The beloved singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran took that effort a step further, helping the local community of Suffolk, by splitting over £1 Million between charity organisations including children’s hospital wards.

It is also known that the Pop Star is paying the wages of the employees of his Notting Hill pub, Bertie Blossoms, despite the COVID-19 lockdown.

Even though Bertie Blossoms is officially closed, in the Instagram page of the pub, there is a weekly club named ‘Wednesday Wine Club’ where people get the chance to try new wines even in the conditions of self-isolation.

This is not the first act of charity the generous artist is known for. He’s also supporting organisations such as East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Crisis (the organisation concerning the homelessness issue in the UK), the Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT).

Another one of Ed’s supported charities is the Alzheimer’s Research UK- an organisation spreading awareness of the challenge of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In addition, they are addressing the urgent need for greater investment in research.

Ed hasn’t performed live since his last show from the “Divide Tour”, with the exception of a short stage appearance in James Blunt’s show in Brighton Center on 22 of February, 2020.

As he was announcing his hiatus, he promised “to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about”.
