It’s no surprise she’s been invited to headline such a major festival after her success worldwide and in the UK this year. Clairo and Beabadoobee are successful in their own right and deserve the size of the stage that is BST Hyde Park.

It’s no surprise that Sabrina Carpenter would be a headliner at one of the UK’s biggest festivals given her recent success. Her music career began to take off when she moved to Island Records in 2021, releasing “Emails I Can’t Send” in 2022. Her song “Nonsense” and “Feather” were viral successes and in the following year, she opened for Taylor Swift at the Era’s Tour on the Latin American, Australian and Singaporean shows. In 2024, she released the UK no.1 album “Short n’ Sweet”, with singles “Espresso”, “Please Please Please” and “Taste” coming from the same album. “Espresso”, co-written by Carpenter, debuted at no.6 on the UK official chart, before rising to no.1 after two weeks, making it her first UK number 1 single. The track was also the second most streamed song on Spotify in the UK in 2024.

Support artists for her Hyde Park show are Clairo and Beabadoobee, and though they may not be as well known they are stars in their own right, definitely deserving as their spots at next year’s festival.

Clairo is a 26-year-old US singer-songwriter who first gained recognition online with her 2017 track “Pretty Girl”. She released her third album “Charm” this year which saw her venture into jazz-style production and a notable expansion of her style and lyricism.

Beabadoobee is a British pop-rock artist born in the Philippines. Active since 2017, she has released five EPs and she is another opener for Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour in 2023. Her most recent album release, “This Is How Tomorrow Moves”, was released in August this year, and became her first no.1 album in the UK.

With their viral successes, they are sure to garner an audience at the show, solidifying their presence as Sabrina’s support/opening acts at BST Hyde Park 2025.

The indie rock singer Beabadoobee has announced her new album ‘this is how tomorrow moves’, being released 16th August.

Following huge success with her two previous EP’s: ‘Patched Up’ and ‘Loveworm’, alongside her two previous albums, ‘Fake It Flowers’ and ‘Beatopia’, the Filipino-English singer has finally posted about her new album that she has been teasing for months.

Recently, she released a single ‘Take A Bite’, which will feature on her upcoming album. Along with the single, she offered fans access to an online music video premiere, where they could immediately watch the music video as it was released. The music video has already grossed 487k views in four days, suggesting the new album will be a huge hit with her fans. Additionally, it was featured on BBC Radio 1’s hottest record, stirring up even more excitement.

The new album comes just in time for Beabadoobee’s summer performances at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, All Points East, and Reading and Leeds festival this year, which you can find tickets for here. Fans are quickly becoming increasingly excited for these shows, as there will be new music and she will be found performing along with huge names such as: Mitski, Lana Del Rey and Coldplay.

Excited fans are being offered a range of bundles on her website, in order to celebrate the new album. There are a range of options from cassette, vinyl and CD bundles, which include signed merchandise and an album tee.

Her previous album ‘Beatopia’, released in 2022, saw huge success for the indie singer-songwriter, reaching #4 album in the UK Official Album Chart and #1 in the UK Official Vinyl Albums Chart. Since this album, she has released many singles including ‘Glue Song’, that reached the UK top 40, ‘the way things go’, and ‘A Night To Remember’ with Laufey, an Icelandic, jazz-inspired sensation.

On social media, Beabadoobee has claimed that the new album is her “most personal record”, with many indie singers such as Conan Gray, Clairo and Gracie Abrams showing their excitement in the comments.

Clearly, this will be an extremely exciting year for both Beabadoobee and fans, and to get in on the excitementm you can pre-order her new album here.

British pop rock band The 1975 have shared their first single since 2022, a cover of ‘Now Is The Hour’ for the soundtrack of the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series The New Look. Starring Emmy Award winner Ben Mendelsohn, Oscar recipient Juliette Binoche and Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, the series will explore the rise of legendary fashion designers Christian Dior and his contemporaries Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, and Cristóbal Balenciaga during World War II. Jack Antonoff produced the series soundtrack, which features many of his collaborators and friends covering celebrated songs from the era. Antonoff co-produced The 1975’s fifth studio album ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’, and also recorded covers for the soundtrack from other major UK acts such as Florence + The Machine and Beabadoobee.

