British-Filipino singer/songwriter beabadoobee has finally announced the very first studio album with the title ‘Fake It Flowers‘. The album will drop sometime later this year (via Dirty Hit), and is led by the first track “Care“.

After building so much strong hype with a series of critically-acclaimed EPs, Gen-Z indie star on the rise beabadoobee is readying to share the world with the first body of work this year. The name of the debut record is interestingly dubbed ‘Fake It Flowers‘ and we cannot wait any longer for the project to arrive!

Despite the release date not being revealed, the London artist has unveiled the initial sneak peek into the record with alternative rock tune “Care“. The track is produced by frequent collaborators Pete Robertson and Joseph Rodgers who are behind the greatness of her previous EPs.

beabadoobee (full name Bea Kristi) explained the story of “Care” through a press release taken from Pitchfork: “This song has end-of-a-’90s movie vibes, like you’re driving down a highway. It is pretty much me being angry at society, or people around me who I just don’t think know me and don’t care. I don’t want you to feel fucking sorry for me. I just want you to understand what I’ve been through.”

As angsty sounding as Bea asserted in the statement, “Care” is successful in conveying anger and frustration through the head-banging guitar riffs and thumping drums. Meanwhile, Bea’s sweet, angelic voice weirdly and perfectly contradicts the song’s rock vibe, creating such an infectious jam to dance to in quarantine.

Speaking of quarantine, the 20-year-old also mentioned in the press release about the making of the music video for “Care” in lockdown with the creator team called ‘bedroom’. She said, “I never expected to be making the first video from my album during a pandemic! I was so lucky to be locked down with the bedroom guys, it feels like it turned out as one of the most personal, real videos I’ve made. I’m so excited to share it!”

“Care” is out now, and stay tuned here for more info about beabadoobee and her upcoming album!

The Brit Rising Star Award has announced its list of the nominees. The nominations include beabadoobee, Celeste, and Joy Crookes. The winner will be revealed on December 6 at the award in which she will later perform for the very first time at the Brit Awards on February 18.

As the 40th Brit Awards are taking shape, the Brit Rising Star Awards, previously known as the Critics’ Choice Award, is the first category announced. This year, the shortlist comprises all-female nominees: singer/songwriter beabadoobee, soul singer Celeste and jazz artist Joy Crookes.

Bea Kristi, who goes by the stage name beabadoodee, is a 19-year-old indie sensation. Born in the Philippines, the singer/songwriter was raised in London, growing up writing music in her bedroom. beabadoodee’s hype is increasing thanks to her indie-rock-influenced music, such as “If You Want To” and “She Plays Bass”, both of which have won many indie fans, leading her to receive such prestigious achievement of being nominated.

Celeste is a rising soul star with a killer voice and sharp, poetic lyricism. This British-Jamaican songstress was born in Los Angeles but then moved to Brighton that later became her permanent home. Celeste has received acclaim from music fans and critics because of her magnificent soulful voice and the way she incredibly writes her songs. Despite being such a newbie in the industry, the 24-year-old singer has gained a wide range of achievements by appearing in many huge music festivals and embarking on sold-out shows across Europe.

Joy Crookes is another artist on the list who scores much attention from her music. Originally from South London, Crookes grew up writing songs since the age of 12. Her music is majorly influenced by Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Amy Winehouse. Back in last summer, the 20-year-old singer brought her trip-hop music to perform in front of a huge crowd at Glastonbury, marking one of her biggest accomplishments to date.

Last year, Sam Fender was the winner of this award, making his debut album Hypersonic Missiles skyrocket to the summit of the UK Albums Chart. Other past winners of the prize include Sam Smith, Adele, Ellie Goulding, and Jorja Smith. To honour such success, whoever wins the award this year will get to perform at the prestigious Brit Awards ceremony that takes place on February 18.
