iron Maiden, have been nominated three times for the honor. Phil Collins was inducted in 2010 as a member of Genesis, but this is his first nomination as a solo act.

2026’s nomination marks the third consecutive year of the nod for Oasis. Frontman Liam Gallagher shared his thoughts on the induction on X this morning saying “ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame.”

I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream LG x

— Liam Gallagher (@liamgallagher) April 14, 2026

The sentiment is contrary to his previous comments on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Gallagher dismissed the band’s 2025 nomination, writing on X “RNR hall of fame is for WANKERS.”

This morning, a fan responded to Gallagher’s acknowledgment of the induction asking, “what happened to not wanting to be in it.” Gallagher said that speaking with his mother changed his mind: “she thinks I may have been a little hasty with my perception of the organization she’s told me to stop being a d**k and go to the awards and behave and you never know you might enjoy it.”

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson has also expressed critique with the Hall of Fame. On a tour in 2018 Dickinson said he believed the Hall was “a load of bollocks” and in 2023 he told The Telegraph “I don’t want to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, because we’re not dead yet!”

Sade’s induction carries significance with it, as she will be the first British Black woman inducted into the Hall of Fame. Sade was born in Nigeria and has lived in the UK since age 4. Her nominal band broke America, seeing great success there: 2010’s ‘Soldier of Love’ went Number 1 on the US Billboard 200 Charts.

Other induction categories include Early Influence featuring, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifa, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons.

Also to be inducted but into the Musical Excellence category is Rick Rubin, Linda Creed, Arif Mardin and Jimmy Miller.

Finally, receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award, given to a non-performing professional, is Ed Sullivan.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2026 Induction ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday 14 November. In December, a recording will air on Disney+ and ABC.

The festival was seeing his second birthday this year, right after freshly new released album from the Doncaster singer, ‘Idols’. The event, curated by the singer, saw him deliver a full headline performance which cemented him in the industry as a fantastic live act even more.

The festival, co-headlined by Chase Atlantic, featured a lineup including Denzel Curry, Blackbear and Rachel Chinouri. True to its promise, Bludfest festival kept accessibly priced tickets and community spots like the ‘Make A Friend’ tent which emphasises the ethos that the festival is “for the people”.

Yungblud’s set was a whirlwind of energy and tunes. In the middle of his set, the northerner got emotional whilst talking about his latest album, a project of four years in the making, he said: “I was so f***ing nervous to release this album… but to see the amount of love that you are giving it… I love you all so much.”

Another powerful moment saw Yungblud urge his fans to donate to War Child, speaking about how there are children in countries such as Palestine and Ukraine, unfairly stuck in the middle of wars they have nothing to do with and being wrongly murdered.

The night was full of surprises and even saw the appearance of rock legend Billy Idol, who joined Yungblud for a rendition of his famous tunes ‘White Wedding’. Yungblud declared his intention to bring an iconic figure to the festival every year. The night concluded with stadium-ready anthems like ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Zombie’, leaving Yungblud to declare, “I’ll remember this night forever.”

Other acts such as Chase Atlantic delivered energised and fun sets with lead singer Mitchel Cave acknowleding the heat and making sure the crowd was feeling okay and also praising Yungblud for the event. Earlier in the day, the main stage hosted electric performances from Luvcat, Elin Hall, and NXDIA. The second stage saw acclaimed sets from Peach PRC, Nieve Ella, and Master Peace, with The Cliffords and Reece Young also celebrating unforgettable performances.

Billy Idol has recently given his thoughts on the use of the swastika throughout the punk movement, describing it as “part of punk performance art”.

Speaking on the Turned Out A Punk podcast, the Generation X singer reflected on his time travelling with The Sex Pistols and Siouxsie and the Banshees throughout the 1970s.

Recalling a specific gig in 1976, Idol explained how a trip to Paris with the two bands almost led to a violent incident due to Sioux wearing a swastika.

The ‘Rebel Yell’ singer said: “Siouxsie was wearing her night porter gear, where she had the swastika on, and she was driving these left-wing French people crazy because they didn’t really get that it’s a performance art kind of thing.

“They just thought she was – because they were practically communists – they were thinking she was an anti-communist and they didn’t realise it’s part of punk performance art.”

Idol recalled how the audience members in Paris were “really upset by Sioux’s decision to wear the swastika as a fashion statement”, saying: “We sort of escaped across the stage. Pistols had come up across the stage and we went backstage to escape from the audience. They were getting really upset.”

The use of controversial symbolism was a constant theme throughout the punk scene, with Sid Vicious of The Sex Pistols most notably often wearing swastikas as a statement against authority, as well as fashionista Vivienne Westwood including inverted crucifixes in her designs.

Although this symbolism was big in the UK scene that Siouxsie Sioux and co. were used to, Idol explained how cultural differences between London and Paris at the time led to the anger: “They just didn’t understand the sort of London fashion performance art aspect of punk. We were reflecting back on the British society what they were doing to us by wearing these sort of political symbols.”

He concluded by saying: “It was kind of a reflection back on the powers that be. ‘This is what you want us to be? You want us to be fascist? Oh, how about we dress like that to frighten you?’ And it worked.”

Speaking in the 1991 Jon Savage book ‘England’s Dreaming’, Siouxsie Sioux explained her personal reasoning for the use of swastikas in the punk movement, saying: “It was always very much an anti-mums-and-dads thing.

“We hated older people. Not across the board, but generally the suburban thing, always harping on about Hitler, and, ‘We showed him’, and that smug pride. It was a way of saying, ‘Well, I think Hitler was very good, actually’; a way of watching someone like that go completely red-faced.”

Billy Idol, who turns 70 this November, recently released his first album in over a decade. Hitting the shelves last month, ‘Dream Into It’ includes collaborations with Avril Lavigne and Joan Jett. Check out the full album below.

English singer-songwriter Billy Idol has postponed his forthcoming UK and European tour due to ill health. The dates were originally scheduled to occur throughout June and July of this year, and have now been pushed forward to September and October.

The tour was announced in September of 2021, and was slated to feature new music from the singer, as well as setlists full of classic Idol tunes. Idol would also be joined on the tour by his long-time collaborator and lead guitarist Steve Stevens. For both Idol and his fans, the commencement of this tour would mark the “White Wedding” singer’s first live appearances in the UK since 2018.

Idol took to social media to declare the unfortunate news regarding the tour, saying: “As many of you know, this year has dealt me some health challenges which are nearly, but not quite resolved…While my recovery is almost complete, I have been given doctor’s orders to stay off the road until August – and so it is with great frustration that we must reschedule The Roadside Tour dates in the UK and Europe from June and July to September and October of this year.”

You can find tickets to Idol’s rescheduled tour here, and you can see the new dates at the end of the article.

As for support on the tour, American rockers The Go-Go’s were originally slated to appear on the bill for all six UK dates, however it has since been revealed that they are unable to perform on the newly scheduled dates. The band’s slot will now be filled by beloved NYC indie rockers Television.

Idol said of this on social media: “Sadly, The Go-Go’s are no longer able to join us in the UK. I wish them the best and hope we can play together in the future…I am thrilled that now opening all UK shows will be Television, one of my favourite bands from the original New York punk scene and an inspiration to me throughout my career. I will be honoured to share the stage with them and hope everyone will come early to enjoy their set.”

You can view the rescheduled dates for the UK leg of Idol’s tour down below.