The 10-song soundtrack’s first single is fronted by Florence + The Machine in a haunting cover of ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ popularised by British singer Vera Lynn. The 1975 followed suit with ‘Now Is The Hour’, a traditional Māori song once used to bid farewell to soldiers leaving to fight in World War I. The piece has been credited to various artists and songwriters over the years but was first made famous in the 1940s and 50s by Hollywood stars like Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. The 1975’s Matt Healy offers a hushed, delicate take on the song, with ambient vocals erupting into horns, only to return to a gentle instrumental. The remaining half of the soundtrack features covers from the likes of Perfume Genius, Nick Cave and Lana Del Rey.

The historical drama, which was created by Todd A. Kessler, will span 10 episodes, with the first three episodes set to arrive globally next Wednesday, February 14 on Apple TV+. Meanwhile, The 1975 are set to embark on their upcoming 2024 ‘Still…At Their Very Best’ UK tour this evening, with their first show taking place at the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow which has seen superfans camp out overnight in icy conditions.

Despite a series of controversies looming over Healy last year, the frontman has since made a public apology to his fans and those he has allegedly offended. The group boast four sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena, continuing on to their European leg of the tour which will conclude in Copenhagen on March 10. All remaining tickets for the UK tour are available here.

The New Look full soundtrack:

1. Florence + The Machine – ‘White Cliffs Of Dover’
2. The 1975 – ‘Now Is The Hour’
3. Lana Del Rey – ‘Blue Skies’
4. Perfume Genius – ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’
5. Nick Cave – ‘La Vie En Rose’
6. Beabadoobee – ‘It’s Only A Paper Moon’
7. Joy Oladokun – ‘I Wished Upon The Moon’
8. Bartees Strange – ‘You Always Hurt The One You Love’
9. Sam Dew – ‘I Cover The Waterfront’

The 1975’s frontman, Matty Healy, is no longer a director at Dirty Hit Limited as of last week.

Dirty Hit Limited are the private company behind Dirty Hit, the record label with whom The 1975 have released their entire discography. Healy was appointed director in December 2018 and was active in the role until his termination in April 2023.

Pitchfork were informed that the move was “administrative in nature” though neither The 1975 nor Dirty Hit Limited have commented on the change.

Fans are speculating over the reasoning behind Matty’s termination however, linking his controversial behaviour on social media and on tour to the change in role, though this has not been confirmed by either party involved.

One fan suggested Matty “pretends it’s a choice” following his social media accounts being banned in addition to no longer being a company director, but is ultimately scathing towards his recent actions.

imagine matty’s twitter was actually banned and now his insta is too and he was fired as dirty hit director but he pretends it’s a choice and all “new era of not being a fucking asshole”

Another fan joked that this is simply due to tax reasons, owed to the timing of Matty’s termination.

Matty ‘resigning’ from dirty hit at the end of the tax year? He’s just tryna commit tax evasion guys — niche internet micro celebrity land_sam02 (@land_sam02) April 6, 2023

The link between The 1975 and Dirty Hit runs deep, leaving fans questioning what this means for the band moving forwards. Matty has collaborated with multiple artists also signed to Dirty Hit, including No Rome, Beabadoobee and the Japanese House, in essence making Matty the face of the label.

Healy is no stranger to being at the centre of controversial news, recently facing backlash for his comments on women as a guest on The Adam Friedland Show, in addition to judging Harry Styles for his “queerbaiting” behaviour and mocking Scottish English.

This followed a string of questionable behaviour during The 1975’s At Their Very Best tour, which saw Matty doing everything from eating raw meat on stage to pulling fans up on stage to kiss them.

Matty’s behaviour has been questioned by fans and news outlets alike, ultimately leaving them questioning whether this truly is performance art or whether this show of personality is reason enough for his directorship to be terminated in the interest of PR.

The UK Official Album Charts have confirmed this week’s highest new entry; singer-songwriter Mabel’s second studio album, About Last Night… has debuted at number two. The album’s chart position marks a career-best for the singer and is her highest chart placement to date. Mabel first found chart success with Ivy To Roses; the mixtape was originally released in 2017 and was later re-issued in 2019. Prior to the release of About Last Night…, Mabel’s highest chart position came from her 2019 debut album, High Expectations.

About Last Night… sees Mabel team up with a roster full of artists, including Jax Jones, Galantis and 2kkGoldn and producer SG Lewis. The singer began work on the recently released album during the COVD-19 pandemic and began to tease the release at the start of last year. Further information was given last June when the singer posted pictures of herself working on two new music videos; said videos were then revealed to be for the album’s first two singles, “Let Them Know” and “Good Luck”.

Elsewhere within this week’s Album charts, Harry Styles’ third studio album Harry’s House, has secured a sixth non-consecutive week at number one. The former One Direction member’s success within the album charts has now surpassed that acquired by his former boyband. During his time within One Direction, Styles obtained four number one albums with Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, Four and Made In The A.M. With all four albums combined, One Direction’s total is five weeks at the top spot.

Also scoring a career-best within this week’s album chart is beebadoobee, the singer-songwriter has placed at number four with the new release Beatopia. Born as Beatrice Lauss, the Filipino-British artist has also topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart with her second studio album. The 22-year-old singer released Beatopia on 15th July 2022 via Dirty Hit; the album sees Lauss collaborate with Matty Healy and George Daniel of indie rock group 1975, PinkPantheress and Bombay Bicycle Club bandmember Jack Steadman.

This week’s UK album charts include two non-movers within the top five; after multiple weeks within the charts = by Ed Sheeran has placed at number three. Closing the top five is Gold Rush Kid by George Ezra; after being released in June the album peaked at number one after its initial release week.

With the release date of her sophomore LP getting closer and closer (July 15th), the buildup for Beatopia has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down. ‘See You Soon’ marks Beabadoobee’s 5th single of the year, if you include a couple of collaborations like ‘Fall In Love With A Girl’ with Cavetown, and ‘Silver Into Rain’ with Luna Li. Either way, since her breakout in 2020, Beabadoobee, also known as Beatrice Laus, seems to be trying to get as much music to us as is physically possible. A streak of a few collaborations has stopped and now Laus has come back to releasing solo stuff ahead of the new album. Listen below.

In a conversation with DIY Magazine, Laus had this to say, “I feel like the idea behind ‘See You Soon’ is that it’s meant to make you feel like you’re tripping on shrooms. Or, I feel like the chorus especially, I want it to sound like a breath of fresh air, like, you know, like a realisation of some sort,” explaining, “I wrote it during a time where I was away a lot and making a lot of mistakes and doing a lot of things to help me figure a lot of stuff out. And I feel like I found the importance of doing that really, it was really therapeutic because it made me appreciate everything around me so much more. Being away and being by myself with my own thoughts, it was kind of like a punch in the face. And I guess it’s just really playing along with the fact that you know, it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as it makes you a stronger person, as long as it makes everything makes sense. And it’s important to be by yourself sometimes.”

Bea’s new album comes alongside a full world tour set to begin in the states at the end of the month. Eventually, the tour will make its way to the UK for 11 nights in October. Tickets for the shows can be found here. If you can’t wait all the way until October, then she is performing alongside the likes of Paulo Nutini, The Strokes, and Lewis Capaldi at this year’s TRNSMT festival in Scotland, or at London’s Finsbury Park with Sam Fender.

Beabadoobee the alternative/indie artist has a new single out entitled “Talk” alongside the announcement and full details regarding her new album Beatopia, as well as plans for a UK tour later this year.

The Filipino-British singer-songwriter announced the title of her second studio album last week, but has now also revealed the full tracklisting, release date, artwork and shared the video for her latest single “Talk”.

The singer signed to Dirty Hit as stated in NME, saying of her new release “I wrote “Talk” just after my first album. I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time, generally it’s about doing things that aren’t necessarily healthy or great for you but you can’t help indulging. It’s like that unavoidable feeling that you get, you can’t get rid of it and you know it’s bad but you love it really and it’s whatever, so you do it anyway.”

The music video that accompanied the single depicts Beabadoobee and her band members performing over a white background with some unusual red mushrooms. The band are then joined by jumping and dancing fans. It is a track right out of the early 2000s, incorporating almost Moog-like synths combined with a modern reimagining of 90’s alternative rock. You can view the full video below:

Beabadoobee’s new album features 14 tracks and according to a press release “traverses fuzzy rock, classic singer-songwriter, psychedelia, midwest emo and outright pop whilst remaining undeniably herself throughout.”

The album also features a collaboration with PinkPantheress on the track “Tinkerbell Is Overrated”. The album will drop on July 15th and you can pre-order it here.

After spending the last month or so promoting the “very 2006” sound of her upcoming sophomore album, Beatrice Laus (better known by her stage name Beabadoobee) has joined forces with Cavetown (or Robin Daniel Skinner if we’re doing this) to release a collaborative single together called ‘Fall In Love With A Girl’. The single also comes with an accompanying music video directed by film director Chris Fowles. The video stars both Laus and Skinner, and sees them both extending the atmosphere the song already exudes by simultaneously painting dolls and doll-houses. It feels incredibly appropriate when you face it, see the video below.

Speaking with NME earlier this month, Laus commented that her new album has, “a lot of different vibes, there’s not one song that sounds the same as the others. I’ve been really getting into a band called Stars, and I’ve always loved Stereolab as well.” Adding, “I’ve been working with my guitarist Jacob and using a lot of teenage engineering, drum machines, mixtures of guitars. It’s been really fun. I don’t know how to explain it, but it sounds very 2006. I feel like this new album is what I am meant to sound like.” As of yet, it is unknown whether or not ‘Fall In Love With A Girl’ will appear on the album, or even when the album will come out. We’re surprisingly light on details at the moment.

But we have heard, in an interview with Consequence of Sound, that it should be dropping “Sometime in 2022”. Amazing. She also elaborated “I think the next record every single song is in a whole completely different world, I’ve never made such different songs in one piece of music before.” Summarising, “It’s the first time where every single song you just can’t compare it to anything else from the record. There’re some songs where it’s just me and some songs where it’s very heavy. We reference a lot of music we were listening to at the time, Jacob and I.” Until the album’s release, however, this Cavetown collab will have to be enough.

This also marks the first release for Cavetown since his latest EP was released last June. Man’s Best Friend gained pretty good reception from critics and fans and launched a substantial North American tour, and a few extra festival slots thrown in for good measure. While there are 2 dates in Austria and The Netherlands, so far there are no plans for an EU/UK leg of the tour. See full tour information here.

After last year’s festival season allowed only a select few to experience a couple of days in the sun, this time around the entire industry seems to have come back in full force. Among the many festivals trying to up their game with bigger headliners, more stages, and generally more pizazz, the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival has dropped the line-up for its first face-to-face outing since 2020, this time being hosted in Cardiff April 1-3. Alongside the usual live performances, the festival will also show DJ sets, new music showcases, in conversation events, and other events that will all be streamed on BBC Sounds, BBC Four and BBC iPlayer. More information can be found here.

THERE YOU HAVE IT

We’ll be bringing this lovely lot to Cardiff from Friday 1st April – Sunday 3rd April and WE CANNOT WAIT!!!

Who’s joining us? pic.twitter.com/uauVHsryyp

— BBC Radio 6 Music (@BBC6Music) February 15, 2022

“The most exciting element about the 6 Music Festival is the coming together, in a physical space, of our beloved 6 Music listeners and the staff at the station, with artists we love,” 6 Music’s Mary Anne Hobbs said in a statement. “Lockdowns have kept us apart since 2020, so this year’s gigs in Cardiff are going to feel super-charged.” The line-up on the first-day does seem to reflect the super-charged initial thoughts; post-punk icons IDLES take to the stage in The Great Hall to supply the Welsh crowd with their usual brand of woke-punk. Singer-songwriter and one part of the indie powerhouse that is Boygenius; Lucy Dacus is going to appear at The Great Hall, with none other than the one-and-only Pixies. St David’s Hall is another venue to be given the BBC treatment, Little Simz will appear alongside Mykki Blanco, Curtis Harding, and Deyah to create a fabulous blend of R&B, Poetry, and generally top tier songwriting. Tramshed will also be hosting a club night with appearances from DJ’s SHERELLE, Overmono, Tom Ravenscroft and many more.

Saturday night in Cardiff see’s appearances from Bloc Party, slightly before the release of their 6th LP Alpha Games on April 22nd, Sports Team take another swing at the festival after performing at the 2020 bout too, beabadoobee rounds out proceedings at The Great Hall. Khruangbin, an American psychedelic-dub-soul-trio make their first appearance in the UK since 2019, while Ezra Collective add a 2nd date to their (currently quite short) touring schedule, Ibibio Sound Machine will also make an appearance to bring their own taste of electronic afro-funk to Wales. Nemone, Craig Charles, and David Holmes will also make appearances at Tramshed.

The final day of the festival brings Johnny Marr, Self Esteem, and Wet Leg together under the same roof; allowing the crowds to get quite the spread of music from only 3 artists, The Smiths singer-songwriter sits in stark contrast to Self Esteem’s experimental-pop aura, and Wet Leg’s post-punk anger. The most anticipated act of the evening however (for me at least), has to be the appearance of Father John Misty with the backing of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. The new sound of this album has revealed 2 great singles so far, so putting it into a live context can only highlight the glum maximalism he’s going for at the moment. Cat Power, Super Furry Animal’s own Gruff Rhys, and audiobooks round out what could be a very exciting evening.
